It’s best to steam tempeh for 15 minutes before you marinate it. Steaming takes the bitterness out.

I know this is off-topic, but I wish people were more honest about stuff like that, so I'm just gonna say it: You are such a down-to-earth person and even though I really enjoy your recipes and vlogs and stuff and I always recreate your ideas, the main reason why I'm here, is your personality. You seem like the most humble humanbeing and I wanna tell you how much impact you have on me. I have a non-existent mental health and whenever I see your face and you talk about grains or tempeh or mountainbiking or whatever, the world seems to be so f*cking beautiful and I forget all the negative stuff.
I deeply appreciate you for that and I hope that you continue to shine for whoever deserves it.
    Thank you.

The other key to these Buddha bowls is to layer the sauce - I like put some sauce over the quinoa then stack the veggies, then more sauce. This way you don't use up all the sauce on those top veggies, and it makes it all taste so good!

Tahini is super easy to make yourself. Just toast a bunch of sesame seeds in a skillet (carefully), then grind them up in the blender. Can add some sesame oil to get the right consistency. Add some salt and lemon juice and that's it. To me it tastes kinda like peanut butter, but less peanutty. I usually buy a pound of sesame seeds at a time and make it all at once. It'll keep in the fridge for a pretty long time, and keeping it plain like that means it can be used for hummus and all kinds of other things.

My son, who is now 27, was virtually weaned on houmous and was a very fussy but healthy eater, and for years Waitrose, Sainsburys or Tesco was his staple. In the early days I tried to make my own houmous but bitter tahini was a major issue. I think the thing I've discovered is that the bitterness is often associated with rancidity. Sesame seeds don't age well, so a source with a high turn over of product can be as important as the make. As tahini has become more popular I've found it easier to get tahini with those smooth nutty tones and now there is a whoe range and variety of delicious tahinis.

My fave simple thing for strong greens is to chop them a bit in advance and then throw them in a reheating soup or similar. Not raw, not cooked too much.

3:49 Tempeh is actually not bad plain as long as you heat it (pan, oven, maybe toaster). Some people compare the flavor to mushroom but for me it's more nut-like. I've only had packaged but want to try fresh.

I love your attitude, you make cooking or creating a buddha bowl fun. I have 3 different eaters in my household: vegetarian, pescatarian and meat eaters. Im trying to come up w/healthy dinner ideas we could all enjoy w/o having to make 3 dif meals. U read my mind on the tahini sauce. I bought some which was horrible and thought will never eat it again but after watching your video I will keep taste testing other brands. I love Bragg's and use it all the time. Never tried cooking w/tempeh, daughter (vegetarian) might like it, will give it a go. Im definitely subscribing to your channel, can't wait to see what other treasures u can whip up. Glad I found ya.😊

I just made my first Bowl. I have had serious problems losing weight even though I've been eating whole plant-based Foods. I find that I tend to eat several cups of whole wheat pasta at a meal. At least doing one Buddha bowl would be a nice switch up because we're so many more vegetables then intense carbs. I should give you a report in a couple of weeks. But thanks for showing us how it's done.

I made this today, I have always wanted to make one of your sauces from when I first found your oil free cooking video and binged a few things. This year I'm finally transitioning from mostly vegetarian/plant based to vegan and I blended up this little beauty and it's sooooooo good, the whole bowl is amazing. I recreated it one for one except the tempeh (first tempeh purchase and it was moldy) I did cranberry chipolte chickpeas instead! Thank you for all of the hard work you put into these videos, they have really inspired me and my family to eat better.

Hi, love your recipes. Just a note of caution with your thrift store bowls - Royal Doulton and other vintage wares can contain lead. Also, make sure the bowls you are purchasing are for eating purposes and not decorative as they can contain high levels of lead from the paint used. You should be able to Google the manufacturer to find out whether or not the bowls are safe to eat off of. Be healthy and stay safe.
