A thrilling and entertaining period drama that depicts the brave spirit of a ronin who is caught up in the turmoil of the Numata Domain's family conflict and boldly storms into the domain's headquarters.
The ronin, Sakai Kanbei (Takahashi Hideki), set out to deliver a package entrusted to him by a samurai to the Numata Domain in Joshu. However, he soon discovered a conspiracy being plotted by the castle's chief retainer and the lord's concubine to eliminate Princess Tsubaki (Miyazaki Yoshiko). At the center of the plot was Nakatsugawa Shume (Natsuki Isao), a former rival of Kanbei. Kanbei stormed into the domain's headquarters and rescued the imprisoned princess...

陰謀が露見した後、椿姫とシュメは藩に戻らなかったと言う事なのですか。椿姫ではなく、妹が養子をとって後を継いだのなら、自害した側室や家老の陰謀は半分成功した事になりますよね。妹姫には罪はないですが、ハンベイが苦労して生きながらえさせた椿姫にとっての正義は戻らなかったようですね。シュメも椿姫を守ったのなら、藩主の娘を守ったことになるので、藩主の忠実な家来になる筈なのに、どうして侍を捨てなければならないのでしょうか。終わり方が中途半端です。
