- Episode 1 - Oxford Canal. Tim and Pru return with series 2 of the hit show, much to my delight. They return to the Canal that witnessed the beginning of their courtship, and their first canal-boat holiday 40 years ago.
I bumped into this incredible series by mistake. What great fortune for me. It’s not just a story about the canals, but about life and the precious little time we have on this earth. With thanks from Huntsville, Alabama.
I've watched the complete series and I keep coming back to watch it again. I adore these two and their beautiful relationship with each other. I love seeing the amazing places they go and their memories they share. Bless Tim and Pru. ❤️
Yes! This is our fourth go round watching this amazing series. We pray for patients and comfort for both Tim and Pru. I hope Chris Cole will do some sort of tribute when one of them goes. We assume it will be Pru but one never knows. I'm so glad they had this trip not only for themselves but for all of us around the world to enjoy time and time again.
Time and tide takes its toll but never lose touch with nature and the history of a bygone era. There is much for the coming generations to reflect on and savour. No one does it as well as Tim and Pru: they truly live it. Many more locks and canals may they merrily thread their way through with a glass and a pint of that lovely brew. I follow!
I just discovered you last night. LOVE LOVE LOVE you guys! You are wonderful to listen to, an adorable couple….and about the ages of my husband and I. We are 80 and 75. I am encouraged to see you doing all of those locks….oh my we are an active couple, too, but those locks make me tired - especially when there are so many in a row. Of course, we have a big housed and huge yard…so some people think we are amazing….but we do what is important to us. God bless you…. We have had alzheimers in our family, and friends experiencing it. You are soooooo beautiful and encouraging. If that were to become our experience I hope we can be just like you. Every now and again I have a sleepless night and I listen to “my Narrowboat friends” andd simply thrilled to have found your vlogs.
I'm watching them out-of-sequence, each is a gem by itself with familiar bits and surprises.
Watching again on what we celebrate as the 4th of July in the US. Lots of fireworks going off around the neighborhood. Back on topic...Watching this series as often as we have, my wife and I, it's almost a longing feeling. I don't know how else to describe it or if this will ever be read, but it's as if we were homesick in the pit of our stomachs like when we were children, but instead of wanting to go home to our parents, we wanted to watch Tim and Pru travel the canals. If I do nothing else in this life, the one thing I want to do is come over for a few weeks and travel by narrowboat. I know she is not well and it saddens me. @Chris Cole~I do hope that when she passes, you will do some sort of a memorial video so that we may all pay our respects. Thank you so much! Tim and Tammie Miller
This is such a wonderful series Great on the eye, warm for the heart, and great for the soul, God bless, you beautiful inspiring people, 🌹🙏🥂
As an ex-pat,many thanks for taking the time to upload such a refreshing series. It was a pleasure to travel the canals with Tim and Pru,and bring back memories of a memorable week we spent on a barge at Nottingham.
I'm so happy to see this story continue! Absolutely wonderful people...
What a delight! We could enjoy these two lovely people every day. And is there any more glorious backdrop for time spent with loved ones? No, there is not. My husband also is advancing into the depths of Alzheimer's, we are right there with them, sharing the adventure. And precious, precious time. If we can't actually be maneuvering the canals, and we can't, we still have the essence of the adventure. Just glorious!
+Chris Cole And Lady Pru's complexion! And she's in her 80s? And climbing around to work the locks? Truly amazing. Inspiring.
Thank you very much Mr. Cole for saving these excellent videos for us. As I watch this constantly saying that I can be a better person and mate for my wife.
I've seen many other canal videos and vlogs, but this is very special, depicted as a revisit and remembering, reliving, of good times gone by. Typically at this age, it brings a sense of melancholy to the resipy, as they slowly enjoy and sample this life down the canal / memory lane. Even more so with the sword of a pitiful illness endangering a loved one. The special family times and bonds they have created in this way of life is something worthy of envy. Their love, caring, and acceptance of each other is remarkable.
Indeed! Such a wonderful legacy these two have left. Your comment is very endearing.
I love the assorted narrowboat adventures; back in 1984, my parents took a second honeymoon for three weeks aboard a narrowboat, and they described the whole experience, the fun they had, and the fine people they met on their journey. So, seeing this post, and others like it, brings back memories of when parents took their trip.
Just delightful, thank you for posting these gems.
Tim and Prunella are such an elegant and classy couple, special people in this world no doubt. To their children, I hope you realize how Much you should cherish the documenting of this journey. To have this much live video of such wonderful parents to always refer back to in the future will be just wonderful. Love these two wonderful people.
Thank goodness Sonia and Dave did what they did to save the canals after the war. RIP Sonia. It's great to see Tim and Pru stop along the way to visit friends and family too. I'm sure they knew this would be the last time they would be seeing Sonia. I'm glad they did. I think this must be our 4th, maybe 5th time watching this series and it just doesn't get old! We always check google to make sure they are both still getting on. It's unfair the way we have to go out of this life. A pandemic is something I'll bet they never in a million years would have dreamed they'd be going through.
Loved watching the first season of Great Canal Journeys. Looking forward to the second. Thank you so much!
They lived a dream within a dream… What better way to spend life and a perfect marriage
I love Those two
Awesome! Thank you so much for posting.
A few years ago there was a New Zealand couple I knew who flew every year to the UK so they could "canalling" for three weeks at a time. Until I saw these videos I never realized what fun it could be.
Kings Sutton Lock was once Tarver's Lock. The Tarvers were my grandfather's family. Lovely to see.
How amazing! I don't know an awful lot about these locks but am in love with these canals, locks, and the narrowboats. I'm wondering why they changed the name of the lock?
@@ceeceety2320 I presume it was changed when there were no more Tarvers as lock-keeper, but I really can't be certain.
I had to stop this and run shop at Amazon and order a copy of Narrow Boat! Looking forward to it coming to read!
Absolutely superb series. Just superb.
Thank you for adding series two, the previous one had speed issues.
😂 I love this program
These videos are so nice...
Must be nice to crunch into another boat, and say, oh well, that's life on the canal. No harm no foul.
We've all heard 👂 of Bumper 🚗 Cars.......we are now being introduced to the sport if "Bumper 🚢 Boats"! 😁😄😃😆😅🤣😂🙃😉
This is a wonderful series and we're enjoying it so much! Thank you! When will the next episode be posted? Best of luck.
This series cracks me up. Kind of fun to watch, and I love Timothy West and Prunella Scales, but seriously? Every episode is basically the same: putting along a canal filled with extremely turbid water, then opening locks, going into locks, closing locks, opening locks, going out of locks, closing locks again, followed putting along a canal broken up with moments of tea and snacks, some nap time and a smattering of socialization with people on the banks. Holy Narrowboats, Batman! What a WHIRLWIND of excitement! ROFL!
Watch something else then
A friend who is a retired teacher bought a boat and was thinking about a name. I suggested "Messing About" He took the suggestion an that is the name of his boat
I hear them often mention units of measurements more familiar to US Americans.
Ronald Reed ...funny Britain went metric years ago but the people never did..
We Americans are slowly going metric, just not officially.
17:00 One would never just shove their hand down into a pile of grass at the edge of a river in Texas. One might likely be surprised, even bitten, by a Water Moccasin, a very poisonous viper.
Not a problem in England I suppose.
In the background at 43:47? 🤯😳
Doppelganger!!!!!! 🤣🤣🤣
Wieviele Kanalschiffe habt ihr zu vermieten? Müsste mal paar tausend Laberbacken außerhalb von Deutschland schaffen.
Vielleicht werden die dann wieder bisschen normaler ... im Kopf.
1600 LOOKS A BIT LIKE A BEAVER
Depends how rotten the cat is!
ALZHEIMER HOW IT GOING
Be respectful!
@@chris-cole I AM
There is a post that it progressed and short term memory was nearly shot as of 2018 :/
Cant believe (actually i can) that you can empty your grey water (dish, shower water) into the canal. How disgusting is that! The water comes from a river then is contaminated by this process and returns to a river, bloody disgusting and shameful.
