Such a pretty dress love the fabric xx
I love your dress and the scallops finish it off perfectly. If you add ties I think four, thin rouleux ties as in the Sewing Therapy Tie Dress would look nice. Great to extend the Sewing Bee joy - go for it!
Thank you! I love the idea of small rouleau ties and might try that instead!
Thank you so much for mentioning my Sewing Bee Synopsis vlogs!
I loved the style of this vlog Amelia and was great to see some real life sewing.
Love the Rainbow dress and the scallops were definitely worth it ❤
Thank you so much Sam, I really love how the scallops turned out! I really enjoyed your sewing bee synopsis video. So glad it's back on our screens again!
@sewletssparklewithsam do you tell about the episode? I can’t get them in the USA so I’d love a good recap so I can play along too
Very brave of you to attempt to sew a dress in the times given to the Sewing Bees! I would never put myself under so much pressure... It looks lovely 😍 Enjoy wearing it!
Thank you, I will really enjoy this one in the summer. 😊
I love that the sleeves are flipped so the stripes are in a different order, I think it looks fantastic and I am not sure I could live with the stripes running across the whole bodice and sleeves in a matchy way. The scallops are so cute. I love that you pink your seams, it's such a delightful seam finish to me. This dress looks like something that I would have been obsessed with as a kid if my mum wore it, if that makes sense. It looks like sunshine and happy memories.
Thanks so much! The fabric does feel so vibrant and happy, I think my children will love it too! 😊
@@sewamelia Oh, I meant to say, when I have dawdled so long I can't have coffee before I sew, I have a neat little travel mug that keeps the coffee warm. It makes a huge difference to me actually getting onto the machine.
@@velvetvert9431 That's a great idea!!
I really like the fabric you have used and the dress looks lovely
Thank you Janet!
Oh that is a beautiful dress. 🤩
Thank you!
Gorgeous dress Amelia. I really thought you would be in Sewing Bee this year!!!! Maybe next year xx
Ah! It would be such fun! ❤️
Really enjoyed this and a great idea to recreate challenges from the Bee. Love the fabric and the dress is gorgeous 😍
Thanks so much 😊 I am so glad that I finally got the fabric sewn up!
You are such an amazing sewist.. Good job on the time constraints.. I sure could do it in that amount of time🤩
Thanks so much! It was lots of fun to try to sew it in the sewing bee time!
@@sewamelia THat should have been I sure couldn't do it in that amount of time
Wonderful dress! I am so slow sewing and enjoy the process. I am not able to watch the bee so a recap or “spoilers” is much appreciated! A friend sent me recorded episodes from the past!
Ah! Sorry you can't get the bee! Definitely check out Sam's recap videos, they are great! I love slow sewing too - and this pattern was so lovely. It didn't feel too rushed at all in the end!
This dress is amazing! You have inspired me to give scallops a go! Love the blog style videos!
Thanks so much. I am glad you enjoyed the video!
I loved this Amelia! Love the fun chatty style. I’ve also got this fabric and you’re inspiring me to sew it up 🌈
It was such a lovely fabric to sew up and so soft and light to wear too! Hope you enjoy sewing yours up. ❤️
That dress is lovely 😍 that print is such a nice contrast with the scallops!
Thank you! I really like the curve of the scallops against the checkerboard print!
Thanks so much for this. It really adds to my enjoyment of the bee. I may also try one of the patterns or challenges now. The dress looks perfect for summer days. ❤
Thank you so much. I am so glad you enjoyed the vlog! It is such a lovely dress pattern, would definitely recommend it!

That’s a beautiful dress Amelia and the scallops really elevate it, I really enjoyed your sewing bee vlog and hope that you can do more. ❤❤

Your dress looks lovely, the scalloped hems look gorgeous, worth the extra time. Great idea to recreate something each week from the sewing bee, look forward to seeing your new garments
Thank you, I am so glad you enjoyed the video! I agree, the scallops took a while, but were really worth it.
Your dress turned out lovely, it’s really nice fabric. Thanks for mentioning mine and Becky’s challenge. Hoping to do it again this year xx

I live in Thailand and we always get it a few months later, great to get a preview ❤Love your dress, so colorful and I think I will try a scalloped edge on a dress
Thanks! So glad you will get to see it - its a great series! Glad you liked the scallops, they were fun to sew.
Lovely lovely dress! Both of you, ladies, created fresh inspiring dresses. Thank you for the tutorial link. We are staying at the beginning of new sewing era as I see it. And you are contributing, so grateful!
Thank you so much! Sam's dress was so lovely - I really want to make a Nautilus dress for myself now too!
What an enjoyable video. I had already seen Sam's dress so it was really fun to see yours as well. Love the scallops. All of us in the U.S. are so jealous that you all get to watch the Sewing Bee. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks so much, I am so glad you enjoyed the video! Sam's dress was so lovely - I want to make one now too!
This dress is an absolute delight! I look forward to watching more of your videos.

I really love the scallop hem.
Thanks!
Your dress is beautiful and your pattern matching is exquisite. Great job! 👏😊
Thank you! 😊
It's a lovely dress. Yes to more of these videos please 😊
Thank you! I will definitely make more of these videos. 😊
This was so fun to watch and the dress is just fabulous the scallops really add a gorgeous detail
Thanks so much! I have wanted to sew scallops for ages - it was so much fun to sew!
I was considering making this pattern, and you have convinced me. Lovely dress!
It really is a lovely pattern!
Wow 🤩 great job! Love the dress and the scallops are amazing and add a great touch. I agree it would be an idea to cinch it in a bit at the waist. How about you add waist ties to it as per the Darling ranges dress you mentioned? I’ve made that a couple of times and it works really well. Really enjoyed this GBSB related vlog! ❤
Thanks so much Sue! I will check out the Darling Ranges waist ties and see about adding those!
Love the combo of the squares and scallops
Thank you Christine!
Well done you! Love the material and the scallops.🦘🇦🇺
Thanks so much! I am so glad to have the fabric sewn up at last!
Fantastic dress, love the scallops, pockets are a love them but hate them for me too, I’m wide at the hips so sometimes I think it’s better to leave them off but this sort of loose dress it’s ok. This fabric is amazing ❤
Thank you so much! I am glad I put the pockets on, even if it was a bit of a pain!
Great make and love the beautiful fabric. ❤ awesome video
Thanks so much 😊
Beautiful dress...Great job 👏
Thank you!
Interesting that you timed yourself too! Amazing 😮
It was fun!
Lovely, lovely dress, thanks for the video :)
Thank you so much Sue! It is a really lovely pattern and I have wanted to make it for ages, so I am really glad I finally did!
Loved this vlog. Thank you ❤
I'm so glad! Thanks for watching!
Cute dress - well done!
Thanks Loriann!
The pannelled denim skirt is very like the Style Arc Lennox skirt although it has no waistband
I'll have a look at that one. Thanks!
Loved it, brilliant x
Thanks so much! 😊
I think your dress is great and you look lovely.
Thanks so much!
Well done!
Thanks!
The dress is pretty x
Thank you!
Beautiful dress. I find collars challenging
Thank you! Collars are challenging!
Thank brilliant video ❤
Glad you enjoyed it!
Hi Amelia, sadly, the Bee has never been broadcasted here in the US. I’ve been wanting to get VPN since my husband and I watch mysteries at night. We are currently watching the whole Brokenwood Mystery series from start to finish. I love your scalloped dress-so happy looking!
Sorry you can't get the Sewing Bee! I love a good mystery to watch, I'll check that out! Thanks for watching the vlog!
Brokenwood is in New Zealand 😉
@@2siameezers Then I definitely need to check it out!!
Tily has a great tutorial on how to do a scallop on the marnie blouse
I'll check it out, thank you!
Subscribed. This is fun
So glad you liked it!
Yes ❤
👍❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Oh dear Amelia, I feel so guilty for saying this, as I would never have attempted to make something out of such a bold geometric pattern, but have you cut out the sleeves upside down? Many apologies.
It appears you are correct 😢
I guess the pattern is running a different way from the skirt, but I'm going to call it a design choice. :)
And it is still a knockout!
You really have to look to notice the color sequence doesn't match. I usually see those things right off and I had to consciously look. It's such a cute dress.
What I did notice right off was that the right sleeve blue stripe aligns perfectly with the blue stripe on the body of the dress which I really liked.
It looks fantastic to me!
I have a question…because you have ironed the pieces will it shrink when you wash your garment? I always enjoy your videos and although I press like but almost never send a comment. Thank you for presenting different “how to”
Thanks for commenting! I was quite careful about how I pressed the fabric - especially before I cut out the pattern. Because it is an oversized dress I am not too worried as there is room if it shrinks up a little after washing.
For a waist cinch, how about a tab with 2 button holes you could add?
That's a really good idea!
I always end up drinking cold coffee.
Always! 🤣
I was not was going to say anything but no, the Sylvie skirt is not even close to the skirt made in the first episode of the sewing bee. That skirt was meant to be a structured skirt made with medium to heany weight fabric like denim or corduroy. It had to be topstitched throughout and had a button placard down the front. How is a zipper and making a button placard close? One needs a good very good sewing machine that wouldn't struggle to make clean button holes.
With just a needle and thread one can install a zip.
Also the sewing bee skirt, had a structured waistband, that is meant to fit to size, not flexible with an elastic like the Sylvie skirt. If I really wanted to make a skirt like the one in the bee, does the sylvie skirt have instructions to change their style to a front placard, structured waistband skirt?
Thanks for your comment. There are some obvious differences to the pattern in the Sewing Bee episode. However, I think I mentioned in the video that the patterns I mentioned were more suggestions of similar patterns based on those I had sewn before.
For more exact pattern suggestions do head over to the Fold Line as they try to find a more exact match for each pattern sewn in the episode.
I hope you don’t mind if I ask you where you got your lovely cardigan from?
It was from Boden a few years ago now.
I like the sleeves, the only thing is they are so long on your arm the scallops aren't as visible as the could be if they were just one inch shorter...
A change I will make for next time - they did come out quite long!
Would you make the dress again?
I would! A few adjustments to make, but I really want to make it again.
Too much talking and hardly any demonstration for me.
Thanks for your feedback.
I dislike heming
Me too! But the scallops made it much more fun. 😊
