James, you can call skin1004 just skin angel. 1004 is "cheon-sa" in korean, cheon=1000 and sa=4 which also means angel in korean!
Omg thatâs it!! Thanks for sharing đđđŒđ
@@JamesWelsh i feel like i was called out when you said "someone told me how to pronounce it but i forgot" đ glad that it helpsđ€
Yes tis a pun đ

That 1st Centella sunscreen is ABSOLUTELY beautiful and as a brown girl, it does not give me any ash. I bought it because of you and I use it! (reminds me, I need to get some more)
Iâm so glad to see this comment because I wanted to say the same! Itâs such a beautiful sunscreen. On really hot days, itâs amazing. I keep mine in the fridge
I am definitely going to try this.
Hi can it suit oily acne prone skin?
Is it a mineral sunscreen?
â@@jessislistlesswhat do you mean by fridge?
I've been using the Beauty of Joseon one for about a month now and it's amazing. As a dry skinned girl, I love the glow it gives me. I work outside, so it's good to know my skin is protected as well as cared for.
Is this also good for oily skin?
@@brownboii305 I'm not really sure myself, since my skin is dry. Maybe check reviews online? Because if it is good, it's a really nice one. Nice texture. I mean, it makes me glow, but it's not a heavy creme. It's very light.
I wanted to love this one, but unfortunately, it pills on me :/
I'll use it up (I purchased multiple tubes) on my arms to protect my tattoos now that we're in shorter sleeved work attire weather.
I truly cannot believe how night and day my skin is after find BoJ. I think i am just allergic to something in all of the western sunscreens i was using
@@brownboii305 YES! Been using it for about 4months. Goes on dewy, but absorbs into skin nicely after 10-15mins. No white cast. No pilling when paired with gel-based moisturizers and reapplications. Love the soothing/calming benefits it has. Also got the matching sun stick to mattify on days I'm EXTRA sweaty and oily. Was worried about trying it, but glad I did. Only product that gives me a natural glow instead of the "grease bucket" look.
My skin/environment factors:
- Brown skin (oily-acne prone)
- Redness/Irritation struggles (from my environment)
- I live in a dry desert heat region (warm and sunny year-round with summer temps reaching 110F)
- I SWEAT easy and kind of a lot (just going from the car to buildings/running errands)
Hope this was able to answer your question đ
I'm super fair skinned so I'm always on the hunt for good sunscreens that aren't greasy or smelly. I'm so tired of sunscreens reeking of coconut.. lol
get aqua sungel 50+ from Missha :) its really light, in summer i even use it as a base for my make-up
Round Lab Birch sunscreen is so good for me. Feels like a light moisturizer that sinks into your skin with no scent
Beauty of josean scinic missha isentree there are tons of nice ones on K beauty
I'm the same, I bought one from Primark weds, for âŹ4 , I didn't think it would be good, to be honest it's brilliant no white cast or anything, it's a serum
Holika holika aloe waterproof suncream and Apieu pure block sun gel ard my most recent faves
hi James! Love ur skincare videos . They really inspire me!! As a boy who gets hated on for doing skincare + some makeup I rlly love how you are sooo inclusive!!! keep doing what u r doing !!!
I love it when boys are into skincare and makeup, I'm always trying to get boys I know into skincare. Keep doing what you are doing too :D
thx sm!! đ«¶
Benton won my heart! It's the texture and green tint that made it my fave and has emptied too many tubes! Love loveee it!
The suncream queen is at it again! đđ» all t no shade! Super informative and Will absolutely be checking if these are available down-under.
Iâm obsessed with the Round Lab Birch sunscreen. Iâve already stocked up on it. Iâm so used to western sunscreens that when I tried Round Labâs for the first time, it was so shocking. No thick and white smelly sunscreen that pills up đ
I love the way you speak, your pronunciation and intonation!
I would really suggest everyone to try the skin1004 hyalu one. I finally found my holy grail sunscreen in that product. I had major issues with SPF causing stingy eyes, because I have super sensitive eyes. I tried many sunscreens and this has been so far the only one that has not caused any stinging. And the texture is so good - it is like milky serum, like the name says - sun serum. It does not leave any greasiness and absorbs/disappears so quickly. I love how light it is.
100% agree. I also have really sensitive eyes and itâs the first one that didnât make my eyes sore, watery and puffy.
Does it leave a white cast? I have somewhat tanned/darker Latina skin tone lol
Unfortunately for me it burns my eyelids:( I wish this one would work for me since it come in a pump and isn't as shiny as others
How many pumps of the SKIN1004 Hyalu-Cica Water-Fit Sun Serum would you say are required for the face on average?
@@maikfist 6-7 for the face and 3 for the neck
The RoundLab birch juice one and Abib stick are 2 of my absolute favourites too! I tried the Tococo one after your recommendation but I must admit, I kinda really hate that feeling it leaves behind. It feels suffocating on my skin I always rush to wash my face as soon as I get home. But I love trying out sunscreens so I can't wait to get all the other ones you showed!
Im a winter person too! Im so glad to meet another one. I feel like everybody loves summer.
I saw Centella in a previous video I been using it only for a few days, it feels great, and I haven't had a breakout so far (acne prone ski).Thank you!
Definitely interested in Mary & May! I fell absolutely in love with their peptide serum.
Iâve been wanting to try the skin1004 sunscreen, thatâs next on my list. I just tried Aâpieuâs sunscreen in the blueish green bottle and itâs amazing. Such an underrated brand
I adore the Skin1004 sunscreen it's one of my favorites. The Abib one is also my favorite for replication, and it goes amazingly over makeup. Another one that I love is the Cosrx aloe sunscreen, so hidrating and soothing.
@MSD I have dry skin. I only use it for replication, usually over makeup because I wear makeup most days. I use a liquid sunscreen in the morning before makeup. With the Abib sunscreen, I go over my face about 4 or 5 times to make sure I apply enough. It doesn't move my makeup much and leaves a nice glow. However, if I feel greasy, I do a little powder over and more blush. I rarely do this because I have dry skin. If you have Oily skin, it is probably best to use blotting paper first before application. I sanitize mine with sanitary tissues after a few applications because, for me, it doesn't remove much makeup, and I am the only one using it. Good luck! Another good one is the Isntree Hyaluronic Acid Airy Sun Stick. This one is a more matte finish, better for oily skin, in my opinion, because it doesn't leave that glow behind. It also wears beautifully over makeup. I use this one more for summertime. I also tried the Beauty of Joseon sun stick, and I do not recommend it for application over makeup. It pills, and it doesn't apply evenly. The liquid one is fantastic, though.
Is the skin 1004 shiny?
@no one said that no, but it is moisturizing and leaves a bit of a glow. If you don't want shinny. I recommend Dear Klairs Airy sunscreen. Amazing for summer time and not drying but not shine at all.
That Abib sunstick is absolutely BEAUTIFUL, and goes on completely clear and smooth
If you're wearing foundation, does it go away after using it?
@@cristalgahanreznor7519 Not if you put it on gently and don't use too much of it

the skin1004 transformed my skin, love it so much!
Yay for new sunscreen brands to try! †đ
I'm glad youre reviewing more sunsticks. I haven't bought any korean sticks yet, but I'm excited about the mary and may one...mainly just bc its purple đ.
I've been loving the PURITO - Daily Soft Touch Sunscreen - it's so matte on my oily skin!! i love it!!
O0o0o0 I love your nail polish, James! Have a super day! đ
ROUND LAB HAS MY HEART
The new Skinfood is really good†Also Haruharu Wonder Just lanched 2 sunscreensđ
Great video! Lots of new products to try! Thank you! Keep up the Korean product videos. What about anti-aging routines? For the over-40 set, what are the key ingredients we should be using?
Used Mary&May and I love it. Smooth and powdery so perfect for reapplying anytime.
Ive been really liking the b lab matcha sunscreen, super hydrating and it gives me a great glow, i have dry skin.
Dang I needed this 2 weeks ago when I was stressing over buying sunscreen đ I ended up getting Skin & Lab I hope itâs good lol
I really like the benton one you showed (except for the scent) and I also really like Klairs sunscreen. Could you please do more content like this, like best serums/toners/moisturizers etc
Thank you James, love your videos. Can you talk about sunscreens for the body? Donât ever hear much about that. â€
The only person I trust with sunscreen recs!
Following your previous sunscreen suggestion, I wear makeup atop the Centella (the cica one) every single day following Tatcha water cream and itâs absolutely the best. I even put primer on top and it behaves so well and doesnât break me out the way emollient sunscreens, both chemical and mineral, often do. I am almost done with my first bottle and already have the 2 pack from Amazon to replace it. Edit: I have extremely oily skin, I mean extremely.
Glad to know it works well with Water Cream because it is my HG moisturizerđ„°
Hellloo đ great timing James, ive just ordered Beauty of Joseon Sunscreen for the first time. Im excited to try. But its a small bottle so will need one again soon. So this video is handy. Thank you đ
Unfortunately 1.7oz (50ml) is the standard size for facial sunscreens. It's supposed to be enough for a month, but it doesn't account for re-application. I wish more brands sold facial sunscreens in larger packaging.
â@@sarahcarroll8206 ahh okay, thanks Sarah. I should have ordered a few then lol. Thank you đ
Is it good for oily skin?
@@brownboii305 yes it is totally, I have combination skin, more oily on the T zone, and it just soaks in beautifully. Doesn't clog or drag. Make up goes on lovely afterwards. It is hydrating but not in an overbearing way.
I'm 3 days in using it, and it is one of the best so far.
@@emeraldeyeslioness that is awesome! I'll have to get some. I have been eying a lot of their products. Thank you!
Thanks for this video! I want a sunscreen that doesn't smell and won't break me out! That's what keeps me from wearing sunscreen like I should.
Great information đ
Thanks for this video, I waste so much money on sunscreen that leaves a cast or is to greasy! this has given me some great brands to try! X
Currently I live in Kyrgyzstan. And last time i saw Round Lab spf on the shelves in November. Because people buy it all in one day after restocking.
I use Tocobo though. Itâs lovely to use, i like the smell and skin is really soft to the touch after.
I like the SKIN1004, Abib sunstick and the round lab one, and also Scinic essence and sun stick, the bellflower blueberry sunscreen, Dear Klairs airy fit and the Purito daily soft touch sunscreen are faves of mine. I recently got the new one from Make Prem, UV defense me watery capsule
I have oily skin and I LOVE the Mixsoon suncream. Itâs become my new regular sunscreen.
I find it dries down to a velvet matte feel, not a drying matte finish.
So far I havenât reacted negatively or broken out from it, so fingers crossed.
I do enjoy the lavender scent when you initially put it on, which goes away after it dries down. But Iâm hoping the lavender oil doesnât cause me problems.
Loveeeee these sunscreens, but I wish they made bigger packages. It feels like I'm always ordering new ones since they get empty real fast.
Personally the Round Lab and Boj sunscreens feel nice, but they do sting if my skin is a bit irritated and they also make my eyes water :/ but the skin1004 ones are amazing !! They donât ever irritate me and feel so so nice, I also just got the Tocobo sun stick and itâs soo good
Totally agree in regards to the Skin1004. Great for sensitive eyes. The only one Iâve tried that doesnât irritate them.
agreed! i buy it most because my eyes don't react to it at all
I get burning (all over not just eyes) from BoJ, Round Labs, and another Kolmar brand I can't remember and now I'm scared to try Skin1004! Talk me into it cuz I love sunscreen...
@@ursusarctoshorribilis5079 I would recommend the skin1004 air fit sunscreen (if you have light skin bc it can leave a white cast) itâs a mineral sunscreen and a little bit thicker than their water serum one but the one really doesnât sting even slightly! But if you have darker skin I would still give the water-fit sun serum a try because itâs great
Please please James post your hair care routine for us and what products u use I really like and love your hair and how healthy it is would love it u share with us â€ïž
Much love :)
My goodness, I had to pause and get onto Stylevana to look for the abib stick. I bought 2. One to try for myself, and one for my husband. I have been trying since I found your channel to find a sunscreen that he will use on his face and REAPPLY. The problem is he works outside all day in the midwestern US. Itâs hard to find something that isnât suffocating or will weep into his eyes with sweat. Thanks James! We will see how it goes!
Heyy, how did it go? Did you/your husband like the abib quick sun stick?I've been thinking of purchasing the abib sun stick, its extremely hot and humid where I live
Love your videos James, you are the sole reason why I went from horrible acne ridden oily skin to smooth, managable, clear skin. I had a question tho, I never wear make up but when I do I feel like I can't reapply sunscreen. Do you have any recommendations or ideas to help with that?
Have you tried the new Byoma sunscreen? looks quite good (think they've added an eye gel and balm cleanser to the range too). Would be interested in a Korean spf cushion review for reapplying
Have you tried the B.Lab Matcha Hydrating Real Sunscreen? Itâs been my favorite latelyđ
Thanks to you I have bought some of the best sunscreens that don't give me a rash, sting, or dry my skin such as Beauty of Joseon and Skin 1004. I'm looking forward to trying the others you are recommending. Love your videos đđđ
Is the skin 1004 shiny?
Hello James đ Happy Friday đ
Super love the skin1004 sunscreen! Been using it for while now and never had any issues. I have sensitive skin and some chemical sunscreens sting on my face (like the BOJ one) but after having tried the skin1004, i stocked up immediately! đâ€
Love your videos! I've been diligently applying sunscreen every single day since I found your channel four years ago! I live in Korea and one new sunscreen I've been trying out lately is Goodal Calming moisture sun cream, it's really nice, you should try it out if you ever have the chance :)
I use the second one, Guess it's not cheap for how much product there Is inside, but it's really Easy to apply, Just light as a mosturizer, and I'm totally in love with the pump, It Just gives u the right amount of product with no waste!
Fabulous reviews. I'm here to watch everything where Beauty of Joseon spf isn't mentioned đ€Łđ€Ł
I was so curious about Mixsoon.
Did you not like it?? Or are you just sick of the hype? (I'm considering buying it myself)
@@JD.727 sick of the hype and it's nothing exceptional if you're familiar with Asian sunscreens. But try it though you might like it lol.
hi love this info thank you - i would love to know the best of mineral sunscreens (if you recommend)? x

Would love to know what you think of the Isntree Hyaluronic Acid Airy Sunstick. Their Hyaluronic Acid Watery Sun Gel is my favorite sunscreen so I would love to know if the sunstick is nice too!
Heya James! I was wondering if you would try the Kahi wrinkle bounce sunscreen? I remember you saying that you liked their multi-balm stick, and I recently saw that they do a sunscreen within the same product line!
Woo winter is best
Im using Mary and May Cica Soothing Sun Cream and ill probably never ever replace it :) i wanna hear your review on this one :)
The Dr. Ceuracle Cica Regen Waterproof Sun is my all time favorite!! I know it's pricy so I'm glad I got mine during last months StyleKorean RSG đ I tried the BOJ sunscreen and stick, the abib sun essence, a couple from Neogen, Dr.G, and the Skin1004 (I hate that pump!!) but Dr. Ceuracle has them all beat for me.
I just ordered this. Are you break out prone?
@@laceysmith6477 I go through phases of pretty bad cystic acne. It comes and goes but when it's around it's a nightmare. This sunscreen does not aggravate my breakouts thankfully. I can even sleep in it (which I have only done by accident a few times) and still be fine.
@@Yummi_913 thank you so much! I ordered this but i have very sensitive acne prone skin so itâs anxiety induced trying new products but this one looked great for summer weather!
I love the Papa Recipe Bombee Honey Moist Sun Essence. Received a sample in my Ipsy bag, fell in love, and now it's sold out everywhere indefinitely. đ
Not a Korean sunscreen but I absolutely love the Mad About Skin sunscreen, it's really amazing, affordable and UK based
Plus its formulated to be applied twice a day, not like others which are every 2 hrs.
I agree MAS sunscreen is amazing.
Wow interesting, I've never heard of them! I should check them out
Havenât used my skin1004 because my face loves the Isntree one. Excited to try it but I just reordered the Isntree. đ
That skin1004 is maybe my fave. But there are so many amazing ones to chose from. StyleKorean just sent me 6 to try and I literally could đ t pick a favorite đ
I can't go back to regular sunscreen after trying Asian sunscreens! I haven't tried any of the ones here but I do like the Kose Suncut brand.
My mom loves the Missha Skin Velvet i believe is it with the pink cap that gives a velvet finish. Personally I still super enjoy BOJ sunscreen.
Could you do a video on the best sunscreens for the body please? đ
Hey James! What are your thoughts on the beauty of joseon sunscreen stick or the AHC Natural Perfection Double Shield Sun Stick?
Hi James! Have you used Mischa Essence Sun Milk? What do you think of it?
Girl SAME about hating summer lol Im in WA state in the US (Twilight state lol) and it was 80 degrees today đand I work outside on my farm ugh. Sunscreen sticks have been a Lifesaver â€
Can you please do a video of the best affordable sunscreens available in the UK and UK drugstores? Pretty please đđ
Dunno if you know Roundlab came out with suncreen stick and for reapplication of suncreen in Korea they also use a Suncreen cushion compact it's like a normal Korean makeup cushion but it' s just suncreen and it definitely doesn't rub off makeup
Please give idea about spf refresher on makeup đąâ€â€â€â€
Hi james looking to cut steps in my morning routine because right now im applying all my makeup in the car there's just not much time. Is there any sunscreen that's moisturizing as well has vitamin c??
James, can you make up a video for tone up sunscreen? Maybe some recommendation to cover red blemishes complexion?
Need a similar one for all physical sunscreens.
Same!!!
@jameswelsh What do you use for your body sun protection? I wish all sunscreens felt like kbeauty sunscreens but there's no way I'll ever be rich enough to slather it on my whole body lol.
Vaseline and Nivea have body lotions wih 24 and 30 spf sold at drugstores here in South East Asia. Been using them since years ago. Are they sold at your region too?
does the mixsoon sunscreen work well as a makeup base too? and how is the reaction with the eyes?
Iâm definitely going to try a some of these. I have been looking for a good face sunscreen. My only problem is that I donât reapply when Iâm wearing makeup. I havenât figured out how to reapply without ruining my makeup.
It would be good to showcase Asian or other excellent body sunscreens that can be used for the face, too. It may be a little cheaper and you also get a large quantity of it.
Iâve been using the Scinic enjoy super mild sun essence for about a year now and I absolutely love it if you havenât tried it. I have dry skin and have to use a moisturizer under it, but itâs not greasy, makes my skin so soft, no white cast, and itâs just overall great
i love it too! itâs so affordable as well đ
Im so proud of standing by the brand and that specific sunscreen before it became viral....in south korea đđđ
Twenty years ago Lancome made a sunscreen with a bit of bronze and bit of glimmer. Do have any recommendations for sunscreens that protect and also add that certain bit of glam? Maybe I should buy highlighter powder? In the brutal summer I use Neutrogena mineral and Cover Girl loose powder and Coppertone spray on my body. Coppertone is the smell of summer for me, and spray sunscreen is so easy to use. It's for your arms and body, not for your face. The back of my neck is so hard to cover, I just spray it. Glitter spray sunscreen for summer parties! And don't forget the frangrance.
So you and Robert, your first collab product should be a line of tinted and glimmer sunscreen. Creams, powders, sprays, sticks. Tinted. Natural. Glam. Matte. Colors!
I love Korean skincare but finding a sunscreen that works for me in the summer is something I really struggle with :( The ones I've tried are fine during the winter but during the summer my face looks so oily and I can feel that weird sweaty feeling that you get when a cream is too heavy for you.
Hi James do you still like the cosrx aloe sunscreen. Good price I have brought one that and beauty of Joseon one aswell. Which I love
Have you tried the Beauty of Joseon Relief Sun. Iâve been using it for a year now and luv it. Also Glow by Ramon collaborated with Beauty of Joseon and created a matte sun-stick which I also love. It really tones down the shine during reapplication.
Is this good for oily skin?
@@brownboii305 The Relief sun is glowy. I have an oily tzone and I donât mind it. But it is really light weight so I would say yes because it doesnât feel heavy. But after it soaks in I use the matte stick to get rid of some of the shine on my nose and forehead
Me too re: winter! I burn just looking at the sun lol
what sunscreen would you recommend for reapplying when you have makeup on?? thats my biggest problem >< i feel like the sticks or liquid form would ruin or move the makeup....
can you recommend any heavy duty korean suncare & body suncare?? iâm a farmer đ and itâs definitely difficult to find nice sunscreen that is also heavy duty
I love the Missha Aqua Sun Gel, but I believe they have changed the formula. Is there any sunscreen you have tried which feels similar in texture and how quickly it sinks in. Iâve tried the Beauty of Joseon but personally I donât love it under makeup. Itâs great on its own in my opinion.
I also have super sensitive, combination skin. The canmake mermaid sunscreen (clear) has been a game changer for me. Also love the Tocobo stick!
James, do these still look good on reapplication? I tried an USA sunscreen that pilled on me in reapplication đ
James Welsh can you suggest which among these doesnât oxidise on skin. I have been using tocobo after your video last year but my skim turns dark after 10 mins of application. All make up products on me turn dark too.
James, have you tried the Garnier over-makeup spray mist? I've just purchased it and its incredible over makeup, but because it feels like you're literally applying nothing I wonder how effective it is đ€
you read my mind
Haha if your a Canadian (like me) you are definitely a summer person. Where I live winter just doesnât want to end!!!!
I am in Michigan, and canât wait for summer! I am sick of being teased with warm weather one week, and winter or Fall the next!đ
Lol not this Canadian! We've been having some really hot summers and with no AC, I'll take winter any day. You can always bundle up, but there's only so much you can take off! đ„
Iâve just started using sunscreen daily now we have some superior Korean options. My only gripe is what you said at the end, you het through them soo quick! Why donât they have bigger bottles of the stuff? Youâre supposed to put two lines on your fingers for the right amount, but I feel like I have to use it more sparingly so I donât get through 4 tubes a month đ might have to try that reapplication stickâŠ
I love that the subtitles have decided you're taking a "taco bell" stick and rubbing it on your face đ
Hi what are your thoughts on the Biore Watery Sunscreen in 2023
