    You should record some royalty free stuff on a tape for demo purposes. Like the song for your end credits. That way we can hear the quality with out you getting in trouble.

    The Toshiba line of portables from the mid to late 80s was quite interesting. I have an old portable FM radio from '86 and it is brilliant. Love it. Keep making quality videos.

    I'd actually argue that the best thing to buy if you're looking for a walkman (to listen to as opposed to tinker with) is one where someone's changed the belts already. You'll save yourself a lot of grief and hassle that way

  • @MacTX

    It's interesting seeing someone get excited over tech I grew up with and couldn't wait to "upgrade" from. I ditched portable cassette players as soon as my parents could afford to gift me with a discman.

    You CAN oil the mechanism, as long as no oil gets on any of the belt pulleys. I did oil them once back in the late 90's, and I could never get it off completely. And guess what, it sounded terrible. The speed wobbled all the time and I had to throw that walkman away.

    Hey Elliot, I discovered a boxed Gameboy the other day in a little hole in the wall shop in London. If I were to buy it as a collector's piece, what things should I be looking out for (model numbers, particular areas of wear etc) and what would you consider a fair price to be?

    • @TheRetroFuture
      @TheRetroFuture  Před 5 lety +1

      For a boxed DMG GameBoy I would say the less scratches on the screen, the less used the GameBoy is (as a general rule). Make sure the screen works! Anywhere either side of £35 is a great deal if in good condition.

    • @RWL2012
      @RWL2012 Před 5 lety

      @@TheRetroFuture i bought a translucent blue DMG the other day (is that a rare colour...?) and peeled off the factory screen protector for the first time ;-) doesn't even have the vertical lines problem which is surprising, and came with brand new fully charged batteries in it haha! i plan to get that one modified with a green backlight, and keep my other boxed grey DMG "stock" (except the repaired screen as that one did have the vertical lines problem lol)

    • @blakeromo
      @blakeromo Před 3 lety

      @@harleyokeefe5193 I wouldn't go as far as to say massive. Black paint and a silver mic button that latches are really the ONLY differences. Mechanically and outer shell are identical with the exception of some WM-3s having a white window border.

      @harleyokeefe5193 Před 3 lety
