    Biore is actually a Japanese brand. As for the blue dye in sunscreen. Some Asian sunscreen has it for color correcting or 'brightening' features (usually in Asia that means making you look fairer). In fact Biore UV has one specifically with that. Tried that, nice texture and all but the brightening part is not my jam.

    Beauty of Joseon is one of my favorite sunscreens and I am so grateful to you for introducing it to us! It’s very lightweight, it disappears completely, does not make you shine and look oily and it is not comedogenic which has been an issue with almost all of the sunscreens I’ve ever tried.
    The only hiccup I’ve had with it was when I just began using it while taking accutane. My skin is very sensitive right now and it took me about a week of getting used to but now we’re friends and it is doing its job perfectly well.

    First of all: I really like your videos! Thank you for educating us ☺️
    I'm from Germany and here in Europe the UV filters "benzophenone" are forbidden cause they are carcinogenic.
    The thing is: We also don't use "octocrylene" because they decompose into benzophenone.
    So I would not recommend buying SPFs that contain these filters 🙏🏻

    • @littlesthepitbull
      @littlesthepitbull Před měsícem

      Which sunscreens, if any, did she recommend that contain benzophenone (which apparently also goes by diphenylmethanone or
      Diphenyl keton?) it would save me some research as I’m now looking up the ingredients for everything recommended here to make sure that none contain this ingredient!😮 thanks for the heads up. I had no idea.

      Hi Dr Idriss, Love you & your channel! Are you familiar with the Purito scandal of 2020 where the their popular Centella Green Level Unscented Sun sunscreen “SPF 50+”, was shown to only provide SPF 19? I was wondering if this has impacted your, of any of your viewers’, trust in their sunscreens? The company’s response to the findings, was really blasé and left many of us afraid to purchase from this brand in particular, as well as the manufacturer of other K-beauty sunscreens (including Dear Klairs). I realize that some sunscreens sold in the US, have also been tested, and shown not to contain the SPF advertised, so it could happen anywhere and from a video I just watched by cosmetic chemist & You Tuber Lab Muffin, there are a number of reasons this could’ve happened so not sure if they were deceitful or just negligent, but the way the company responded really affected my faith in purchasing from them. Here’s an article about it, and the problem across the board on sunscreen testing, in case anyone is curious. nymag.com/strategist/2020/12/what-went-wrong-with-puritos-sunscreen.html

      @nicolek.6945 Před 17 dny

      @@littlesthepitbullhere the ones from missha and scinic :) it's relatively easy to check cause octocrylene (as in these cases) are uv filters so it's one of the first ingredients if you google a product :)
      Of course Dr. Idriss is a medical professional and I am not! It's just what those experts in my country/ EU told us 🤷🏻‍♀️
      I don't think it's worse to use these sunscreens instead of no sunscreen :) On the other hand it's just easy to buy one without these ingredients I think :)

    Thank you for yet another extremely educational video! While I realize the majority of your followers are of the younger generations, please don't forget about us oldies who are (finally) able to benefit from all this wonderful information (so us in the 60+ sphere). We are dealing with decades of skin neglect through ignorance, so hoping you might dedicate one upcoming video to products that may help reverse (wishful thinking) problems like glycation, etc. Personally, I would love to see you discuss the pros/cons of the Matrixyl product lines: 3000, Synth-6 targeting horizontal/forehead wrinkles, and the newest one Morphomics targeting more vertical wrinkles like nasolabial. Olay also has a dedicated moisturizer that is a combination Niacinamide + Peptides (It seems to absorb well and give a slight 'tightening' feel, although I have not be able to find the percentage of Niacinamide in it ... Olay's claim is 99% which doesn't make sense to me).

      I’m with you! Going to be 60 this year and still don’t wear sunscreen. Our generation, as you said, just didn’t know. Just like the smokers of the 50s didn’t know it was bad for their health. I may try one of these and hope to hell I get in the habit of using it. 😅

    • @cherylmyers5095

      @@Sufferingsassafrass I'm hitting 70 in the fall, and I've tried doing the sunscreen thing a few times and under makeup they were all disasters. Unfortunately, I'm still a smoker although have been able to cut back but not totally kick the habit ... while most likely doing major damage to the body, has kept me out of the homicide detectives grasp. Back in our teenage and 20-something years, no one saw a dermatologist ... not even sure they existed. Then as the years went by (working, running a household, dealing with kids, etc.) who really had the time/energy to even think about what was drooping, sagging, losing volume ... above and below the neck. My goal now is to try to undo a little of that damage and make the undertakers job of making me look presentable in the casket a little easier.

    • @MyCleverHandle
      @MyCleverHandle Před rokem +5

      @@cherylmyers5095 I've been using two very good tinted sunscreens, alternating between Australian Gold SPF 50 and Bliss Block Star SPF 30. Both are available for around $20 at Ulta (Australian Gold) or Target and WalMart (Bliss Block Star). I use them as a one-step sunscreen, primer and creamy base/foundation on my fair-skinned 63 year old face. They both work well over lightweight moisturizers and under loose or pressed mineral powder foundation, if I want a little heavier coverage. Most of the time I just set them with a light dusting of translucent pressed powder, well-buffed with a good quality brush. I have rosacea, and trying to color match its moodiness with traditional liquid or cream foundations became impossible about twenty years ago. These sunscreen products both have a nice, semi-satin finish, and contain mineral-only active sunscreen ingredients, so they don't cause any extra irritation around my eyes. At times when my skin is particularly sensitive, like during dry, windy weather ("Santa Ana" winds here in Southern California), I use the Australian Gold as both of these sunscreens do have some fragrance and the Block Star's scent is very citrusy and can be irritating to my face. They both remove well with the two-step "double cleanse" method that seems to be the norm these days; the Australian Gold is very water resistant and sometimes needs a little micellar water as a final step for complete removal. I should note that I also live in an area with very hard water; sometimes my cleansing routine ends with a final wipedown rinse with distilled water on a cotton pad. I have found great improvement in the texture of my skin since starting to wear sunscreens on my face every single day, a habit I started only about 10 years ago. Now if I could just find some magic potion for the sagging jowls, droopy hooded eyelids, deep vertical lines around my lips...I have a high-mileage face, but the sunscreen helps by not allowing new age spots to crash the party. And of course, you know you have to quit smoking, I did thirty years ago and have no regrets. Good luck!

    Biore is J-Beauty btw and they make a lot of great skincare products including sunscreen. I've tried this one before and it has a nice gel cream texture that absorbs quickly, so ideal for those with oily skin. But I believe it has fragrance and a bunch of citrus extracts that could be irritating though, so sensitive skin proceed with caution. Hope this helps 😊

      Actually, European sunscreens have far higher PPD protection. PA++++ is only at PPD 16. La Roche Posay’s UVMune400 is at PPD 46, Altruist PPD 54 and Isdin Eryfotona PPD 61.

      Those sunscreens you just listed are the exception and shouldn't be used to represent European sunscreens as a whole.
      The vast majority of European sunscreens don't disclose their exact PPD ratings and usually don't go much higher than the required minimum, which is 1/3 of the UVB protection. So in the case of a SPF50 sunscreen the PPD would still be around 16/17 for most European sunscreens which is equivalent to PA++++.

    Other Asian brands also have a lot of fantastic SPF (Biore is actually a Japanese brand for example) pls do a ep2 for this series! I personally get my Asian SPF from Yamibuy I initially just use them for Asian snack but end up also getting Asian SPF from them lol but pls remember to filter for fulfilled by yami only. A few that I would recommend trying are: Elixir advanced day care from shiseido, decorté multifunction sunscreen, mistine aqua base ultra protection. So many L’Oréal brands like kiehls and lancome formulated the “same” sunscreen completely different and the Asian version is always so much better 😂

    I would order far enough in advance of running out of a product I've come to rely on for daily use. The problem is, from my POV, is that you don't know how long skincare items have been sitting in a possibly unheated or non-air conditioned warehouse waiting to be shipped. This questionable storage time can adversely affect the active ingredients, and the formulas can separate in their containers. So it's not just a question of inconvenience, but of efficacy.

Always on the look 👀 out for new ones…
    One I found a year ago at Target is the “Undefined R & R SUN Serum” it’s mineral and one I actually enjoy on my face because it doesn’t dry or cause peeling being a Mineral Sunscreen, looks great under makeup and I believe it’s now also sold at Ulta. Love your videos !! I do love long format, although I assume it can be hard to come up with enough content!
    I had a couple questions. A) what do we do about peach fuzz on the face? I’m only 25 and I feel like I’ve noticed it more in the last couple of years. I think as women age it gets “worse” too, but are there factors that worsen it? It’s all very blonde so I haven’t been too stressed but around my lips I notice it more.
    2) I did an aloe Vera mask last night (like, bought the plant and scraped out the gel), and I kind of feel like it did something! Face felt super soft and smooth today. It’s obviously not a glorious texture, but I read there are lots of vitamins, minerals, and a bunch of other components in it. Do you think topical aloe really would make a difference in skin texture/target any problems ? Can any of the nutrients get absorbed through the skin barrier?
    Would love little shorts about these! ❤ have a beautiful day!
