    The last move that is a duck into a drop, this looks like it is preceded by two INside turns because she is turning toward her partner. I'm only a beginner, so if this could be explained at that level, I would greatly appreciate it! Great video! Thanks so much!

    • @WestCoastSwingOnline
      @WestCoastSwingOnline  Před 4 lety +2

      Hi Ed, I hope you're well! The video was a live video where people were able to ask questions so we kind of went with the level the group is at. Dips and Tricks are not really beginner level moves. There are a lot of things you've got to be good at to do them safely. That being said dips and tricks are fun so they are worth learning! If the turns are a struggle this is a good place to start. www.westcoastswingonline.com/3-turns-master-west-coast-swing/ If the actual duck is a struggle, ms megan discusses ducks on the 2nd video on this page: www.westcoastswingonline.com/move-week-39/
      WCS can be pretty complex so mastering several different skills together will produce super cool moves like are in this video. As you're sorting through them on your own, our website has a great search function that will let you sort out which part of these skills you should be mastering at your particular level of dance (beg-int-adv) I hope that helps. Let me know if that didn't cover it. -B

    Is it possible that the leader do a surprise behind-the-back 3-step spin RLR in place (full spin to the R in place), in steps 6-8 of the classic Sugar Push (as the follower does the traditional "anchor step") as a great WCS "trick?"

    • @WestCoastSwingOnline
      @WestCoastSwingOnline  Před rokem

      Hey Charles, The sugar push only has 6 beats so you could spin on the 5&6. Totally doable! It's often an option depending on which pattern you're using it in and intending next. I hope that answers the question! -B

    Can you give us the counts and the footwork once we get out of that basic dip pattern? We seem to be stuck on the 4 and when finish, we're on the wrong foot. We figured something on our own making it 8 counts but we wanted to know what you do.

    • @WestCoastSwingOnline
      @WestCoastSwingOnline  Před rokem +1

      Im not sure which dip, there were a few in the video. If you are talking about a regular dip, the follower should come up on the left leg so that the right leg is free to start a new pattern which could be any pattern from a closed position. The leader should come out of the dip on the right leg. So I would do an inside turn to get into in so 1,2,3&4 dip 5,6 up 7,8. New pattern after that.

    Nothing against you guys but if I witnessed a guy doing a rag-doll swing with my wife, we would have a problem. I have never seen anything inappropriate at our local WCS parties but I find the rag-doll to be very inappropriate. That aside, thank you for your content. You have taught me so much!

    You didn’t used to do that. And now it’s become a habit. It is very annoying and distracting.

      I'm so sorry Linda. I've been snapping my fingers while I dance for 25 years. It's pretty unconscious and I was unaware it was present on many of our videos. 😞 I'm super sorry it bothers you. Unfortunately I cannot remove the snaps from this video. We shot this live in long form during the 8 weeks of lockdown from the caronavirus. We were trying our best to give dancers something to do and look forward to while we were all stuck at home. I hope the video can still provide some value to dancers (minus the snaps) Best wishes on the dance floor in 2022! -Brian

      @@WestCoastSwingOnline We have watched and learned from your videos for many years. I am very appreciative of the effort you put forth to promote dance of all types. You do an excellent job of breaking down each move & pattern, making it easy for the viewer to understand and execute. Thank you for that, sincerely.
      I hated to write that comment. I had finally had enough of the snapping. I watch most of your videos with the sound off to avoid it. Maybe you are unaware how much more the snapping is occurring. When we first found you on CZcams, I hardly noticed the snapping; now it seems constant. I really wasn’t trying to be cruel or mean. I just wanted to point out that it’s annoying to me; maybe, maybe it’s not just me it bothers. It was meant to be constructive; not cruel.
      Thank you for answering my comment.

      @@Sonjaerin71 No worries Linda. Could you please share a video where I'm snapping. I'm completely unaware and in this video I watched the first 20 min of this video and couldn't find one.

      @@WestCoastSwingOnline I don’t know how to upload a CZcams video back to CZcams. I’m sorry. The following video is one that I got by email. This was the captioning of the link. It had something to do with a dance with Maxim & Victoria. Granted, there’s not a lot of snapping in this one. The one that I was sending you the original message about is where you’re teaching a West Coast swing line dance. That’s where I could hear the snapping even through the music when you were doing the demo. That’s the one I threw my hands up and said OMG! I can’t stand all this snapping. This really is getting kind of nit-picky on my part. Please, just forget about it. Do what you do. You’re excellent at what you do. But it would be nice if he would just be a little more conscious of how much snapping you do. Honestly, maybe I just have to good of hearing. Maybe most people don’t pay attention. But I do have excellent hearing. Sometimes it can be a curse.
      It’s your earlier videos that I have saved because we are actually more of an intermediate/advanced dancers. Anything extremely advanced, I don’t save. And I have only started noticing how much it has been occurring over the past year. But like I said before, just let this go. I appreciate your trying to hear and understand what you were doing. You can’t correct something if you can’t hear it or see it for yourself. I do understand that; I really do. Please, Brian, I’m only a small voice. If most of your fans are happy, who am I to disagree.
