@@DrTrill-nv2dp Hi. The easiest way to assign a static ip would be to reserve the dynamic ip in the router. That way it will use it every time. If thats not an option, you will need to follow the standard process for assigning a static ip on a linux machine. The pi will stay on when the laptop goes to sleep. If there is an open connection from the laptop to the pi, the laptop will close that.

Hi. Thanks for the feedback. I mentioned that in the video but it didnt work for me with the OctoPi image, not sure why though. That said, it works just fine for the main Raspberry Pi OS image.
Definitely interested in the time lapse tutorial. Got an ender 3 pro and got a raspberry pi 4, first time with either. Loving your helpful videos too, thank you
Hey rob, just received my pi . Finally decent price. I am setting it up today thanks to ur videos. After that i want to try to connect remotely. Do you have any video covering that?. Thanks again for ur videos , u r the best bro.
Good stuff. Would love to see you do a Android Octoprint. Pi's are still pricey and I think a majority of people have old phones collecting dust. I just recently set one up and couldn't get my cam to work. I think the issue is with the URL as you stated in your video. Only other issue is you need a USB Power Blocker. But it seems to be working great and much faster then a Pi with less cables. I also printed a holder for the cell phone which works great. Has a screw on it and allows you to angle the camera just right.
Side note. While I have you :). Wondering if you can help me track down a layer issue. In short, my first layer goes down perfectly. Not to low, not to high. It looks Great! Then after say 10 layers it looks like my Z is to low causing it to have indents on the print. I can fix this by baby step the Z a few notches. It was low enough where my Micro Swiss was twitching (to low). I'm also thinking it could be Cura settings as I followed a guide from the web. This is happing to about 5 print jobs I've done. Thoughts? Thanks and keep the video's coming!
Hi. There was actually a chat about that in the discord channel earlier. If i can get my hands on a used android i will give it a try. For the layer issue. It sounds like the carriage or x axis is sipping a little. I would go through and make sure the carriage and x axis is tight (so no excessive moving around but still easily driven by the steppers).
@@3DPrintscape Well good news. My prints are coming out Excellent again. I had to re adjust my Z rod and the upper Z rod holder was on way to tight. Tighten them backed off a bit. Back in business. Oh I also had a loose roller on the left side. Interesting even with the perfect first layer and print I have one bad roller on the inside of the Gantry (Eccentric nut) it's completely worn out. I purchased a 10 pack. Is there an easy way to replace that inner wheel? Thanks for the tip on the roller.
Hey man great video, can u make a video about webcam focus adjustment. Every time i make a timelapse it's get a little delay because it adjusts focus first and then click photo.
Great video! do you know how to set up multiple cameras using the multicam plugin? There are a few tutorials on here but extemely hard to follow and a few years old already.
plug and play for me! I plugged a logitech webcam into the rpi 4 running octopi (the os image) and then on my computer web browser i navigated to the rpi 4's ip address and signed in, clicked connect (to the printer) and then the control tab. I saw the web cam image without any set up. Also, I my octopi was in command line view not the desktop view, I connect via static ip address which is easy to set up.
So I'm having camera issues. I connected it to my laptop to ensure it works and it does. It's plugged into my pi has been for over a year but I went about 4 months or so without using it and not it doesn't show an image. I checked the URL and everything is the same but the camera won't show an image. Ideas?
I just started in 3d Printing so my cam solution is a 40 dollar home surveillance camera, it works with pc and android and I can change angle and zoom, later I would like to try and instal a Ras Pi but they are so expensive right now i'll stick to my home cam until I find a deal on a Rasp.
Thanks for the vid! I came here to start over because my pi wont show up half the time on my wifi and when it does it still won't let me connect to it all the time. Other times it won't seem to power on unless I unplug all the USBs first. Well, I just followed your instructions and it is not showing up on my wifi list in my router. Can you help? Could it be a firewall or something?
Hi. The firewall shouldnt come into play here as its just on your local network. Did you uncomment the right wireless section in the config and add the correct SSID and password? I ask because i missed uncommenting it before even though i added the values lol.
@@3DPrintscape Yes, you're right its easy to miss. I discovered I have to unplug everything or it wont boot up, then i plug everything back in and it seems to work fine. happen to know a way around this? also, thanks so much!
Hi Rob, how would I reset my auto home? I just finished setting up my CR- touch and I installed the creality zip file for an Ender 3 Pro. When ever the CR- touch touches off six times, I notice that the nozzle is hanging off the bed when it’s probing on the right side; is there anyway to fix that? Also, after installing the firmware how would I get the printer to auto home back to the original offsets(X0,Y0,Z0) instead of auto homing at the center off the bed? I’ve tried to find a video on your channel (and other channels) on how to fix this problem, but unfortunately I haven’t found one. Anyways, you do an amazing job on your videos and I appreciate your help.
Hello again, did u have any problems with the z offset, after connecting ur pi to the the printer? I am running ender 3 pro(marlin 1.1.2), cr touch, raspberry pi 4. The z offset I have set in the past on the ender pro was deleted somehow after I connected my octopi (pi4 2 gb). Don't know if it's a thing or if I didn't sth by mistake.
