What I like about Tears of the Kingdom, are the references to Skyward Sword. It just felt familiar with the parallels

I never played SW but I played Minish cap, so this weirdly reminds me of the sky areas on it, like the wind palace

Yeah, it's the same kind of line that, despite its simplicity, gets heavier the more you invest yourself in the game. "Despite everything, it's still you" is limited to Undertale, but "You've done it before" applies to the entire Zelda Franchise. There have been many Links, all different people with their own adventures, but the spirit of the hero remains the same in every generation, and as the player, yeah, you've done it before.

@jojoplanka3678 well, Link would be close to his mid-twenties in TotK, given that Mattison (who was not around in BotW) is likely around 4-6 years old.
This makes me remember twilight princess, it hit me hard when I found out the skeleton was the hero of time. They should do things like that more often.

@@botarakutabi1199 Good DLC isn't stuff that feels like it should've been in the base game, it's really just extra stuff that they have the opportunity to create even after the game is done
And TOTK is PACKED with stuff to do, so even if DLC releases no one can claim in good faith that it's an unfinished game
@@TrovaoSmasher I still think it's greedy to eek more money out of an already expensive game. I always thought it was kinda shitty to hold more content behind a paywall after you already own the game. You should get the entire game, all of its content. Extra or not. But, really, that's my opinion.
@@botarakutabi1199 DLC doesn't mean just unfinished content they're making us pay extra for. Many companies do use it as that, but that's not what it inherently is.

There are actually a lot of parallels with Skyward Sword and Tears of the kingdom. Like the whole sky structure thing or Zelda being in the past and trying to stop the demon king from there etc.

Man, I wish in TotK you got memorabilia from skyloft and some tie-ins saying "all this seems familiar." The connection of the Demon King and Demise, the islands in the sky being like Skyloft, the gliders being like taking off with a loftwing, so many chances for the hero to say "you've done this a million times before."
This is probably exactly how Link would sound if he actually spoke and I love it

I like to imagine that link speaks with his predecessors whenever he pulls out the master sword and that’s how he learns the sword beam. Kinda like how you learn stuff in Twilight princess, except with a lot more screaming and many more children

Bro totk is arguably the best game when you think about it. It has skyward sword, botw, and also an entire new area as well as a bunch of references to a lot of past games

I think one of the reasons “You’ve done it before” hits so hard is because through the series Link doesn’t speak. It is revealed that with all the pressure and responsibility he carries, he wants to stay silent with the burdens so no-one worries about him or the ongoing conflicts. By providing this line, it’s almost as if he is reassuring himself through all of this; that is going to be ok and that he has nothing to fear because he has done it all before. He has a means of support because he is the only one who truly knows what he is going though and the heavy burdens he faces.
I think the hero’s sets should have been alternatives to other sets (when upgraded to Lv.2 they get the same set bonus/effect) like the set of the sky should negate fall damage, set of the wind should have swim speed up, set of twilight should have night speed up, but sure what the set of time or set of the hero or the set of awakening should get

Which is interesting, considering that Tears of the Kingdom seems to be a separate timeline from Skyward Sword, based on what is revealed in the former game.
Skyward sword is the first game in the timeline. All timelines start at skyward sword and split at ocarina of time. BOTW takes elements from all timelines, so the leading theory is that all timelines converge at botw
@@ShadowSlith789 I figure that BotW and TotK are in their own separate timeline. Ganondorf’s actions in this game clash with OoT, and Demise isn’t even mentioned.

@@d4rksh4d0vv5 I think that SS is the beginning of the time line. Then everything splits at OoT. Then a Big crunch happened (reset the universe) and began with BOTW. But demise's curse lasts even after the universe got reset and hence it's still the same universe, just reset.
