I agree, you should build your self confidence and self worth on your own first, marriage is a great thing but if you depend solely on your partner to validate your existence then you won't have an identity for yourself

Steve said my exact words. “Me time” is very important. Establish an identity and dont let it go for ANYBODY. I always depended on my boyfriend for my confidence, which caused problems. He always hyped me up and builded my esteem, but I started thinking “if we broke up what would happen?” All of it would be lost and I would have a feeling of no self worth. I told him I needed alone time to work on myself to build up my own self esteem and it worked. It actually resulted in less arguments (I would cause the arguments because of my insecurities) but since I’ve found my identity, I ain’t care about who he used to be with because I’m here to stay. And even if he did leave me, I can still be that independent person I was before. I cannot stress how important self identity is.

Totally agree with the panel here and Steve. We have to find balance between caring for our families/ spouses/ children and having time for ourselves.

It's like 60 40 to me because i need more time to myself than with my other half, to be me but i still need enough time with them to. At the very beginning we were more into ourselves but that caused too much missing of each other and as time goes on you naturally wanna spend more time together.
There has to be a balance. A lot of people don't know how to balance. That lack of balance is where the conflict comes into play
My girl wanted to see me 24/7... it took me a few months to be able to tell her how i felt about that... I needed some me time alone. She cried, it was roff but now I’m happy and still love her

The last thing that Steve stated was exactly on point within myself because it's how I'm feeling now super lost except it's because of my relationships of 6 years that went down the drain... now if it wasn't for my kids I wouldn't know how to keep on pushing and I am going thru major depression and a sense of not knowing where I'm going in life sucks big time. But my kids keep me a bit motivated to keep pushing at least for them. but once their gone to college or w.e, idk what Imma do with myself. I'm definitely not starting over with another man.

I made it me time even when my boys were little, in between little league, travel baseball/soccer, practices everyday of the week. The boys were 3 sport athletes thru high school and have since graduated HS and college just this past 2017. I devoted my all for the boys....... So, "It is SERIOUSLY, ME TIME ;*) and I haven't skipped a beat when it comes to having fun. We live once.

@@eclipseshadowyt5917 This happens when you invest or pour your all into nurturing the relationship or your partner and not info time spent developing yourself as an individual.
You end up giving your all to them, out of 'love' and losing yourself in the process. More often emotionally and mentality.
Nothing is wrong with investing into a relationship, but at the same time you must always put yourself first and love yourself!

At the moment I just wish to stay away from relationships, it’s so hurtful and I just had a gf brake up w me recently bc she said she lost herself in the relationship and I did everything to make her feel loved but it wasn’t enough.

Just like every situation it depends on the individual. Some people will require a lot of me time while others won't. It's definitely an individual thing. There is no set formula for it. Do whatever works for you and your mate in your situation.

Amy Musa aww well are you in the USA? if so you say you are 18 you have rights. Do you have other family members who are less strict? If so, maybe you can move with them and begin to have some sort of freedom. But, I would try to convince my dad to let me have a job. He will not be able to take care of you forever. You have to learn how to take care of yourself in life and fall make mistakes and get back up and try it again. If you never experience highs and lows as a grown adult it will be hard. Are you in school?
