I love that Kraft is basically an ode to Alien; getting Brendon on backing vocals, the tone of the guitars, the melodies. adore it
These two new songs are one of the best Northlane material. This band always brings something new to the table. I really liked first two albums, I loved Node, Mesmer and Alien and Obsidian is one of my favourite albums of all time
i also saved afterimage for the full release, glad i did considering the title track is an intro to it. feels like it was the right choice as it really added to my own enjoyment of the full release
wtf I just searched for more reactions to this, insane timing.
People are just scared of experiments... yes Thrown nights is super good song but we hear similar ones all the time. I feel like the 2 new songs in this EP Let me Disappear and Kraft are one of the Northlanes best in a sense of pushing the boundaries again. It reminds me of these arsty experimental techno sets with weird rhythms and just overall non-traditional music writting. Northlane is trying to include this kind of sound into their music which i think is really fresh. I heard some people say that the 2 new songs sound muddy and are shitty because of the non-traditional rhythm - - but i think they CLEARLY know what they are doing and it is just some kind artistic intention to induce other atmospheres and so on. (maybe the vocals in the song Let me disappear are not so loud because they are not the main star in the song... maybe its just another texture... something to build up on.
i love it some people just like to hate, I know this is not Alien but is pretty solid
The mix sounds perfect to me theres a lot of high quality sounds, and u can differentiate pretty ez.

It's a solid EP imo. Don't think it's on the level of alien or obsidian but I enjoyed it
Literally love all of this album. My first listen was like ??? And now I’ve had it on repeat lol the whole album is a grower
personally i loved the EP, but you are right i think it will grow on most people but i do get why people are critical of it, love when they experiment
This EP is amazing! Not as good as Alien, but better than Obsidian for sure. Ive been having this on replay constantly.

Their guitarist Jon who writes most of the bands material said in an interview a while back I think before even obsidian came out that he doesn’t listen to metal anymore. He’s a huge techno and EDM guy and writes riffs to be like the pulse of the beat in an EDM song. It’s clear they were going on that direction starting with Alien. Personally I loved Alien as it had enough metal to appease me since I’m not really into EDM. Obsidian was honestly my least favorite album because they leaned more into the EDM side but it still wasn’t bad. And now they went into it even further with this EP and I don’t really like it. It’s been a good ride and at least I’ll have 5 amazing albums to listen to
