    👍I have the '18 Touring L 62k miles and absolutely love it drives like the day it was new. Buy the ESS Auto Stop Eliminator for $80, small module you install behind the shifter, it holds memory so you never press the button again at every start.. I hate ESS I pressed the button once 2 years ago it's been off ever since .. Highly recommend Van, it drives like a car, solid, tight, quiet and powerful

      @@VantasticPacifica Exactly!!!! And if they're going to put it in they should have left it with memory so all we had to do is press the button once and it stays off rather than pressing it every single time you start up the motor. 90% of the time you forget to turn it off anyway and you're basically stuck with it engaging 90% of the time... That's where they get you cuz they know you forget so they're getting their own way with this working more than not

    The sunroof opens halfway because its meant for the Front passengers a second tap would be if you have rear passengers

    • @VantasticPacifica
      @VantasticPacifica  Před 3 lety +1

      Right, I get that but what if I never have rear passengers and I always want the sunroof to open all the way? I probably would mention it if the solution weren’t so simple. Just add a double tap feature. For those who want it open all the way, they could double tap the button and move on to other things. Instead we have to wait for it to open half way, then push the button again. Kind of annoying.

    The review of functionality is absolutely spot on! I have an odyssey and concur with all your niggles that are shared in both minivans. The center console especially. Mine, being an older version folds down so you CAN pass through to the back. Obviously the newer ones ditched that because.. so bean counter thought it was cheaper to put a solid cube in its place.

    Great to see a 1 year review video. Thanks for putting it out there. I test drove the Sienna hybrid. Was noisy at highway speed and not great pickup. I heard the Pacifica was quieter and more pickup but I have not driven one yet. All the little issues put me off. One of the big things is I would not want a center console at all. I used to have a van that rode high and no console. The stick shift was there and I could easily get into the back with no effort. It was a Japanese model not sold in the US and had a steering well like the VW vans use to have. Fun to drive.

    Thank you for your review. I have one of the last Town and Country AWD minivans and was looking to buy the Pacifica AWD sometime in the near future. I think you could pick harder if you wanted to and I look forward to you doing that in the near future. I was looking hard at the Toyota Sienna but 2 things really bother me about it. First it's only available as a hybrid. I really dont want to buy that system as I tend to keep a vehicle a long time. 2nd is the lack of stow and go- hence I love the easy to convert camper you created. Lastly- my Town and Country has 2 removable center consoles. I'd probably find a way to remove yours as it appears to be so useless. Have a look at a replacement or make your own with your good skills. Thank you again

    Very enjoyable video. I enjoyed your voice and humour. I agree with your thoughts and I would add they (American car companies) should consider owner disassembly. My experiences have shown that Japanese cars are far more easy to disassemble for access to repairs and maintenance.
    Just yesterday I was assisting my friend to change his belt in his 2014 Ford Taurus interceptor. This was the first time I have seen an American car easy to work on. It took all of 2 minutes to change the belt and the belt route was super simple. My thinking is, because they make those interceptors for actual government use, they make them easy to maintain, unlike the common car owner they make things impossible to do simply.

The 5 or 6 seconds of waiting before I can hit it again is the real problem. All I'm asking for is like a double click option that will close it all the way. Hydrochloric acid to clean the rims. A Chrysler Pacifica is one of the easiest vehicles to keep clean as long as it isn't white. White vehicles are much harder to keep clean. Just a thought. Thank you, I'm glad you enjoyed it. I did eventually get that back up camera fixed. There was some module that needed to be replaced. No one knows why it needed to be replaced but it cost $800 and that feels a little like highway robbery but it has made me a believer in warranties. I used to think cars didn't break down until they got high miles but nowadays, cars have so many sensitive electronics, anything can go wrong at any time. And apparently it can cost $800!
      I'm not expecting any trouble from the engine. It's the same Pentastar V6 they put in Jeeps, Dodges, Rams for years. I heard somewhere it's considered to be pretty reliable. I don't know much about the transmission but I'm up to 58,000 miles and it's working like the day I bought it but I haven't done any towing or much mountain climbing yet.
      I wasn't overly concerned with potential maintenance issues when I bought this car. I was more concerned with how big of a bed can I put in it and where can I put my sink. But I have to say so far, the Pacifica is meeting all of my expectations on both accounts. Hope that helps.

      Thank you so much for watching my video and taking the time to write a comment. I truly appreciate all comments, even critical ones. I don’t really disagree with anything you said but I worry I may have been misunderstood in some areas.
      You said I was being “nit picky”.
      Well, that’s for sure. I definitely was but I believe I admit to that in the video. My overall opinion is that the car is great. I love it. I built a whole CZcams channel around it. The only things I don’t like about the car are small nit picky stuff most people could live with.
      You said “And the center console you do not have to take seats out to get something.”
      While that is true, I didn’t actually say it. I said the seats would have to be removed if you want to remove the center console which may be necessary to retrieve an item lost inside it. But I could be wrong. Please tell me if you know a better way and I’ll put it in a video and credit you.
      Then you said “And that's what arm rests are for.”
      I’m not sure what this is in reference to so I don’t know how to defend myself. How about we call this one a draw?
      Finally, you said “I don't always want the sun roof open all the way. It does get hot. I like I can open it different ways.”
      To be fair, I must acknowledge the possibility that this statement was not intended to be a reply to anything I said. You may have simply been offering your thoughts on the sunroof. If so, I thank you. I love talking about cars. For what it's worth, I also don’t always want the sunroof open all the way. I very much enjoy limitless venting options. My only complaint is the way the button works. Maybe it works differently in your van but in mine, if you want the cover to open all the way so you can enjoy that sweet panoramic sunroof, you must first hit the button, then wait several seconds, then hit the button once again. I’m just wondering how hard it would be for the manufacturer to program a “Double-Tap” option. Hit the button once, it opens half way. Hit it twice, it opens all the way.
      Forgive me if I talked too much. I’m part nerd on my mother’s side.😁

    • @VantasticPacifica
      @VantasticPacifica  Před 3 lety +1

      Better? I wouldn't say that. The Pacifica has Superior technology like adaptive cruise control, Lane keeping assist, rain sensing wipers, Wi-Fi and Surround view cameras. But at the same time it's two or three times more expensive than the Grand Caravan. But if you're looking for a van to camp in and you don't care about all those fancy gadgets, I think the Grand Caravan is better. There's a version of the Grand Caravan that has a bench seat in the middle but it still has the space under the floor for stow and go seats. And removing that bench and storing it somewhere it's far easier than removing those stow and go seats. The floor in the Grand Caravan is also a little bit flatter which makes life a little easier. I saw a brand new Grand Caravan that would have been great for what I do and it was only $25,000 whereas I paid twice as much for my Pacifica. But in my defense, I really love those fancy gadgets.

    Did you do the recall on the backup camera? I bought my 2019 last month and it had the open recall which was supposedly done before I picked it up. I’m hoping to love this van for travel but a little worried about a couple things. One is why is the headroom so low to get into driver’s seats? I’m only 5’4 and I have to duck to not hit my head on door frame unless I lower seat all the way down. Do you have this problem? My biggest worry is that there is something wrong with steering. When I make a sharp turn it feels like something grinding or resisting underneath , not sure how to explain it but concerns me since I bought used with only 2,200 miles as to why they traded it in. Does yours do that? No one else that drove it said they noticed anything. One cool thing I discovered about it though. If you move the front seat all the way forward, lower all the way down, remove headrest and recline all the way back you have a really nice recliner with the second row seat. I’m thinking I could probably even sleep there for naps.

    • @VantasticPacifica
      @VantasticPacifica  Před 4 lety +1

      Okay, on The Back-up Camera... I have not done the recall because all they want to do is eliminate the few seconds that the camera is still on after you put the car in Drive. This was something that not only did not bother me but I actually like it so I had no desire for them to fix it. But I've already been told by the dealer that recall would not solve my problem.
      As far as the low headroom on entry, I wish I could help but I have not noticed this. I'm 5-11 and I seem to have ample headroom.
      I'm picturing what you said about turning the middle seat into a recliner and I have to say my mind is blown! I can't believe I never thought of that! As soon as I'm done writing this, I'm running out to the garage to try it!

      Vantastic Pacifica let me know what you think after you try it. Maybe you could do a video showing people how to do it. I’m thinking lots of Pacifica owners do not know about it. I’ve never seen it in a video.

    Start stop feature is the worst thing invented on a vehicle. Most vehicles have a deactivation feature. If there is no deactivation button I would not buy the vehicle. A simple one touch button, no messing around in settings.

      Lol! Damn, why I gotta be a fool?😂 In my defense, the device I use to make my CZcams videos is a Canon 4K camcorder and it does not fit in the center console. I don't have 12 GoPros but that would be nice.😁

      But yeah, I never thought I'd drive anything that wasn't an SUV. Not gonna lie...I do miss 4WD and ground clearance but other than that, I have no regrets. This thing is kinda amazing. I'll get another Jeep some day but I'm gonna keep the van too.

    First I must say, I am a fan of the Mopar product. Love Chrysler cars. After viewing your video and hearing your questions regarding certain features, this is what I'd say; Certainly the Start&Stop engine feature is ridiculous and dangerous (the scenario you used was a perfect example). The cost of replacing a regular starter for the job its designed to do (which is crank/start a heavy motor) to get you from point A to B with just one start is costly enough when after its 10yrs of service are up, now imagine having to replace a heavier duty starter more often than needed? Nope, that feature will be turned off or disabled. The electric sunroof cover seems to have been designed to the point of proper standard choice (in my opinion), basically the one person who would normally operate it is the driver (up front) which is why it only opens half (like in usual vehicles). But since it can Now accommodate the opening towards the rear passengers, Chrysler designed a checkpoint at which to open up to, hence, pressing the button once for just the front, twice for full/rear. But I imagine you already knew this. As for the center console, my friend, it is what it is since its design. It wasn't designed for the use of a laptop while driving, its just cup holders and for nick nacks. My favorite feature of these vans are the Stow-n-Go. We are currently looking to replace our 05 Town&Country, (which I know All about, since as a mechanic, I took care of All of its mechanical and electrical maintenance) and wife is more for the Sienna than my choice of Town&Country or Pacifica in Red Salsa, Metallic Ruby red or a nice Blue. Cheers 🍻..

      Thank you for your comments. I agree with almost everything you said. As far as the center console goes, we can stay within the Mopar family to find a better center console. I was impressed with the one they use in the Ram 2500. Lots of space to put all kinds of things. And then the and then there's the sunroof... You're right, I do understand why they do it but it's not a one size fits all solution. Even though I'm the only one in the car, I still want the entire sunroof to open at the push of 1 button. The simplest solution I can think of would be if they allowed for a double tap of the button. I don't mind pushing it twice like I'm double clicking a mouse but it doesn't work that way. You have to push the button and then wait for it to open halfway and stop before you can push the button again so it can continue opening. I realize it's a little thing but if it's so little, why can't they fix it?

      @MusicMinisterJP7 Před 2 lety

      @@VantasticPacifica Lol, well, I understand your desire. You ask, "why can't they fix it?" Simple math for them, its not broken, "if it ain't broke, why fix it!" That was just the way they designed it. The consumer will jus have to deal with the chore of pressing 2x. Cheers..

      @VantasticPacifica  Před 3 lety +1

      To be fair, only two of my many whinings were safety related and I did preface them by saying they were safety related. But either way, my message to manufacturers has always been to put whatever features you want on my car as long as you include an OFF switch. Am I asking too much? Anyway, I appreciate the great comment and thanks for watching!😀

    I have a 2019 Pacifica with 48k miles. Radiator started leaking. Chrysler says sorry your out of warranty. I have to literally rip the entire front end off just to replace it. I noticed lots of oil leaking from literally every spark plug and a couple of other components connected to the engine. Once again Chrysler says sorry not their problem. I would expect oil leaks and radiator issues at 100 to 150k miles but not at 48k. This van is junk run away!

      Wow that's crazy! I noticed people have been having wildly different experiences with this van. I'm sorry your experience isn't one of the good ones. I'm up to 168k on my 2019 and I've no mechanical issues. I haven't even had to change the brake pads yet!
