Has nothing to do with finances. That's because money comes and goes throughout a lifetime, and can be replaced. Those other moments with family and friends however....those you can't get back.

reminds me of my grandfather- he recently turned 102. There's a lost art to the "older way" of doing things. Double-edged razors. 8mm. Repairing appliances- heck even appliances that can be repaired. Whenever I strap on a mechanical watch, I feel that I'm keeping that older way alive- even for just a little while longer. I'm a bridge between modern and vintage. The way things were versus the way they are. Sure modern is great and probably better, but the feel of a mechanical ANYTHING to me is superior to a cold and heartless modern thing. I use double-edged razors, drive a manual transmission, play a musical instrument, can repair things, and wear a mechanical timepiece, both new and vintage. It's relatable to my grandfather and a way to keep the better things alive for years to come.

I never thought watches were special until 6 months ago when my father-in-law gifted me one of his watches. A few days later I started spending hours on end watching CZcams videos, exploring watches, trying to figure out my taste, compiling lists of watches I wish to own one day and admiring the beauty and history of some watches and watch makers. Today, I understand why someone would buy a watch to commemorate the birth of a child and I believe those who say every watch has a story and a soul because I too have become one of you.
I really enjoyed this video along with “I Wish I’d Bought My Grandfather a Cartier.” Keep up the great work!

Very well done gentleman. I love how the subject that was primarily focused on, was the man. It is a refreshing change from the million of watch videos that focus on macro shots and specs. Focusing on the man evoked way more emotion. It was also a nice touch to omit the narration. When the man was watching his film and relived the memory of being gifted the watch, it almost brought me to tears. In that moment I was filled with compassion, empathy, and jealousy. Great videos evoke emotion, and this one certainly did. Magnificent job!

I know that a watch is nothing more than a mechanical mechanism to tell time and it is we as humans that imprint on them. But when such a simple tool is given with love by those that you love it becomes a cherished companion that has the ability to be with you for the rest of your life. And one day this can be the story that succeeds you and is the thing your kids and grandkids will look at as those that knew you and your companion best tell stories of happy and sad times. Times of dad or uncle letting you barrow it for a big date or job interview or times when times were very rough, and money was tight for the family, and he had to pawn it.
