Rebuilding a Vise Jaw

  • In a previous video, I welded the cast-iron movable jaw of this Samson vise back together. I knew cast iron didn't weld very well, but thought I'd give it a go anyway. It held for a while, but ended up breaking again, right next to where I'd welded it. I'm done with that jaw. Let's see if I can make a new one out of stouter stuff.

    Oh sht. I've got a pnumatic impact 'drill". Maybe I can get the rusty old sloted screws out of my old vice w/o having to drill/tap new holes.
    Thanks for the idea.

      We'll get back to it yet! Most of my wrenching time is going into a neighbor's C10 at the moment, but the CJ will live again. We've got all the new fuel system parts for it, just need the metal patch panels and the time at this point.
