    Styling looks so much better. My only complaint is that the new Trax sits so much lower. Consumers like the higher seating positions for visibility and the new Trax looks like it sits as low as a Malibu.
    I also don’t understand what GM is doing with the Trax & TrailBlazer. They are so close in size that they compete against themselves. I also would like to see AWD as an option on the new Trax.
    As always love your videos Dave! Keep them coming!

      The new Trax is for people who would normally buy a sedan. If you want to sit higher and want AWD, buy the Trailblazer. As for why carmakers are making many many crossovers/suvs, it's because Americans will throw their money at any car shaped like an crossover/suv. Easy profit. Many Americans including myself prefer to sit lower and prefer the simplicity of FWD.

    A cuple of comments to this video. You have to take the head rest piece before folding the back seat (you dont need to move the front seat). The 2020 and before models had AWD option, and for some time now the new Trax doesnt have that configuration, they only come with 2WD and smaller engine, so you have a bigger car with just front power and a smaller engine, so its a good city car solution but it does not meet the requirements for an SUV.

    This and the new Encore GX have a lot of Bolt EUV in them as far as styling. The design language is very similar and that's a good thing! The Trax previously never would have been on my consideration list, but if we needed a small gas crossover, it could be now. Well done! Roger you're right and I'll explain why. Pre-pandemic, so back in 2019-2020, Chevy was offering huge manufacturer cash rebates and dealer discounts on 2020 Chevy Trax models. So the MSRP would be 25k but you would only pay 15k. This 2024 Trax has a MSRP that's $400 less but zero cash rebates and zero dealer discounts. So you end up paying a lot more for this 2024 Trax.

The rear seat fold down procedure in the old one is, as you say, a nightmare. So now I will pay down the 21 and decide on a new Trax or AWD Trailblazer. The new 2024 Trax is certainly much better than the older Trax but it's not cheaper in terms of the real out the door price the customer pays. As I'm sure you're well aware Dave, back in 2020 and earlier years, the Trax had huge manufacturer cash rebates and dealer discounts. So while the MSRP was 25k, in reality the customer only paid 16-18k. This new 2024 Trax has a MSRP that's 400 bucks less than the old Trax but it also has zero cash rebates and zero dealer discounts. So you end up paying much more for the new Trax than the old Trax.

      Sources close to the matter tell GM Authority that 2024 Chevy Trax units will be allocated to dealerships using the following three factors:
      40 percent based on Chevy Cruze units sold during its final three years
      40 percent based on previous-gen Chevy Trax units sold over two years
      20 percent based on competitor performance in a dealership’s local market (if the market sees a lot of sales of competing models)

    I specifically bought my 2021 Trax because it was the smallest AWD vehicle that Chevy made. Not only is the new Trax bigger than the old Trax, but it's even bigger than the Trailblazer. And no AWD available on the new Trax! That's a deal-breaker for me as I live in an area that gets snow every Winter...and I live in the countryside on a dirt road which becomes mud when it rains and snows. The new Trax has less ground clearance, one less cylinder, and less horsepower. It's going in the wrong direction for me.

      @ericknoblauch9195 Před rokem

      Chevy did the same with the engine on the Equinox. They discontinued the 2.0 turbo, and kept the 1.5 turbo. AWD adds additional weight to the vehicle, and a bigger engine would help. I rented a Equinox without AWD, and it had the 1.5 engine. The 1.5 moved it rather well, and it kept getting 26 MPG city and highway combined. I really enjoyed the Equinox while I had it. The Equinox also had a roomy interior. My 2017 Cruze hatchback gets 32 combined city highway. What gas mileage does the new TRAX get?

    You guys keep increasing the size of the compact suvs but not everyone wants a huge vehicle they are just looking for the height. Also the lease prices are out of control. I leased my 2020 with zero down except registration fees and paid $209/mo now they want over $300 a month. I know I negotiated a sick deal to begin with but after covid the prices have skyrocketed. Also the equinox lease deals are cheaper than the new trax deals.

    *KL* VIN, so they're assembled in Korea. South Korea is a strong military ally, so I suppose that's better than China at this point (like some Buicks currently sold in North America).
    I dunno, I've always tried to purchase vehicles that were assembled in the United States because that means there's at a minimum a factory job for an American with a livable wage (for me personally it doesn't have to be with UAW labor, but it's a plus when it is), but I also get that this is how we're going to see affordable vehicles stick around.
    They're pushing this new design language hard in the crossovers. All those glossy screens make me want to cover them in the stick-on antiglare coatings, lol.
    But all that aside, thanks Dan B for giving us a good "real world" side-by-side of the two. It's one thing to stare at those brochures, it another to see two actual vehicles that are one generation apart next to each other, and insight from a Chevrolet salesman that's been selling the old model since it was new.

      Christopher, good point. I'm not sure if that 1.2 liter turbocharged 3 cylinder engine will last 10 years or the fancy tech screens inside. Definitely buy the official GM backed extended warranty (finance manager will try to persuade you to buy a third party extended warranty but say NO). If you're buying a 2023 Corolla, no need for extended warranty but this 2024 Trax is a different animal.
