They had no script , war kai Wong just had a notion or a idea about the mood of the story and it's characters, this movie was going to have three stories but it was talking a lot of time and resources because so they went with just one amd it took 15 monthes to shoot and they ultimately had too much footage , so we have this movie and then there's another version , a short movie , in the mood for Love :2001 and what we today is 2046 , most of the part of it
It is actually a trilogy starting with Days of being wild, followed by In the mood for love, with 2046 coming last. And what a thrilling way he has, Wong Kar Wai, to illuminate love! Quite imposing.
This is what it feels like to fall in love with someone. That feeling of love you may never again experience or yet to experience. This is what I get from the soundtrack. Wong Kar Wai is simply..... wow

This movie makes an argument why its better to have loved and lost. By that I mean, its better to actually be with the person you love and experience the full happiness it can bring. These two people never got that chance, and so we see that through the rest of the years they end up missing each other. In the sequel we see how Chow could not really form any new relationships
This may well become one of the most memorable theme songs of any movie - It's definitely in the same class as The Godfather theme. In short, it's perfect. Perhaps better than perfect. Knocks me out every time I hear it.

One of my favorite film themes of all time. Mood-wise, it reminds me a lot of Schubert's Piano Trio in E-Flat that was featured so memorably in Barry Lyndon.

My aunt introduced to me this movie back when it released in select theaters. I wasn't even out of high school yet but, it always stuck with me. She can kick rocks now for personal reasons but, I at least came back to this film years later and appreciated it even more. It's arguably perfection. 🤍
In the recent years cinema and music feel more like agendas than art... No real feeling, no artistry and passion for creation, no actual important messages or truths... I will always go back to this glorious masterpiece to FEEL and EXPERIENCE something real...
