    Thanks for making the “rock-and-go” so clear! I have seen it referred to several times before, but could never figure out exactly what it was. This step-by-step breakdown was very helpful. Thanks!

      That's awesome to hear. We have a video to release just on the Rock & Go. It will be out at some point but we're focusing on the live videos for now while we're in lockdown. Happy learning! -Brian

    This guy (and the lady) are SO, SO good at explaining / demonstrating this dance style. Nice and fluid explanations, with the added occasional bits of banter.
    Love watching, just for the entertainment value. As another comment states on here it would be good if any question that is asked gets repeated and we can pick up more of the question (that is my only point to make but hopefully that is a constructive bit of feedback).

    I love the content and teaching style. Would be great if you could repeat the question it would be really helpful.

      Yes! I'm sorry. We try to do that but apparently I got rolling and forgot to repeat some of them. We've done a lot of videos but a relatively few of the live ones. We're still getting our groove. I'll get it right moving forward! Thanks for the reminder :-) Best wishes, Brian

    A lot of this reminds me of LA (linear salsa.). I been doing LA salsa for 3 years with Batchata. I started doing rock and roll.

      @WestCoastSwingOnline  Před 4 lety +1

      Yes if you've never done much WCS before... they yeah it's very similar to Salsa in the fact that it's a slotted dance with lots of variations and musical interpretation. Of course it's totally different in it's rhythm structure but it does share a lot of similarities! Keep up the dancing! Best wishes, Brian

    ..it would be great if you would repeat the question (the one around minute 19 for example). However - thank you for your great work! (I'm watching from Switzerland, therefore not live...) 😊

      Sorry a forgot a couple. The question was could I ronde on the 7. You can also get a sense of the discussions via text in the live video in the text box to the right of the video on this page. Hope that helps. I'll do better at repeating the questions :-)

    I notice that Megan appears to lead her step primarily on the ball of the foot first instead of a heal/ball. I’ve heard many people say that WCS should be a walking heal lead, but I like the toe lead. What do you all think?

    • @WestCoastSwingOnline
      @WestCoastSwingOnline  Před 4 lety

      GREAT QUESTION! Either is acceptable. Interestingly we teach a heel lead to most of our students because we feel it's the easiest, most natural, effective way for most dancers. However either is correct. You will see dancers with a long dance background or in Megans case training in other dance styles as well, who will default to a ball lead on their forward walks. I think it comes from the fact that other dance styles REQUIRE that style of foor articulation. Fortunately WCS is more forgiving and either is correct so long as you are progressing the weight incrementially through your feet to maintain connection. Hope that helps and thanks for the great question! -Brian

      I was always taught that ideal WCS was roll from toe down, ball, heel. Looks prettier.

    So, WE must count on 10 for this pattern ?

    • @WestCoastSwingOnline
      @WestCoastSwingOnline  Před rokem +1

      Hello, yes the pattern its self is 10 counts.
      When you are dancing to music, if you count with straight 8’s then the anchor step of this pattern would start over at 1&2.
      Here is a video about counting straight 8’s.
