    Did the Rupin Pass trek with IndiaHikes in May, 2010. IndiaHikes was in it's early years and it was one heck of an experience. Thanks to the team after more than a decade. It's been one of my most cherished memories😊

    Great video, thanks Swati. What would be temperature in October 2021? Do we need down jacket and rain protections? Do we get to climb snow bridges in October?

    • @Indiahikes
      @Indiahikes  Před 2 lety +1

      You'll definitely need a padded / hollow-fill jacket as your outer most layer. October is pretty chilly, there will always be a nip in the air. The temperatures during the day will be between 12-18 degrees. During the night, it will drop to 0 and -1 or -2. You'll notice that the mornings are very frosty.
      So carry a minimum of three warm layers. If you're prone to feeling more cold than others, carry a pair of thermals for the night as well.
      The snow bridges are not likely to be there in October.

    Hi Swathi and Arjun,
    I have planned to get myself ready to trek, just waiting to covid norms to subside and get vaccinated too.
    Few are the treks I have planned as per the chronology:
    1) Kedarkantha Trek
    2) Gaumukh Tapoban Trek
    3) Rupin Pass Trek
    4) Chadar Trek
    5) Everest Base Camp Trek (via Gokyo Ri)
    Any suggestions?

      @Indiahikes  Před 2 lety +1

      You should definitely include Gidara Bugyal to add variety to your list of treks. Gidara Bugyal is a terrific meadow trek, you'll not see meadows like this elsewhere. indiahikes.com/gidara-bugyal/

    we were 4 guys, only trekked kheerganga and had a hard time doing it and just looked on google about rupin pass trek, in dandhrash tatch we were stuck for many days , awesome experience but it can be really tricky and dangerous, all wooden bridges were broken, had to pass the river by making human chains, it was raining since 7 days non stop, OMG this trek really made me a man. hahaha, be careful if you want to go there and work on ur endurance otherwise don't go.

    Hey Swathi we have planned to go rupin pass trek in 7th October. I'm a begginer.due to shortage of time I haven't done any fitness training.should I go?or now what shoud i do to get fit.

    • @Indiahikes
      @Indiahikes  Před 2 lety

      If you have not done any fitness training, I would suggest postponing the trek. I personally worked on my endurance for two whole months to do this trek. It's important to put that much time into it.
      On another note, you'll probably do treks like Rupin Pass once or twice in your life. When that's the case, you must be at your fittest best.
      My advice is to postpone it to a later date and then do it.

    Hi Swati i am a bit over weight now days but i started preparing for this trek and i am running 5km in 50 min for now but i am sure I will take it to 5km in 30 min till June 15 so could I do it?

    • @Indiahikes
      @Indiahikes  Před rokem

      It's not very easy to bring 50 minutes down to 30 minutes and do it consistently. I would suggest continuing running for another two weeks and then re assessing yourself. if you've been able to bring it to 38-40 minutes, continue doing so and bring it further down over the next two weeks. but if you're unable to do that, it's better to postpone your trek to autumn. right now the trek has a lot of snow and is a little more challenging than usual

    • @Indiahikes
      @Indiahikes  Před 2 lety +1

      There could be a few snow patches because you are climbing to permafrost areas on this trek, where the snow never melts. But October is not a very snowy month. If you want to trek in a lot of snow, you should go in May / June.
