That Time There Was a Train Just for Skiers
The Rio Grande Railroad began operation of a ski train to Winter Park resort in Winter Park Colorado way back in 1940. The train was just for skiers but that didn't mean that it was a failure, in fact it was quite the opposite. The train was successful enough to operate for almost 60 years in some form and while it did stop operating in 2009 the demand never went away. Amtrak eventually restarted the operation in 2017 with it still being a success today.
