I know this sounds silly but I'd like to believe the verses on Walk Like An Egyptian took some ideas off the verses of this song.

their cover is really good. Anthrax has a good time, more than so many angry metal bands so it's not surprising they covered a fun tune like this.

Ah, in the old days our music came on a physical item that you could actually keep and do whatever you wanted with (give it to someone when you were finished with it, sell it to a second hand shop, cram it up yr arse, whatever) and those items came with inlays that had all kinds of cool stuff in them. For this Anthrax album (the best Anthrax album IMHO), it had all the lyrics and a little note under this song saying who it was written by, which in this case wasn't Anthrax, so we could tell it was a cover.
Unfortunately we'd no internet so I never had any idea who the fuck they were or what they sounded like. Pity, they sound cool as fuck. Also, Anthrax should never have replaced Joey Belladonna - that other guy sucked balls. Bo!

@@jlunch among the big 4 Thrash Metal bands. Anthrax is like the Ramones - the funniest.

This is the definitive version of this song for me, better than even Anthrax's version ofc (being by the original artist and all). And I'm a huge metal fan.

I love Joe Jackson, but Anthrax took this song to another level. Their version is far superior.

This was the first hardcore punk song along with Middle Class' first 7"

This was a great find for me. I also had no clue that this was not written by Anthrax. It's my favorite Anthrax song and this cut (while not as "intense"-angry sounding) is tighter, faster and surprisingly superior. The Joe Jackson Band is officially on my radar!

This is the first time i heard this oiginal versio of the song. I´ve always known that Anthrax made cover but never heard this one. I have to say i like more of Anthrax version, but it is one of my favourite metal bands since late 80´s so it´s natural for me to prefer what i´ve always been close to.

This is Joe Jackson's song. Anthrax covers the song on their Persistence of Time album.

Paul Kruse Yeah I know. .. I was just commenting that WHEN Anthrax did it, they did it slower and it still sounded rushed...Funny as Anthrax were one of the original Thrash bands.
This - the original (Well it's a Peel session recording) is FASTER & TIGHTER than the Anthrax cover even though it was recorded live in one take and they couldn't post process it!

JETJOOBOY This version really does not benefit from the clean guitar sound. It keeps stopping dead in it tracks. The ending is just a complete anti-climax.

@@JETJOOBOY one of the things I like about Anthrax is they are sloppy as hell. They sound like they are enjoying themselves and not angry at the world as so many metal bands can sound.
