We got three types of Franconian today: Low Franconian (Dutch), Middle Franconian (Luxembourgish), High Franconian (Nurembergish)
The Bell Beaker and Corded Ware cultures existed in the area from around 2400BCE as well
Whaaaattttt....??? All along my life I only knew one Batavia, and it was a former capital city of Dutch East Indies which refers to present day Jakarta. The local tribe in Batavia city is called Betawi which my family belongs to it.
So interesting to know that Batavia name was originally from a germanic tribe in roman empire era.

The Dutch ajd Franks are the same, The Franconian is found all over the Netherlands, France and Germany, now only the Dutch survived. Because the Franks in Gernany have become Germanized. The mostly lived in Belgium, but history made them French.

For real
People need to start making a distinction between the historic region of the Netherlands and the modern country. The modern country derives its name from the larger historic region, not vice versa. That's why in our own language we use the singular Nederland/Netherland for the country, and Nederlanden/Netherlands for the region. Same with Dutch, which comes from Diets, an archaic term that we don't use anymore since it was never used as a nationality but as a general term for all Lowlanders.
Ripuarian, Hossellian, Luxembourgish, Hessian, Rhine Franconian, Lorrainian Fraconian, East Franconian and South Franconian are all the Frankish languages but have been becoming more like Hochdeutsch

Neither was all the reclaimed land. The modern map is the only thing that annoys me about this otherwise excellent video.

It's not like there's anything Germanic or Celtic stuff left here. If you're going to find anything religious, it's mostly Christian and the rest of the more well known religions. It was awesome seeing all the celtic stuff around when I visited Bretagne in France on a family visit. I wish we had as much on display as they have there.

Could have gone on a bit regarding the depopulation and resettlement of most of the Netherlands by Anglo Saxon tribes (Ingvaeones who would later rename themselves to Frisians, the Western Frisians renaming themselves to Hollanders in turn, and others carrying the name Saxon (there's a place in Holland called Sassenheim)). And of course Frankish conquest and settlement of lands below the Rhine in the Netherlands. The tribal history of the Netherlands is very complicated and shrouded in mystery. You could argue the modern day Dutch aren't even descendants of those Batavians or those Frisii as there were 2 major Germanic migration waves sweeping through the Netherlands.
And of course the huge amount of migration occuring during the middle ages from mostly Germany, France (read; Frankish, as the ingvaeones in Holland (read Frisians) had likely adopted the Frankish language or at least were able to speak it due to their trading nature (many Hollandic dialects up until the 1500s, especially in the north, showed strong Ingvaeonic tendencies, city dialects (and especially upper class) being influenced by rich Flemish immigrants whose mixed Flemish/Hollandic dialect would form the base of standard Dutch). In turn the Ingvaeones (again, read Frisians) on the other side of the Vlie (the divide between Western Frisians (Hollanders) and proper Frisians (in Friesland (the province)) would have their dialect heavily influenced by standard Dutch) and Scandinavia (though viking settlement was not as prevalent in the Netherlands, the marshy grounds on the coast were not a very densely populated area back then). Especially during the economic golden age of the Netherlands for both economical and political reasons the Netherlands saw a huge influx of migration from other countries. Don't forget the hanseatic league strengthened cultural ties between Northern Germany and most major population centres in the Netherlands.
Even during the 1800s, cities like Amsterdam saw a lot of migration. My grandfather is from Amsterdam and most of his ancestry I can trace out of Amsterdam, most notably Lower Saxony (this is likely because of the cultural similarities the Low Saxons shared with the Netherlands and the economic opportunities Amsterdam offered), also some migration from other parts of the Netherlands (mostly Holland, Zeeland & Gelderland), some from Belgium and less notably from Denmark and France.

Dutch is a Low Franconian language.
The map is totally wrong! North and South Holland where swamps with not much land. The islands in the north did not exist and Flevoland was just sea!

this border doesnt even make sense. I live in Utrecht which is the middle of the country and that was the border of the empire, we can find roman ruins here. Your border way to low.
The rhine used to flow more northern through the netherlands right through utrecht, he likely based the map on the modern flow of the rhine
