- This DEATH BATTLE was one of the most requested since the inception of the show. Several of the last few episodes were lackluster...can this one help to redeem the show? Here's my reaction, recorded upon my first viewing of the episode.

Tony vs Lex wasn't lackluster
Both the analysis and the fight were crap regardless of the spritework though.
The joke wasn't funny and the research on both sides (especially for Ragna's side) was total bunk. I'll leave that there and agree to disagree though.
Love how he was mostly quite during the Solid Snake backstory and went with it but then was like "Who cares!?" to Sam's. No double standards here folks.

List time!
1. If it was "Metal Gear-ception" that would mean a Metal Gear inside a Metal Gear, not fighting a Metal Gear designed to killed other Metal Gears with a hijacked Metal Gear.
2. We all know Snake is a clone.
3. "Who cares?" Ya know, some people like hearing backstory on characters and while it might not heavily effect the upcoming battle, a bit of history can help the viewer understand a character and inform the audience how long they have been around. As for the banter moment about the chuuro? That is just the guys having fun with their characters for a but of quick comedy and a way to set them apart from other people that might try videos saying who would beat who in a fight. Better to interweave a bit of comedy between listing off stats, gear, and accomplishments.
4. 9:40 - ya that is kinda odd, but it's probably just the designers not being able to find a version they like or something. :/
5. Yes. Suspension of disbelief. It's a gameplay thing. We the player can see them so it's a bit easier to see Sam while we play the game and move him through dark areas. Plus they are kind of iconic to the franchise like that.
6. The Boomstick character has a thing for...well...boomsticks. Nothing new, and even did a countdown of his favorite guns in games.
7. Not all Death Battles can be CG. -.- Most are still going to be sprites.
8. Nothing wrong with fun easter eggs and promotions. It would be boring and semi-grating on the CG Animator if they couldn't have a little fun with the things they put in the video. I also wonder if I'm the only one who noticed that the dead bodies near Sam at the beginning are Call of Duty characters. the Ghost team I think.
9. When things are more highly requested/bigger match-ups/etc. they will generally have more in it. Not many people thought of Beast VS Goliath, but matches like Link VS Cloud, Superman VS Goku, Godzilla VS Gamera, and Deadpool VS Deathstroke are very big battles that have been debated for over a decade.
10. Surprised you didn't notice that Sam cut the Konami logo onto Snake's chest in the Knife Fight.
11. Nothing wrong with giving only 1 combatant here and saving the other one for later. It builds anticipation and gives people an incentive to follow their social media pages. And if you don't want to follow said pages, you can either wait till Vader's promo video comes out in a couple of days, or just flat out wait until the final video is done. They aren't "hiding behind likes" or holding anyone hostage.

You do realize you're watching a video about two humans who supposedly can take down entire governments by themselves, right? You also realize it's a video game, hence why we can see the lights? It also explains why the enemies aren't able to see the giant human controlling Sam from behind a glass screen with an Xbox controller because it's a video game.

if I ever chose a voice actor for Snake I would have chosen Steve Blum.
Guys, he said "SEVERAL" not "ALL" of the past few episodes.
Ben & Chad gotta advertise to make money to make more Death Battles. I mean they got the voice of picolo, vegeta (DBZ), and zoro ( One Piece) to voice Snake in this episode. That gotta require alot of bank.
Wait a minute! I recognize the 'hip-hop' music playing! They're 'Gotta Get the Cash' and 'Laughin' at U' from the Anarchy Reigns soundtrack. I have no idea what Platinum Games music is doing in a stealth-based battle of all places, even taking Revengeance into account. I also figured Snake would win, but I did like how they subverted the 'first blow that draws blood determines the winner' thing that I noticed in a lot of Death Battles.

Yeah, for that little moment before the fight in the dark, that was a reference to Ocelot, it was a favorite line of his, and considering the situation, it was warranted.
So you think Ironman vs. Lex Luthor is lackluster huh?
This is one of the best 3D death battles in my eyes.

Next to the Iron Man vs Lex Luthor Death Battle, this was another that had me scared for a minute during the fight.
Just some constructive criticism: a lot of the humor seemed very awkward and forced. try to work on that

Yeah, he sounded like that one guy who thinks being a critical sarcastic cynic makes you sound cool and smart, but really it just makes you sound desperate. It was irritating.

A really nuts part of me wants to say Darth Vader vs. Ash Crimson on account of the whole "Good All Along" trope, but who knows. If it's vs. Doctor Doom like what people are predicting, I'd say that Doom has the advantage because for all intents and purposes, Vader's suit doesn't have too, too many fancy features that I know of. ...Of course, I'm going purely off of MvC, so my sources probably aren't accurate.

When you say the past few DEATH BATTLES have been lackluster which ones do you mean?
I was disappointed with the outcome but I can understand the reasoning and the battle was pretty good, as for the next battle reveal I can't help but wonder why they won't just tell us who both the fighters are.

Desert Zorro I can live with it, I tend to forget about it a few days after, then im like oh yeah and if im lucky i forget about it for a few months .
I only had one main issue with this fight. It was flawed in several aspects. I'm not arguing the results, but there were MANY things that screamed "No" or "Bulls**t" (Coming from a fan of both games)
1. The Octocamo, It allows you to blend in with any environment that snake is near. It does NOT turn snake invisible (Especially the head, unless he has face camo) Anyone with an observant eye or who's close enough can notice him, even with the camo active.
2. The use of Sam's equipment. They only used 1/3 of what was mentioned. Sam is able to use different items with the launcher (Which only the Sticky Camera was used) and he can also put an under barrel shotgun and sniper on the rifle as well (Which can be swapped on the fly)
3, Snakes equipment use. They used MORE of Snakes general equipment, then they did Sam (Which explained above)
4. The EMP Sam used. Even considering it would knock out Snakes Octocamo and stun knife, it's only temporary. So there's no reason Snake wouldn't be able to use the Octocamo again.
Like I said, I'm not arguing the results (Cause I do agree with the victor) but I felt this fight was flawed in many aspects (As a fan of both games)

Which was NEVER brought up once when talking about Snakes equipment. Plus Snake has only ever used that item once (Since it's an item you only get depending on the circumstances of completing the game, rather then an actual item you gain within the story)
So I doubt a bonus/ NG+ item would be used for a battle like this.
***** It's also a popularity contest. Snake is just more iconic and a legend and more skilled. He deserved to win.

The battle was fun to watch and yes I agree with the winner, but there were areas that went AGAINST what was told to us and what's known in both games.

Yeah the sound of the Death battle still feels a lot quieter compared to the audio of your commentary... I feel like this would be better if the volumes were closer together so we could hear the DB easily without having to worry about your commentary rupturing an eardrum.
How come you didn't just edit out the part where the ad showed up? :p If your editing software can put text and video overlay on the video then surely it has something as basic as cutting and removing parts of the clip!

That Death Battle was really good and just shows how awesome Snake is. Need to get that 3DS port of Metal Gear Solid 3 Snake Eater. I know technically that's Big Boss but close enough. Too bad that game doesn't actually have any Metal Gears though. I would of love to fight some war machines in it.
Jay M There is in fact a war machine in MGS3. Not a Metal Gear per se, but that's only because it's a prequel.

You might want to adjust your mic for next time. You're way louder than the Death Battle and it takes me out of the immersion when you talk.

That much said, what gives you the right to attack me for just stating a problem I personally had with the reaction? I didn't insult or belittle Adam, nor did I say that he shouldn't be doing reactions like this. All I said was that the audio between his comments and the actual video were as unbalanced as your temper. I came in peace.
So. What's the issue here?
I have a point now. An imbalance in the audio is still an imbalance in the damn audio one way or the other. Also, the point of a reaction video is to react with the uploader or enjoy the commentary in tandem with with the old video. Hard to do the latter when someone completely blocks out a line delivery or joke you were gearing up for if they yell "NOBODY CARES" after already being much louder than the character breakdown. Being louder than the actual video to be heard is one thing, being so loud that I can't hear ANYTHING from the other vid whenever the commenter talks is quite another.

Wow... This was painful to watch and I normally don't see you react to that, well I wanna say react if I didn't see it forced jokes and a fakish tone of voice and stutter for you to say a joke I can clearly tell is forced. Hey I really don't like to hayter on you but I'm just saying the truth. I think when you're nitpicking the animation was kinda a low blow, yah it did have flaws but some things (like right at the beginning) where you stated should be saved for 1 minute melee.
