Big clubs playing each other brings in money and makes people wanna watch. I think football is just in a giant transition period that has been going for a while and the injuries also means big players miss a lot of games and it’s getting way too mathematical, teams just don’t play free football, every player does the same every game, they follow the same formula because they prepare for every single situation and position they might find themselves in and don’t just play with instinct

The other thing you have to admit about the premier league is that the quality of the mid and lower teams is SO much higher compared than it was in the early 2010s. Part of the story with Chelsea being 11th is that Newcastle, wolves, Brighton, West Ham and Villa are teams that can genuinely compete with them, and that makes the league better than it’s ever been in a way

Well the top top players now are skillful. Vini has pace but is skillfull, Mbappé has skills for days, Haaland can contort his body in ungodly ways, and Jude is just skill personified, mans revived the 10 position. I can kinda see it in the slightly lower levels not the top top elite level players but not everyone was skillfull as well before.

Real Madrid maintained their level, even improved it, post-covid. They'll continue doing this regardless of what other clubs do. It's childish to say they shouldn't sign the best players, because the best players want to play for the best club.

It’s because teams like City and PSG cheat for their success. The big teams either burn out like Barca or just can’t sustain that type of success. Smaller teams certainly don’t have a chance anymore. Long gone are the days of Ajax making a long UCL run, Portuguese teams doing well, and Everton beating City 4-0. Those are all recent results too, a bit sad

I think club football can get kind of monotonous because the season is so long, but when the Euros come along or the world cup it kind of makes everything new again. Championship matches too are great, I remember watching Bayern Madrid in the final a few years back and it was so good!!!! I think though in the regular season players can get burnt out, especially if the world cup is in qatar in the winter. It puts an incredible strain on those players bodies im sure. Football is fun, but you gotta put everything in perspective!
What big teams are going through is making things better cause now more lower teams can finally compete and there are variety of teams now qualifying for europe and new stars being found in different teams coming up and realistically they are not going to stay this bad forever
I don’t think that you’re wrong, but that’s okay tbh. We need times like these so when we get to the good stuff, we appreciate the sport even more. Personally, I tuned in to a lot these uninteresting games just to see what each team looks like now, their lineups and maybe I’d be caught by surprise. I think that’s what I love the most about the sport…being caught my surprise because YOU NEVER KNOW what comes next.

It's not about teams getting weaker or lack of competition,it's just players aren't trusting their own desicion making, in other words they're being controlled!,for example in Spain kids around 5-10 that plays in football academy are told exactly what to do the moment they receive the ball as if they don't trust them.back then we loved the beautiful game because players such as Ronaldo Messi Neymar Suarez bale hazard iniesta xavi robben were completely free to do whatever THEY want on the pitch because they were a whole team themselves! I think the problem is a lot of it is very money driven nowadays. The Saudi League bought out half of the biggest stars of the last 5 years, but also a lot of those big stars are aged now. We’re in a period where players we grew up watching throughout the late 90s and majority of 2000s-2010s are retiring or already retired, and youngsters are starting to make names for themselves. We’re still trying to hold onto the nostalgia of watching Messi, Ronaldo and their teams going to straight WAR in El Classico, Man United being the most dominant Team in Europe alongside Barca and Real, and the big 6 dominating England every year. But now it’s time to support and watch this new generation of players grow and learn. New teams are starting to step up and become better than the Giants of the 90s-2010s and that’s not exactly a bad thing. It creates new rivalries and unexpected outcomes. You could say the same thing is happening with the NBA.

you have to hear him on the champions league part, champions league ain't been the same since Madrid v Liverpool finals (2022) and last years champions league from beginning to end was just bad, there hasn't been moments constantly looking at your screen watching the game like back then but not gonna lie the second legs of the R16 UCL was amazing, but leagues have been good La Liga is looking better than the beginning of the season Barca fighting for title and Girona who just came back to la Liga are doing amazing (who are second in the league btw) and you'll definitely see them in the UCL next season and premier league been amazing this season the three teams who are fighting for the title have had some good matches to watch except Sheffield but every game they've played has been a good watch.

I think xabi Alonso is doing that this season. He has a style of football that incorporates possession and counter attacking in all facets of his tactics.
What I love most is that he didn’t give his players instructions however instead instills intuition into them to make the best Decisions in the given situation. Leverkusen are unbeaten because of it!
