    A very useful comparsion video! I also have CC-01 Land Rover Defender which is for my kid and I'm considering CC-02 chassis for myself. I have looked up Axial SCX10 and Traxxas TRX-4 but what I didn't realise is that they are much larger than Tamiya's pair. Prior to getting CC-01 a couple of years ago, I had considered other options such as Traxxas and Axial but Tamiya's commitment to maintaining the same chassis design over the years, without abandoning them, is what swayed me to CC01 for long term parts support etc.

    Very true my friend, you point out the pros and cons on these fabulous Tamiya cross country series.
    I do like this brand new design RC kit, Tamiya item # 58675.
    even though I don't like the G class in real world size...
    but this G500 body shell is one of the most detailed rc lexan body set from Tamiya recently.
    in my opinion, as a Tamiya fan boy(which I am), this kit is nothing else but a nice and pretty scaler to me.
    and if I want a scaler chassis for now, CC-02 will not be my first choice,
    because my old super low budget CC-01 can fit this scaler position easily.
    and again, if I want a crawler...well, all I can say I am still in love with my old CR-01...
    anyway, thank you for this nice comparison video, well done!!

    Some great points mentioned there. Cc-01 still a great car off road, but the cc-02 looks like a better car for tricky terrain and mild crawling. At any sort of speed cc02 is going to get filthy though. You can pick up the landfreeder for about £130, the CC02 is over £200.

    My Friend Matteo, you say the CC-01 Chassis needs modifications to work right...
    This is definitely an understatement!! 😳 To get mine to steer and track properly, needed over $150 in Suspension and Steering mods!!! 😖
    But of course you know this. Your earlier Videos are what inspired me how to modify my CC-01 !! Thank you for this.
    I may never be able to afford a CC-02, but I wish I could. I would replace my two CC-01 Chassis with them...
    But not to throw the CC01 in the Bin! No, I would Scratchbuild a Dakar Rally Truck Body for it, because the high speed would be a good match. 👍👍
    The CC-02 I would Scratchbuild inner Wheelwells, and raise up the links... But I probably won't get that chance. So I admire yours and others.

    Awesome comparison there, Matteo. Very informative. It would be interesting to see how the CC-02 compares to MST's CMX, considering both are smaller scale chassis with smaller wheels than the larger SCX10 and TRX4.

    As you called the MST CMX the unofficial CC02, I'd love to see a compassion between the CMX/CFX and the CC02

    • @deusexaethera
      @deusexaethera Před 4 lety +2

      I owned a MST CMX for a couple years. I converted it to a CFX when the option became available. I eventually sold the truck though, because I have a SCX10 II, a Vaterra Ascender, a TRX-4, a TRX-6, an Axial Wraith, and a modified Traxxas Telluride. The CMX/CFX is definitely a better truck than the CC-02, but the small size is an unavoidable disadvantage when driving in the woods. I would consider buying the larger CFX-W, if I didn't already have so many other crawlers, but in reality I've got all the rock crawling options I could ask for already.

    • @Matteomeier
      @Matteomeier  Před 4 lety +1

      Maybe I'll do this, but the problem is I don't have a stock CMX at the moment...

    • @Matteomeier

      Exactly why I prefer bigger crawlers also!

    • @P0110X
      @P0110X Před 4 lety

      I own a MST CFX that started as FJ40 (252mm wheelbase) and while 90x30mm tires look well compared to the size of the car, cannot be easily compared to, for example, a scx10 I/II because those chassis work with 110-120mm tires. I now use my CFX with a FJ Cruiser body (267mm wheelbase) and with 106mm tires obviously performs lots better. I also have a cc01 shelf queen that is already upgraded. I think the cc02 will be a nice option for trailing with short wheelbased projects.

    Biggest departure will be the hard body Jeep and others. Addition to the SAS is on point. Body wise, Tamiya missed a great RC by using lexan. Like axial or horizon. Getting rid of the best parts of RC from over 15 years ago or more is going to hurt the hobby more than we think. When it comes to kits, beadlocks and hard bodies are key. I'll never forget my RTR scx10 with beadlocks. I was sold on that alone. Can't stand the glue, but maybe the tires aren't that great? I'll be selling my ryft tires if anyone wants them

    Looks like these chassis have different wheelbases. I know the CC-01 can be adjusted to short or long wheelbase by changing the attachment position of the rear links. Can the CC-02 be adjusted as well? I am particularly interested to know if the old Jeep Wrangler hard body can fit well on the CC-02 since the rigid axles would be a much better match.

    Hello Matteo. I also have both of these trucks. I have both the Tamiya CC01 and also the Tamiya CC02. Tamiya used a lot of plastic parts on the CC02 chassis. I did buy a lot of metal parts for my CC02 Mercedes truck. It did improve the performance of the truck. However, both the CC01 and the CC02 will not be very good rock crawler trucks. They are only a trail truck. I just bought a Vanquish VS4-10pro truck. I have not yet built it. It is very expensive, but it is a rock crawler truck. Have you heard of this truck? This truck appears to have very good instructions and it also has a lot of metal parts too. Maybe you could do a build video on that truck?

    • @Matteomeier
      @Matteomeier  Před 4 lety +1

      Hey Alfred! Yes, it's true. As I said in the video the CC-02 have never the same performance as other Scale Crawlers like the Axial SCX-10 or Traxxas TRX-4. This is mostly because of the smaller size of the CC-02. VS4 is also bigger and so logically has better off-road capabilities. And yes it's very expensive (too much for me...😅😅😅)

      Yes, I know him and allready seen this videos. Of course this is a good way to reach a realistic movement. I also use weight in my cars to improve this, but not in this exessive way. In my opinion this is too much. I think it's important to find a good balance between performance and realstic movement. Because of the phisics a 1:10 scale car car not move like a real one without a big lack of performance. 😊😊

    It's funny because they are totally different chassis I don't even know why tamiya even called the new one a CC02 because the CC01 has a independent front and the CC02 2 solid axles? Nice showcase Matteo!

    Tamiya is kinda late to the party.... in a time where basicallly every crawler has solid axles an improved version of the cc01 with ifs would have caught my attention more so... sorry tamiya,..

    Isnt it possible to put the springs of the cc2 on the cc1?

    • @Matteomeier
      @Matteomeier  Před 4 lety +1

      No, the springs from the CC-02 are too big for the CC-01

    I kinda wish that Tamiya kept IFS for the CC02, most new and new-ish 4x4s have IFS and it would be a nice for a scale look.
    I'm not impressed :/

    • @Matteomeier
      @Matteomeier  Před 3 lety +1

      I think is good to have it booth. For older trucks is better to use the rigid axles, and for newer the IFS.

      Just get an Element RC Enduro. They make some with IFS. I have one of their IFS conversion kits on my SCX10 II.

  • @tjohanne

    I love the chassis, really. But the steering is horrible. The servo just shifts the chassis side to side over the axle. Why on earth didn't they use a panhard bar.

    • @Matteomeier
      @Matteomeier  Před 3 lety +1

      Yes, but important is the propper adjustment of the servo endpoints of the steering. So it works not bad and on the trails there is not a problem. 👍😊

    Over all i still prefer the CC-01 model plus those can be ran with faster motors. I feel the CC-02 is only for super slow speeds.
