Create a blue/cyan film fade effect in After Effects

    I would love to take a more evidence based approach to emulating this characteristic. I see this video as more of a starting point for thinking about this than a tutorial that's meant to be followed precisely.
    I have an educated guess about why this effect occurs, but I'm inferring a lot, so I didn't want to include it within the video itself.
    My guess is it's a byproduct of a fade performed optically using a subtractive film printer.
    In subtractive printing, filters are used to correct a film's colors, a cyan filter for example could correct a skew towards magenta.
    The guess part of my thought is that the filter is calibrated to correct the film when it's at full brightness, but once the brightness lowers, like during a fade, the filter provides too much of a correction for the darker image.
    That said, anything along the imaging pipeline could play some role, from the negative stock, to the developing, any optical printers, the final print stock.
