Followed the guide and now I got a 128GB Kobo Aura Edition 2.
Thanks!
Great tutorial. I managed to increase my Kobo from 4Gb to 16Gb. I initially ran into a problem that my new MicroSD didn't reflect the 16Gb. When I watched the tutorial again, I realised that I neglected to Apply my settings in MiniTool Partition Wizard after extending it. After that it worked just great. Thanks a mill!

Tested and successfully upgraded my Kobo Clara HD storage. replaced the 8GB Class 4 Micro SD with a 128GB Class 10 Micro SD. My biggest tip if you plan to use your kobo to read manga/comics. Copy over before putting back into your Kobo as the write speeds dont improve as much as you'd think they would.
Also using clara hd. Copying over filed went from 2mb/s to 3-4 mb/s but mangas open nearly instantly. Before they took 3-6 sec if the epub was really big. Thats a great change for a "free" sd card i just found lying around.
Thank you for your sharing. I followed your method to upgrade my Kobo Clara HD from 8GB to 32GB and it works properly.
Thanks for the memory upgrade tutorial! The same method works for the Kobo Clara HD 8GB upgrading to 128GB. I am using Calibre to copy my books and haven't had any issues with write speeds so far. If you have a Clara it might take some force to take out the original micro sd card, it's not glued in though.
Hi, do you think it's possible to get a 1tb SD Card to work in the Kobo Clara HD? I want to try since you said it worked with a 128gb card. I also heard of someone making this method work with a 256gb card so I figured if 256gb Card works then why can't a 1tb card work? What do you think?
My new (2017) Kobo Aura 2nd Edition came with only 4GB of memory. Of that, only 2.5GB was available to actually use to store my books. The system stole 1.5GB.
I had an extra 16GB SD card lying around so I thought I'd try this new memory expansion technique. I followed the instructions (to the letter) and to my amazement....it worked.
Kudos for the most excellent video.
How did you disassemble your Aura Edition 2?
@@nguyenthanhnam3944 same as video. is very similar.
Thank you for the tutorial. Especially the part showing how to remove the back cover(the starting part). It gave me an idea to remove the back cover. The rest was very easy. I replaced 32gb Samsung Evo card class 10. My Kobo ereader is working perfectly with lot more storage.
Worked perfectly, now transferring 32 Gigs of ebooks to my Glo HD! I only regret I didn't copy the files when the card was in my desktop instead of using a USB cable after installing the card! Oh, well, off to bed hoping it will be finished by morning! LOL
Thanks for the great video and clear instructions! My next goal will be to get the 10" Kobo with pen if the price comes down on Black Friday.
I just also added a 32 GB class 10 sd card to my little Kobo Mini too,
works great I think it sped everything up !
2022 - tried it with my kobo glo (2012) and it works jus fine!! from 2gb to 16gb since it still has an external micro sd card slot for 32gb
me too, it worked for me, extremely happy with this, simple yet powerful! thank you very much for the video, excellent!
Thank you for sharing this detailed video!
Thanks! Kobo Glo 2012 now with 32gb! Lots of magá to carry around haha! Great video!
Thank you so much man, just upgraded the libra 2 from 32 to 256gb! Thanks man!
Still works in 2018. Thank you.
Nice, thankyou!
2020 excelente video, sin saber otro idioma lo hice. Graciasssss!!!
6-20. works on "kobo aura edition 2" with "sandisk ultra 128gb" MANY THANKS. for people gettin some kind of error, make sure to format the sd card in FAT32 before install the .iso
Thanks!
Did you see much performance difference with the increase in speed class between the cards?
THX it workz!
...thanks Bro...
Does anyone know how possible it is to load custom software on with this method? Just felt it would be fun to have something like an e-paper terminal for SSH or similar.
ThX Bro.
Thank you, is original partition FAT32 or NFS does it matter?
Might I suggest that you use your Disk Partition tool built into Windows to expand your SD Card space...
ty
The kobo aura also have that.
My sd card is damaged. So how can i find the image inside the sd card?
Hi, can I do it for my kobo touch 2.0? Thanks
Is it necessary to use MiniTool partition wizard?
The best
wondering... does a faster class micro sd card (class 10, vs the original in kobo class 4 ) affect performance? does it load pages or books faster? specially concerned about big files.. thanks, and thank you for the video ^^
+sniuk I haven't compared but I feel like it's loading PDF file faster
+Nightly Techie thank you! actually was thinking about pdf files that the are the slowest ones ^^
Nightly Techie your video is great. However it does not work for me somehow. I followed your steps for my Kobo Glo with 2GB of Internal Memory. I have used a 32 GB Class 4 SD Micro Card. Everything worked however the Kobo does not power on with the 32GB memory card. I successfully copied and extended the partition exactly like you have demonstrated but the kobo will not boot up with the 32 GB card. It does boot up with the original card though. Please let me know if I did anything wrong. I am guessing it is either that the 2GB devices are somehow prevented from having their content copied exactly like the 4GB devices or perhaps my SDHC card is faulty. I rechecked the 32GB card for any issues but apparentlyit seems to be Ok. What are your thoughts?
Follow up to my previous post. It DID NOT work for me using the alexpage image tool I am afraid. Looking at other tutorials online what worked for me was 2 versions of the following url.
For ripping images from the SD Card:
www.vconsole.com/client/?page=page&id=28
"Flash Drive Image Creator"
For writing images to the SD Card:
www.vconsole.com/client/?page=page&id=29
"Flash Drive Image Writer"
The rest of the Instructions worked for me. Thanks Nightly Techie for the post. Perhaps I made a mistake by not following your directions but I thought I'd state what worked for me eventually.
wondering if it work on a forma ereader...
How can I do this on a Mac?
Thank you so much. Can i do it for pocketbook 614??
could you please send me the image for the KOBO GLO sd card? I still have the partitions but two of them were formatted by the system, I'll be very grateful
thanks.
I lost my memory card and i don't know what to do, any suggestions?
i need kobo glo hd img backup plz
Oh M...i have 2 kindles already. Paperwhite and 8th gen..im thinking of getting a kobo for this reason alone...
Can we do this with a 1tb SD Card???
where can find 4GB kobo.img file? thank you!
How about kobo touch?
i have lost the data of that memory card. Can you send me the data of that kobo's card :( please. I need it for my kobo
Unfortunately the Kobo Glo HD is not with me right now. But I suggest you to try pinhole reset or go to mobileread forum to request someone their and hope they will help.
Hmm will this method work for the new Kobo Clara HD?
Yes.
Can I do this with 64gb and larger SD cards?
+Eric I think you can!
Thanks
does this upgrade still working?
Yes!
100% working.
FOR ANYONE WITH A MICRO SD CARD LARGER THAN 32GB
So for my card, I was getting an error code (1117 i/o error) this was due to the cards pre-formatted file system (exFAT) being different from the Kobo Glo HD's (FAT32). If you have the same trouble, here is the fastest solution.
Right click on your card-->Select Format...--->Select NTFS
From this use MiniTool Partition and under the the Micro SD cards drive (:i, :g, etc.) Right click and format from NTFS to FAT32. Then you should be able to start the process above.
can someone send me a clara hd image?
why do video tutorials and then put this fucking music that doesn't make you understand anything?
