It’s a hot mess. We go to work and in the middle of the trip flights cancel and then you can not get back home. My last trip I ended up getting home 2 days later than what I was supposed to. I don’t know why they consider us essential. We don’t need to be taking tourists to Cancun. Shut it down!!!!!!!! It’s ridiculous

@@samoneisdancing LOL No worries at all! I was only wanting to make certain that neither you nor Stella were going to get your hopes too high about LGA. If history has shown us anything, it's that "hot mess" is a term we've all grown to associate with LGA, whether that be directed at the construction going on during renovations inside the terminal or on the streets and areas outside around the terminal. lol
More importantly, we rarely hear about aircraft ending up in the East River today, like we did 20 years ago at LGA. I'll take "hot mess" due to construction any day over having to read/hear about yet another aircraft ending up in the river at the end of the (absurdly short) runway.

We’ve been having a hard time finding food on overnights. Hotel restaurants are closed half the time. It’s been such an eerie experience. Thank you all for coming to work! ❤️
Fast food drive through may be your only option unless you can have it delivered through grub hub or some other similar service.
I interviewed with AA back in December. I was so sure I nailed the interview, turns out I didn't. 😒 But that's okay because I do believe our prayers are answered even if it's not what we want. If I had gotten the job I would be training two states away during all of this and I have a 7 year old who is out of school right now and I wouldn't be home to be with him during this crazy time.
Needless to say I will apply again, the timing just wasn't right for me.

It seems so weird that just this January I was taking AA flights back and forth all the time and complaining about the lines and the crowds. I would give anything for that life back. So much has changed in just 2 weeks, I totally understand the anxiety you are feeling. As a midwesterner and someone who gets in conversations with strangers in a friendly town, our days are so quiet now. Life is so lonely, and scary- and everyone is on edge. Stay safe and sane. It's sooooo eerie seeing the airports and flights so empty 😳I'm on reserve the rest of this month and then took a leave for April. Stay safe Stella! ❤️
At least the airports are still open and not closed like after 9/11, leaving people/airline crews stranded for days and traumatized by what occurred. This is troubling, for certain, but it is best for all airline personnel to NOT put themselves at risk right now, and it should be mandatory to wear gloves and N95 masks right now, both for your safety and passenger safety. It was wise of you to take an LOA. No one needs to subject themselves to possible permanent scarring in their lungs; no one. Sure, some people recover (seemingly?) without any long-term health issues, but the problem is that some people also aren't aware that they have underlying health issues that make them more vulnerable when they do get infected, and this is true for both passengers and airline personnel.

As an NHS worker, we are obviously still working but it is very weird how quiet the corridors are. The ED is practically empty and the canteen is closed. Very different than how things were before.

As a flight attendant i am worried too i never seen airports so empty and i am scared. My company has told us we have resources but i feel like you do concerned. I hope this is over soon please take care of yourself.
Airports were empty during Desert Shield, then again when it morphed into Desert Storm, and the entire airline system was shut down for days after 9/11 (I mean NO ONE but US Airforce and Navy fighter pilots were flying, and people were stranded all over the world during that time, too). It has happened before you were born and after, even if you are too young to remember it.
This will eventually pass, just like the 1st SARS outbreak and the Swine Flu outbreak did. If it turns out that it becomes an on-going public healthy issue (like measles, polio, tuberculosis, pneumonia, chickenpox, smallpox) they (governments) will make the enormous capital investment it takes to develop a vaccine.
@natcat07 I specifically replied to Nancy's comment. However, I can see that her name didn't automatically populate into my comment at the beginning. I didn't even read your comment, so mine was in no way directed to you, even though you seem to have taken some degree of offense to it as though it had something to do with you. Perhaps it rang a bit too true, so you assumed it was meant to be at you?
...and I can tell how old she isn't because she states that she has "never seen airports so empty and [she is] scared". That tells me how old she is not because they were empty for months after 9/11 and especially in the first few months after. Then again after the shoe-bomber was caught on board in December 2001. If you were old enough to be traveling in airports at that time you certainly remember that, too.
However, most people who type a response such as "unmmmmmmm" are very likely still in their 20s or early 30s, at the latest, so perhaps you weren't old enough to really recognize just how empty the airports of the world were at that time (and certainly not back during Desert Shield/Desert Storm).

Stella, your amazing to keep working during this unknown time. Also I read that you should always have lotion with you bc of all the times you should wash your hands the cracks in your dry skin can get infected, so when you wash your hands, put lotion on after. Safe travels!✈️✈️

It is certainly a strange time to work in aviation, i am our company's Chief Pilot and i am back on the line with so many people out of work... Never thought that would happen in a million years. But i have to say it is great to be doing some regular flying again... its also nice not having to queue for security (KCM does not exist in Australia)
We have crew lanes, but don't get any special treatment for the actual screening

Your airline sending y'all out without any kind of reassurance on food is terrible. Mine gave us a credit at the hotel restaurant outside of our per diem and made sure the hotel restaurant would supply us with food. But that was last week (like when this blog was filmed). We're grounded except for domestic flights now. And we're a small country so domestic is just one rotation.

Same as me in the UK Karla, I get so anxious before I head to work in a hospital each day. We face higher viral loads, I personally dont think flight attendants should be working, planes are flying petri dishes at the best of times!

Unfortunately I don’t think flight attendants are allowed to. They’re given no safety measures and they see the same or more people than medical professionals usually see in one day.

Nah, there was H1N1, which shut down schools in parts of the US in 2009. This is a larger scale but more of the same. And the Ebola outbreaks in Africa had even worse quarantine measures than this for Africans

Hey. If your still in the hotel. Use doordash. Also. I hate to say this, but this covid-19 virus protocol is helping make my job so much easier. Im an over the road truck driver, so going through major cities such as NYC and ATL are normally 2-3 hr delays but now i can blow through them as if on a normal highway. Stay safe stella.

I disconnected from my Facebook 5 days ago. I feel so much better. I never watched the news anyway. I've gotten a jump on spring projects around my house. I work in Healthcare, so I'm updated daily on the happenings. I also meditate. Be well❤❤
Same here, I decided to take a news break for a little while🙏My mental health got so much worse after being exposed to the news on a daily basis. I was living in a constant state of fear and panic, and even started to develop unpleasant physical symptoms. I can’t do more than what I do already anyways. I’m informed, stay at home, wash my hands etc. I really don’t see the point in increasing my anxiety any further. I’m still worried, but feel calmer now after I started avoiding the news (tabloids, forums etc.) Stay safe everyone❤️And thanks to you Stella for posting this video! Take care of yourself. Stella, please wear gloves at all times. On and off the airplane.
Better yet. Wash your hands....a lot. Every chance you get. If wearing gloves flip them inside out when taking them off, dispose them and wash your hands.
Wash wash your hands ! Wearing gloves just passes on germs.
I’m pretty sure if AA allowed it, they would tell everyone to wear them. Even though they can be more harmful than helpful.
That doesn’t help. Washing/sanitising your hand every 30 minutes and not touch your face is what is necessary
Gloves just spread germs, unless you change your gloves and wash your hands after every single task. Your best bet is to just wash your hands (properly). I’m a registered nurse working the front lines.
