Well said! My wife and I are from The US and are dying to have a long visit to The UK. We pray that they are getting through Pru's condition without too much trouble. It's not a kind disease.
We are back once again to watch these fantastic videos. These have inspired my wife and I to long to visit the canals, taste the food and visit the pubs. It's on our Bucket list and we never had a bucket list really until now. I want to include all of the narrowboat channels that have encouraged us to come!

Having watched a dozen of this delightful series, I chanced upon this episode. Familiar with the topside of London, this discovery of the canal winding through London was absolutely spell-binding: and in the company of this charming and affectionate couple, completed the picture. Thankyou BBC4
While I love the beauty of the USA, there is just no place quite like the UK for its verdant fields, peaceful rivers, and majestic buildings and the canals.
Love this episode as it brings up so many wonderful memories. I'm a kiwi who came to London for nearly 6 years. My first residence was at a hostel just down the road from from the Kensal Green cemetery while I looked for work and more permanent accommodation. Went for a job interview at a school just around the corner from the cemetery for a position in the nursery. It was a successful interview. That was the first job. My last job was in Brentford where many a lunch time was spent pleasantly by the canal.
WHY isn’t this one available on dvd in the U.S.?!!! It was YEARS before I was able to obtain the Bridgewater and Lancaster canal episodes missing from the “Best Of-“ dvd series, but I am still unable to find this one, for heavens sake. So it wasn’t the most civilized experience, or something, who cares-it was real, and much more importantly it has scads of tremendously positive material about London-the parks, the zoo, the London canal museum, Limehouse, the Grapes pub, and more.
I remember you both in Faulty Towers. You were great. I love the English reruns, I'm from America and my husband always asks me "are you sure your not from England?" I love everything about England.
@@patbowman6723 It was John Cleese for sure, but if you google Timothy West, he has a very long list of accomplishments. Very impressive! I'm from the US and never got to watch Fawlty Towers but am going to look into getting the series. I've seen glimpses of it during interviews with John Cleese and it looks absolutely hilarious!

The reason I posted them is because I find there is a charm about the couple, a wonderful history about our canals, a beautiful constable of scenery and this series is very well presented and researched and it is just a joy to watch. Tim & Pru are such a wonderful, charming couple. The canals run through their veins, and their lives. Who better to document such an amazing series? ☺

You can tell a lot about a person who litters. If they act like slobs in public, that means they are slobs at home. If they choose to live like a pig at home that's one thing, but don't treat the public's property like a sty. They should at the very least have shown the guys face on the Video.
It shows an utter disrespect for others, for your surroundings and ultimately for everything. This is the end result of spoiled children who have never been taught any boundaries and have had every whim catered to by spineless parents too afraid, or too lazy to say no.

Plus you actually read the comments posted..so double plus good to you ;) I am seriously considering moving to the UK and buying a narrowboat to live aboard..do you own one yourself? Are there any other series/materials you can point me to to get educated on narrowboat living? Do you have any other vidz you could upload on narrowboats? To answer your question, I don't have a narrowboat (I'm very sad to say) I just discovered a love for the canals here in the UK. partly through the series of the videos I put up here to share that amazing beauty I find in canals, but also the importance of finding time in this hectic world to relax and surround ourselves with stuff that balances our perspective. I literally came on CZcams one time to find footage on canals. This is what lead me to uploading the Great Canal Journeys series. I came across a channel by the name of Sortofinteresting and a young guy by the name of Dan Brown who, up until recently, was a liveaboard on his small narrowboat for 4 years. His channel has so many great videos on canal life, narrowboating, how to stuff, real time footage etc He was based on the Llangollen canal near the Welsh border and the scenery there is just stupendous! I thoroughly recommend watching his stuff. Myself, I live in a place called Worsley. The beginning of the Bridgewater Canal which is rather historic and just beautiful.
