Great upgrades Derek. And thanks for showing the process. The Unimog looks and runs great.
Thank you very much Dirk.
Thank you very much, Derek, for mentioning my attempts to be of help and for including a link to my Unimog build.
I can never understand it when people say "I blacked out the windows because otherwise I'd have to fotca full interior"!
Just the top half of an action figure holding the top half of a "steering wheel" made from one phase of a length of painted 3-core flex is as good as most of my RC cars get, and that still looks more realistic to me than shiny black windows.
I really enjoyed your run, and marvelled at your amazing motor - so torquey, yet so quiet! Yu did a goid job of setting your lash - the gearbox is silken!
You're very welcome Del. Thank you for providing the inspiration, and very helpful video, for me to do this. I watched your video again recently and realised I'd built this Unimog in 2021 and still hadn't sorted out a driver for it. Shameful really! I already had the Tamiya figure waiting to be painted and assembled, so I looked in my garage and found the brackets and Perspex. It didn't take long to do and I'm very pleased with it. In fact the base and brackets took very little time to adapt and fit to the chassis. Thank you for helping me find some decent tyres too. They're much better than the kit tyres and I really like them. The extra few mm of diameter are negligible with this body and really improve the overall look of the Unimog for me. There was a bit of wheel slippage in them on the run because they're not glued yet. But I have another project coming up which I want to try them with before I glue them, and if they work out I'll buy another set. Thank you again my friend. I appreciate your help.
@@hollyhillrc It's strange, how Tamiya provide driver figures for so many of their vehicles, but many others are expected to do without. After all, when you're driving it, you can't see much interior detail, but a missing driver's pretty obvious. I think k they should do an optional 1:12 scale figure for the Pumpkin and their other 1:12 models!
I love it when you're seized with the determination to do something, and find just what you need lying around at home, and just adapt to use the materials you have at hand. Your duct tape solution to the "out of black paint" problem is a good example.
Those tyres are a bargain, aren't they? I like the sound they make on rock if you go v e r y slowly - you can hear them scrabbling for grip, finding it and losing it all the time. The placcy wheels look very attractive to me. I put steel Land Rover wheels on my Range Rover, and it made it look much more hardcore than any expensive alloys would've done. I wanted to use them on my Unimog, was disappointed when zi saw that I couldn't, worried when I thought I wouldn't be able to use the tyres, and delighted when I finalky had the sense to try the tyres on the kit wheels. And I do like the kit wheels too.
Good run Derek😊,and nice tire upgrade. Exellent job with the driver 🥰
Thank you very much Jan 👍🏼
Looks Great Derek!! Nothing like getting good ideas from other channels. Specially when they have already done the leg work. lol Everything came out great brother. Ran nice and the driver was perfect in there. Been a follower of Tibster for a while now. Definitely a nice guy and Those little thumb steers are awesome!! Thumbs up
Thanks Nick.
Looks mint. Great run . I need to get in the woods with a crawler soon . Something very relaxing about it . If you are ever up or down in the midlands give us a shout . Got a good crawling spot you would enjoy 😊👍👍

Thank you very much my friend.
Looks really good Derek, and i like the thumb steer i did my GT3B using a lipo velcro strap with a but of 8mm tube hot glued onto it
Thank you Julian.
Im on lookout for a Unimog, wanted one for a long time, its either the cc-02 or cross rc NT4, thinking i will get the cross
@@hollyhillrc
That looks great 👍🏻
Thank you very much.
Hi there Derek, a good upgrade to the CC-02 chassis, the driver and cockpit look great too. Once I’m back on my feet, I’m going to get my Mercedes G500 out 😂😂😊😊. Take care and best wishes to you and the family 😊
Thank you Jon. I hope you get better soon.
@@hollyhillrc thank you Derek, it was a revision left hip replacement op. Long road to recovery, but I’ll get there eventually. 😉😊
cool
Thank you very much Tobi.
Wow! That rig is quiet.
The Surpass motor paired with the Reedy ESC is surprisingly quiet Gary. It also feels very smooth to drive.
They remind me of the Fastrax Snake bites I used. I used thumb steers all the time, but I do have short thumbs. Does seem fast 🙂
They're much softer than the kit tyres and worked well on this little run.
@@hollyhillrc You would have thought Tamiya would have changed their tyre compound by now.
..... and put metal bearings and driver figures in all their kits!
@@hollyhillrc If only, the figures you would think they would do more, they do models kits and that's how they started. Then the early Rc kits were no more than that, a kit, add radio with motor and battery option for "D" cell.
Ah yes, the 3d printed thumb controller. I had forgot about that Derek. How are you finding it?
And big thanks for the mention my friend
THUMBTASTIC ! 👍🏼
Lololol
