Snow Owl is the fastest and by along way if you are using the ground boost properly. I have not even watched this yet and can already tell Nooblet has no idea Owls have a ground boost ability or this whole vid would not exist. The Owl can glide/skim the ground land for a fraction of a second and then boost off from it, the speed gained from it is vast.
Lol Noonlets even says you need high on the owl to gain speed, dude you are dead wrong, it's at its fastest when close to the ground as it's main boost ability requires it to boost off from the ground over and over, the glide is much slower.
Still a noob after all these years ..... :) Really tho I assume you did not play extinction much, glide at the ground, the bird will start extremely fast walking animation tab space when this happens to boost off. You gain 500% move speed for 3 seconds. It makes the Snow Owl more than twice as fast as any other flyer if you are able to do it properly. I have tested it flying laps of SE vs all other flyers. How ever the Snow Owl requires solid flat ground to do the boost consistently, and it's timing requires some practice.

I feel like a lot of people don’t know this but when using a glider if you hit the ground at a running angle you go super fast and then when you take off again you go insanely fast (the fast takeoff is kinda tricky to get but it’s very noticeable when you do)
With the griffin if you peg of a rock you will be in a landed position but flying forward at a ridiculous speed then hit the takoff before you touch the ground to keep it going, i used to do that on ragnorock to blast across the map.
I just do the dive bomb run thing when I’m by water so that then I can run and look up then touch the water and instantly fly up
Yes i Always use this, it's super quick and easy to do. Nooblets is also the worst griffin rider I've ever seen, he really didn't do the griffin justice.

When you are using the Tropeo hold spacebar when the green arrows appear in the bottom right corner, it allows drafting. You can also do it behind other dinos when you see the air deflecting off of their wings.
For all the people wondering where the Rock Drake would stack up, I did this same exact test and got to the rock in 7.2 seconds, and all the way back in just under 16 seconds.
when you increase movement speed on a rock drake, does it also increase their glide speed?

It should be noted that the speed buff is only on Tropical Crystal Wyverns (not on Ember or Blood). The buff that it gains is the Hydrated buff and works the same as on a Spino. Touching any water that causes the swim animation on a character (even while flying, say just brushing the water with it's talons) Grants it a 20% movement speed boost as long as it remains touching water or for 30 seconds after it no longer is. But the buff also gives it sharper turning, 15% more melee damage (which does effect it's breath attack), and 25% more health.
The Tropical Crystal Wyvern can also drape damn near half it's body in swimmable water before it dismounts the player. When it dismounts you over water it's fairly easy to remount and keep going, given that it dismounts you as standing atop it. As long as you let go of pressing forward reflexively when you accidentally dismount (so you don't run up it's neck, off it's head and into the water). Even if you mess up and end up running off it into the water when dismounted, It usually will have some large portion of it draped in the water, so it's really easy to get that "ride" prompt before even breaking waters surface. This actually makes it really good for getting underwater drops, as you can park right over the drops, dive down, grab them and be back on your flyer before surfacing.
Functionally the constant refreshing of the buff is like long shallow dive bombing. It takes practice to get good at. But when well practiced and on the right map (The Center and Crystal Isles or ideal maps for it. The Center even has entire areas where the buff is always active) this thing is the fastest flyer. It can outpace a tropeo with that buff. On a PvP map it can even make the tropeo effectively slower as it's breath attack does both ticks of health and stamina drain and can be fired at full speed. So in a race you can cheat a little, blast a tropeo while passing it and ensure it doesn't have the stam to catch up when you loose your buff.
I think it does best on scorch earth

Technically I would say they're more like a gliders than fliers. Gasbag? that I'm not sure what to categories that. More like a hot air balloon so technically a flyer.

Oh, also, tropeo has a diving boost too, but the momentum doesn't carry over to straight flight like the griffing, or even swooping upward like the owl. Tropeo also gets a drafting boost from other flyers being nearby.
Properly controlled. The gasbags should be the fastest here. The key is to angle it low and hit the ground before the return trip. Also, unlike the other fliers, you can level speed on a gasbags. Plus, you can take a gasbags to aberration zones. It is the most versatile and fastest mount here.
Desert titan is pretty cool though, definitely my favorite flyer.

Ok...so if you're going to include gasbags you should probably include the managarmr and rockdrake.
It would also be great to see a race between the top 3 flyers + a player in full TEK armor and the new hoverskiff.

i use tropical wyverns for everything other than farming at this point, they outrun anything and are so easy to tame even on official
Wyvern just dumb down everything imo. Good weight, good hp, good speed, good damage, can carry most dino ingame, easy tame.

crystal wyverns are the #1 tame for harvesting charcoal on dododex.

@Blake still a speed test, someone who doesn't know ark would see it and might wanna see a flier speed test and think that it's a video on see what the fastest flier is, and seeing as nooblets is for teaching newer players about ark, then it fits the bill

If this test was performed over a longer distance (like most flights you take in ARK), the Griffin would perform far better. It takes a little while to gain altitude, but then once you have that, their dive bomb speed is faster than anything else, and that makes every subsequent dive bomb easier to get - Wyvern only appear better in a short test like this because they have nearly instant acceleration: their top speed is far less than the Griffin. And by requiring a 180 in the test, Tropeos get a clear advantage. Over a long distance they might be better (especially if you use utilize their drafting mechanic) but they cost gasoline to keep up.

Bringing a brake in was the only way I could make Genesis tolerable to play long term. I understand they were trying to make ground dinos used more or something but it just became frustrating to me.
The Owl hands down does not have the same conservation of energy as the Griffin. It's MUCH worse on the owl, I have tested this.
However the Owl slaps the Griffin in strait flight no dives.
U can speed glitch on a snow owl tho to get a very large boost of speed

This is moderately unfair to the gasbag, since of those tames it is able to increase its speed if you put points in it, thus the basic speed isn't op.
Do the test again but use a measured line of like pillars or ceiling to keep you flying on the same path each time. In a count of seconds slight path variation could add up to make a difference in your results.

@@darkprince6543 Wyvern stay always a good pet, and more true for tropical, really easy to tame, and usefull for early tame and the best it's a verstile pet you can fight, fly or carry :)

yes. and why only 2 breeded with imprint? the Crystals, the Pteranodon, the tropeo and so on are breedable too. so it wouldnt change a lot beside the placing of the not breedable ones.

Of course it depends on how you use your level-up points. If one is just for travel speed put all of the points in that.
I love how all of the creatures are like natural bodybuilders who doesn’t take steroids but last one was just having more steroids in its blood system then actual blood.

@Blake who told you tap is slow? If you have imprinted high level it is faster like a pteranadon. Rock Drake is a glider but does not require much altitude, so it can also be used

What about Rock Drakes? Sure technically they can't fly (same with Gasbags though) but their glide and divebomb is pretty dang fast.

You also forgot the tropeognathus has the speed boost ability that increases speed considerably when holding the jump button when the status affect appears on the bottom right.
You can see it here in the video as it appears as a wing icon. Idk what causes this affect but it seems to be location based as while playing on crystal isles it always activates in the griffin trench.

Like others have said, snow owl and Griffen both can do a running take off move which is difficult, but insanely fast. Also why no.. is it called magmar, the ice one. If you included the rocket bird it should count too.

Pro tip i discoverd: if you fly up a bit with the snow owl, then dive straight down and barely land on the ground, the owl will get an high speed buff for like 2 seckonds, id you start flying right about getting this buff, you will fly damn fast, then you just fly up again with the buff and with a bit of training, you can get super fast

i still think that the fastest way to move around is a rockdrake, also bc it wont kick u off if u have to land on water, it's as strong as a wyvern, but can carry more, u lose the posibility to carry another dino but cryopods exists so
I think you should test the managamr
If you practice a bit with the diving you can also dive from start to gains speed going up, when the speed cursors around the owl go away, redive, and redive etc, i use this aswell as going up and down, and id bet i could break your record there 😜
Works on the griffin as well, and even if you touch ground when diving with griffin, and emediatly press up again it jumps up and dashes extremely fast forwars.
Seems like a bit of a glitchmove honestly.
You still gotta see the speed markers when you land, dont bomb the ground, just gently touch it and you should be able to shoot up and worward bigtime.
Also meawing could glide this round in 5 seconds when used well 😂
Did they nerf the managarmr? I remember when extinction first came out I was Able to jet from one biome to another as long as I had stamina. Heck I even died one time because I flew into the barrier which was made of fire. Now it can only go a short burst and fall to the ground. If I remembered correctly, this method was definitely faster than the tropeognathus.
They nerfed it. It's alright, but not sure if it's even worth getting after the last nerf. Definitely not if you have a Drake.

Snow owls speeed goes up with imprinting, so if its fully imprinted, it will be as fast as a tropeo at full boost

I think you should add a Rockdrake to this the Astrosedus and the Voidworm.
