- We look at the interior and exterior of the new 2023 Honda HR-V in the studio. We discuss price, features and design before we take it for a drive in the future. This next-gen model grows and size and becomes the Civic CUV in many ways. Which would you choose, Toyota Corolla Cross, Mazda CX-30 or Kia Sportage?

"It has an exhaust pipe in the back, so it looks like you're sporty."
To give Honda credit, it's not a bad looking tip. I've seen so many worse cheapend tips
Although it is Sarcasm, it is also refreshingly honest compared with everyone else trying to hide their rear hole because they all try to be a Tesla...
@@lmc333 they're not hiding them to look like teslas, they're hiding them because they think the listed price shouldn't include a half decent rear end.
Plus they can sell ugly exhaust trims, like what audi did with their s7 lmao
Atlease it has a proper exhaust pipe.
Many modern cars has fakes one...
Better than any German shit fake exhaust Audi, Benz or BMW. Exhaust is becoming a rarity for some reason
I'll miss the Fit. One of Honda's quiet little successes. The second gen was a terrific car all around, CVT notwithstanding.
With any luck, with how shitty gas is right now maybe it’ll come back
May I suggest you to have a look at City Hatchback, it is the successor of Jazz in the SEA region.
It is an efficient transmission though
@@redjeik maybe Volkswagen will come back with the proper software 😅
Get one with a manual
When he said "Sporty" ...I felt that.
My belly also jiggled
I'm really digging the interior. It looks like the 11th gen Civic interior minus all the piano gloss plastic.
I can't believe they got rid of the magic seats in the back. That was such a standout feature. Sad to see it gone. Exterior looks great imo though.
Same. We bought a 2020 and the magic seats were one of the main selling points, it makes the vehicle so much more versatile than its exterior size would have you believe.
If you don't get it in NPC color.
Its no longer a Fit, so packaging is different. I asked same thing.
@@Dowlphin lol
The exemplary packaging of the Fit made those seats possible. This is related to the Civic, which doesn't have such a low, flat floor in back for the seat to fold into. At least they made the seat bottom drop down a bit as the seat folds. Only a few cars have ever done that, and it's a super feature that lets the seatbacks fold down a lot flatter. That makes for a much more usable cargo area.
I like everything about this CUV minus the front grille. That part of it reminds me of the Ford Escape and that's not a compliment.
Or a sucker fish. Yuck.
I thought it was just me. Escape was first thing I saw, though it's grille is a little bit wider. It really could use some sharpening up of the front-end lines. It and the Escape are basically blobs up front.
I actually like they kept K20 NA. It may be "slower" than L15T but it is FAR more reliable and has that familiar Honda feel. You're not going to be winning any races in either K20 or L15; but you will win in longevity and low maintenance with the K20. All this fully loaded with AWD at $30K - hands down can't be beat.
I’d cross shop the Corolla cross as well; unless you’re a taller fellow.
lol you are delusional, MSRP is irrelevant
More importantly it puts more K20s into the world which is its own reward.
As a Honda owner, we've had experience with the K24, J35, R18, and lately the L15 as well. Our Civic with the L15 went to 121K with no powertrain issues apart from infotainment, and A/C with the regular maintenance. Of course, our experiences are anecdotal, but honestly there's no need to worry.
@@protoian9353 these are different from the k20s everyone swaps into shit.
This actually looks phenomenal to me in terms of the overall package. Very affordable compared to a lot of options today. Look forward to the full review.
Phenomenal? Really?
@@oi32df I was just saying it looks great as an overall package, hahaha.
@@opmike343 For the class and purpose of vehicle as an overall package, yeah I think so. Sure it's a bit of a superlative, but it's what came to mind. I like the design, the simplicity, and especially the price compared to the market.
$1245 Destination charge
They're pulling a Ford by hiding price increases in the destination charge
Ford charges $1500 Destination for the Maverick and laughing at everyone calling it $22k
Diesel it's about $5 a gallon. Of course destination charges are going to go up.
But shipping a car by ship from Asia or Europe only cost $995. I agree Ford is hiding price increases in the shipping fee.
@@edman79 the fuel prices increases are eating into the multi million bonus checks from top executives. Gotta increase destination charges!
@@edman79 Ford was increasing destination charges over $1k way before fuel got expensive.
"non-negotiable destination fees are being used to pad out profit margins. Automotive News note that in many cases, increases to destination charges have outpaced the rate of inflation, suggesting a disconnection from the real cost of delivering vehicles to the customer."
Looks vastly improved over my 2020 Sport trim, especially the interior which is very Civic like with dash layout and controls. Good job Honda.
This looks much better than the previous version. Much better.
RIP small cars. This is nearly 10" longer with identical cargo capacity compared to the previous generation. Removed the magic seats as well. $1800 increase in MSRP. I was really hoping we'd see some higher trims as well with the 1.5T engine for more power. A base AWD HR-V is nearly $3000 more expensive than a CX-30 which has AWD standard.
Of course things are more expensive. You can thank Millenials who want to be paid “a living wage.” Then you guys complain when a burger or a car or an iPhone cost more 10 years later. Makes no sense: don’t buy one.
I don’t think Honda even created the hrv for ridiculous cargo room. This is a compact SUV. Crv is what you’d want to look at if you concerned about cargo room. And Realistically this 2.0 will last so much longer than a 1.5t due to having no boost, the immense cylinder pressures and with gdi is a recipe for a short life cycle, but I do have to agree with you about the increase in price. Honda and literally any car dealers are marking up their cars a large amount here in Southern California, so this thing will be forsure be a good 2.5k+ pricier than previous generation.
@@2004cyrus ah be quiet boomer, go yell at the clouds somewhere else
@@2004cyrus oh yeah, cars only cost around $2000 from the sixties all the way until the 2010s but the second millennials entered the workforce the price of cars went to 30k+. Shut the hell up
In Europe the new HR-V isn't even in the competition for cargo space anymore.
This will hold at least 17 or 18 lizards, which is real real nice.
🤨
I actually really like the vehicle with the exception of the fuel economy. Pretty sure the CR-V gets similar or better MPG…
My wife has a 19 HR-V. Vehicle has never seen north of the mid 28's in terms of MPG. Even on the highway, unless you drive the literal speed limit on a flat surface lol
I’m sure a hybrid is coming
@@JF-ns5zs probably. It's interesting they didn't even offer it in the 1.4 turbo..just the 2.0 NA
@@kevinc2332 Other parts of the world got it with the 1.5T, a hybrid option, and a bigger moonroof. Idk about Bose, but that wouldn’t surprise me either. I believe it’s called the ZR-V.
@@TheAntinowherelane same I have a 22 Tucson awd that gets the same/slightly better mpg than my wife’s HR-V awd.
Enjoying your jazzy music. It adds class to your videos.
Mark, I watch this channel for you and Jack. Just keep that in mind, you rock.
If I squint just right (or wrong) , it looks like a mini Porsche Cayenne...
Closer to a Macan, but yeah, there is some Porsche, especially in the shape of the greenhouse and rear end.
Just looking at the design I quite like it over the previous generation. The last model was quite practical, I know, but the styling was just so ugly and bland that I died inside everytime I’d see it on the road. It didn’t help at all that it was outdated and they didn’t update it for years. I’m glad that they’re coming out with those model it looks very sleek. Clean simple lines and great looking LED lights are incredible. Good job Honda
I just wish it had more power. 2 liter engine with 158 hp is great for the Civic but the HRV is several hundred pounds heavier than the Civic and will feel sluggish with this 2 liter engine, especially when loaded down with cargo and people.
@@braetonwilson4296 BAM!
Looks like an angry appliance the only thing that would be worse are the new Subarus
and you know what the oil service interval is ?
It isn't great looking compared to the UK version: czcams.com/video/mO8syaKl0a0/video.html
The infotainment and HVAC combo is perfect! Say YES to physical knobs!
A design thankfully free of the over-sculpting that has plagued many Japanese vehicles. The wheel/body proportion looks weak however, and too much overhang in the front. Overall, I like it.
It certainly looks much better than the old HR-V, with the weird diagonal crease on the side that served no purpose. This looks a bit melted to me, but the overall shape is fine, so it doesn't matter much. It could just use a little sharpening up of the lines.
So they are making a distinct NA version? The EU HRV is so so much nicer.
Idk man, it looks an awful lot like it came from the same sketch pad as the Mercedes GLC. I wonder if someone from Mercedes quit and took their designs with them.
@@markmiller3279 I thought the crease was meant to look like the one on the NSX. :)
I like that they didn’t make the wheels overly big, even on the sport trim. I never understood why they feel the need to put 19s on an Accord.
The 19” wheels are typically on sportier trims, but I know there are 18” and 17”s so high would be much more beneficial for ride quality and comfort and longevity of your wheels due to a larger sidewall for defense against potholes!
Corrola cross definitely is the better buy and i would probably just save 3k and get the cx30 for the better interior and driving engagement
just bought the cx30… yeah some people don’t like the size and its blindspots take a minute to get used to, but its absolutely amazing for the price…. the interior, driving, and styling are excellent for the 26k i spent… awd too!
I almost waited for this as i LOVED the euro version of the hr-v but this version i’m indifferent towards
Corolla Cross and CX-30 have cramped, tight rear seats that won't fit rear facing child seats.
@@a_bich- Tried CX-30 and I fucking HATED that lack of touch screen infotainment and forced to use that control knob wheel. Hard pass on Mazda for me. My RAV4 has no bullshit touchscreen
@@drunksquirrel2051 The Rav 4 also has a CVT that sounds like a dying squirrel and drives like you are floating without much control ( Thats 99% of Toyotas ). The Mazda has a much better interior and much better driving feel. The infotainment is great after the first day because you dont need to touch a screen and get it dirty. Two very different cars.
@@drunksquirrel2051 like i said its the more controversial pick but idk… got used to in… 2 days?
maybe if you came from another touchscreen i can see it but i came from a 2014 fusion with 1,000 buttons on the radio that was a mess
Could you please guys do video fo 2022 mdx type S you did on regular one but type s it's different vehicle.
Thank you
I just bought a '22 Civic Si. It's my first honda and will definitely not be my last. The ergonomics and design choices in the interior are fantastic. None of the capacative touch bullshit, just high quality tactile inputs. Glad to see they've carried that philosophy over to other products. These things will sell like hotcakes.
The silhouette reminds me of a Porsche Macan. Cloth seats are a big plus as well; never got along with leather seats and I don't see the appeal of them. Also huge props to Honda for keeping physical controls in the interior; by doing that they put themselves in a very small group of manufacturers who have interior designers that actually consider usability.
Looking forward to you doing a full review on this, Mark, and giving your unabashed opinion. I'm really in a mixed camp here...the interior, simple drivetrain, and price point are good, but everything else screams "thanks, but pass" to me. They got rid of nearly everything that made an HR-V a more compact, intriguing alternative to a CR-V, and slathered it in grey. However, as some others have mentioned, this makes sense - this isn't an HR-V anymore, it is the global ZR-V. If only we could get a choice like the "big player" China, who gets both the global ZR-V and the HR-V.....
2023 Honda HR-V huge improvement over previous model ! Slainte' ! Cheers !
Got to see both Sport and EXL trims in person at my dealer. They look REAL good in person. The sport trim looks nicer by just a little, but the options you get on the EXL make it a better deal in comparison. The nicer infotainment screen is one of the first things you notice in person. It really changes the look of the interior and dash. With that said though, the base screen is also fine, and is actually awesome that they included physical buttons below the screen. No matter the spec, it just seems that Honda's design team really focused on the things that people wanted. I wish it had the 1.5L turbo, but I still believe it's a great vehicle!
This looks like a higher-end vehicle than the last generation. Certainly worth a look for anyone looking for a small crossover.
The interior, especially. That flying buttress center console with the stitching-- I didn't think we proletariats deserved such niceties...
Cos it's not really a HR-V. It's a rebaged ZR-V a car half class bigger than real new HR-V that you can get in Europe. That's why it got so big suddenly
This is now exactly as big as the Mazda CX-5! Urban dweller who are looking for a sub-compact SUV, and I am one, would probably prefer something smaller like the CX-30, Corolla Cross or the CrossTrek, which are 3-6 inches shorter. As for the exterior design, I like the rear end, which reminds of some of the current Mercedes SUV models, but the front end is terminally boring imo.
This looks like a wonderful replacement for my 07 Honda Fit. (When I can afford it used in 10 years)
It has great visibility, very nice open interior, modern amenities like the usb ports & Android auto, and I don't completely hate the looks. Plus it's a Honda, so it probably has a great powertrain. Thanks for the preview, Mr. Goose!
Great quality video as always! thanks , very interested in this model.
The global HR-V just has a much more appealing design
I hope they offer this as a plug in hybrid or full electric. I think this would do well as an ev.
And honda's got all that Prius tech they could implement in a design which looks way better XD
@@Daniel-dj7fh Prius is Toyota
@@Daniel-dj7fh but inadvertently you made a good point which I didn't really consider Honda really doesn't have any Mass Market EVs yet. The closest thing they have to a production EV is the SUV they're building for Cadillac that's about to hit the road later this year.
The Cadillac lyric is built by Honda for Cadillac the Honda version called the Honda prologue isn't easy just like the lyric but it won't be out until next year in the lyric will be out later this year
Another Great Review!! Thanks 😊
Great review tx for that
Front end looks almost exactly like the Ford Escape
and that's not a good thing IMO 😂
But somehow worse
Kinda reminds me of a new Ford Escape, especially the front.
The soothing jazz fits that backdrop perfectly - only thing missing was a martini in your hand
Better update than usual Honda! KNOBS!! You included a KNOB on the iPad!! Awesome!!! Round HVAC controls too! Geeezz... I'm playing the Lottery today!
Wow that gas mileage is shocking.
The new Ford Escape looks great!!
Exactly my thoughts! Why did they copy Ford Escape? The front end looks like Fusion (pun intended) and Escape.
Ford would wish its reliability lol
Oh crap, I'm liking this. All that space with flat folding seats. Gonna have to see this on the lot.
I like how clean its lines are. Especially in the interior. I hope the Passport gets this same treatment. I’d love to have one, but the interiors are close to 10 years old now
The Asian version looks better. This looks like a ford escape. Asian version looks like an Audi.
I don't understand how Honda always nail one end and ruins the other. Are they doing it on purpose? Was it so hard to put the Civic front end there?
With a decent front end this would rival german designs.
Then they'd have a fourth Civic next to the Civic, Integra and Accord
@@MO_Disk I don't see any hint of Porsche there tbh.
The front end looks like a S2000 that they just made taller
@@Daniel-dj7fh They’d have a fourth *Accord since it came first.
It's ok. Luckily, I spend 100% of my driving time inside the car.
Nice, looking forward to your driving review and final thoughts
I was having trouble sleeping until I watched this video..Thanks SG! 🛌
I felt like this video was a sell out, then as I watched I started to realize that this is a great car for the price. So I get why the angle and comments were what they were. That space, features and tech for 30k (AWD) is insane.
Yeah I'm buying a new car in the next year, this has become a contender. Plus it can be had in a color that isn't black, white, gray, or red.
Lol this was definitely one of SG's worse videos. It felt like Honda put a gun to his head to make this video. This car gets people as excited as socks for Christmas.
@@jr.sciencebros.8411 I felt that way at first but I also feel for what it is and costs he made me almost want one.
@@jr.sciencebros.8411 It's an unfair comparison. He was upfront about what he had to work with, and what we were going to see; in most of his other videos, he gets to DRIVE the car.
Worse fuel economy. Still slow. Less versatility. More costly. Beat on mpg, versatility, and performance by a CROSSTREK SPORT.
The design is overall a good improvement from the previous generation, but compared to the JDM Vezel which was released 2 years ago this is a big letdown. Same case for the new Civic, the North American version (sedan) is not as good as the Japanese/ European version (hatchback) but luckily the hatchback is available in the NA. Together with the 10th gen Civic, the 2nd gen NSX and the new Integra, I feel like the Honda/ Acura NA design team is losing points. Maybe they think North Americans have worse taste which is true sometimes but they shouldn't lower to their own level.
Hell yeah!! Y’all are getting more support from OEMs!!
Love the colors!
That is some abysmal fuel economy for a car coming out in the 2020's...
For the class of car, its par for the course. Most gas powered vehicles, in this class are about the same. Abysmal doesn't seem accurate when its the similar to everything else.
I mean they've been running on the same engine since like 2013~2015 depending on the model, so not that surprising tbh. Plus it's shaped like a brick, and mean to be a small people mover/hauler. If you want good MPG buy a Civic.
It’s not that light, that’s why.
@@TruthFLA I averaged that MPG in 90's cars and get 38-40 in a gas only camry from a few years ago.
You have to be dense as fuck to think 28mpg average as being normal. My v6 cars get better average than that.
@@TheAntinowherelane Don't make excuses, its a shit motor that makes a shit car that gets worse avg mpg than a corvette on a highway. A FUCKING CORVETTE gets 27 highway, this thing gets that average. Freaking accord v6's from the last generation got that kind of MPG with over DOUBLE the displacement and equal weight.
The design is so simple and beautiful. I absolutely love the simplicity it’s very elegant and affordable! I love everything about this car I just was bummed about what it seemed like no rear vents :(
Nice lighting in that space
Capacitive light? Lexus RX also has that! Was it on sale from a supplier?
Different engine and reduction in fuel economy for purely commuter car? They should've dropped the hybrid into this. Yes, could've cannibalized sales from CR-V, but if you kept the price low and different enough, people would differentiate I think.
Honda has lost it at this point. A lot of people always laugh at toyota for "not innovating" or being boring but at least they aren't expensive, they are reliable and efficient.
And honda stopped all production of all cars. Its game over for them.
The European hrv has a hybrid and magic seats and is also smaller since based on the Fit/Jazz. Its much more expensive than the US Hrv and has no awd
The hybrid train is available in Europe but not in US. Same powertrain as the Civic and Insight.
@@singular9 you nailed it to the bottom . No doubt that Honda is struggling. Where is the hybrids, electric..etc. Toyota way ahead!!! Poor strategy from Honda or better said NO strategy. Acura as well...that nonsense Integra...pfffff
@@stanleetfk3823 honestly this is a thing a number of different manufacturers are starting to do. Because demand is so high for electrified vehicles in Europe and regulations have that switch over comming up fast they are prioritizing electrified models to Europe because most manufacturers are limited right now because of mining production, and a lot of the factories set to get battery production in overdrive are still being built.
This is basically the size of the 4th-gen CR-V now, which is a good thing because there are still lots of those on the road, and was a nicervvehicle before the 5th gen got bloated and lost the plot. But you can hear the compliants already, the K20 is going to feel slow. Since it's competitor wil be the Corolla Cross, that's not a big loss for the intended market segment I guess.
No way. You're thinking of the 3rd gen.
2023 Corolla Cross Hybrid AWD will be noticeably faster than this 2023 HRV because the Corolla Cross has almost 200 horsepower and significantly more torque. Corolla Cross has better fuel economy too.

As a previous generation owner, 17' EX trim, I do like the new changes they made. The design kind of reminds me of an Audi, with the way how the A through C pillar resembles of a trapezoidal shape like the Q3, the headlights are much nicer, and the taillights are closely resembling an Audi A4; which I think young buyers will appreciate. One thing that bums me is that the new one seems to not have the rear "magic seat" design where you can lift the bottom seat to have tall cargo loaded. I do also wish this car offered a turbo option as the other markets had a 181hp engine. Alas, I do believe this car will sell very well, there are a lot of HR-Vs in the northwest where gas efficient, AWD is a must. Mines had been such a great vehicle for me, it lasted through all these years without a single maintenance cost over $1000. The dealer I bought from gave me unlimited free oil changes and the fuel average is amazing during these high gas price times. A car I started to daily more as premium gas for my other cars is starting to become very expensive.
You know this car isnt direct succesor to previous gen HRV, but the international version is
The a-pillar is really Slim that's dope
I like everything except for the MPG. 25 is way too low. Especially when this is competing against the Corolla Cross
$6 a gallon and this thing is a deal breaker for me. Cars keep getting fatter with worse MPG and people just eat'em up. The worse the MPG, the more Americans love them.
Don't know why they ruined the look for the US market. The car in other markets looks amazing and far more distinguished
I've honestly never seen a new hr-v despite it having a considerably different look to the older ones here in Germanlands.
It was very thoughtful of you to wear shoes that match the contrast stitching. No expense spared.
one of the first, if not the first, review of the hrv i have seen - good to see savagegeese getting first dibs on new cars. thanks gooseman!
Bad fuel economy, but on the other hand no turbo to break down or prematurely wear down the engine. this car will last if it has some build quality
I actually like it for what it is. I do hope they eventually implement the rear seat AC vents found here in the Civic and Integra.
Found where, not in the US Civic.
@@xp50player only USB back there which is nice.
Ah. I thought I saw AC vents in that center area but I was mistaken. Really is an oversight not to have that. Hope they address it
Rear ac vents? I don’t remember the US spec having one

I'm not a big SUV or CUV guy, but this thing has very nice lines. Almost elegant. The interior is clean and solid looking. And the price is right. Well done Honda!
Hate to hear it got larger. The size was honestly perfect with the previous gen. One thing that I hope got upgraded is the CVT. It is so bad in normal mode going up steep slow hills. It doesn't know what to do. I have to put it in sport mode constantly so the revs stay even.
A little disappointing. I had a feeling they would nerf it and not offer the Civic's 1.5t powertrain... So the Corolla Cross still has more hp, better mpg and a new hybrid option with sandbagged mpg numbers. What the heck Honda?
That Cross is hecka ugly though.
why cant they do everything

I love the design it is so cute!!!
how would this compare to the corolla cross. saw they anounced that hybrid which seems interesting. which is bigger? theres a gap in the back for a rear vent even on EX-L. is it because its a protoype and they havent decided what trims get rear vents or will no trims get a rear vent? shame it has a lower power plant. the hybrid is closer to 200hp but maybe the weight difference will make it up?
Dude, it got huge, I used to like the last gen because of the size and it’s ride height but now the thing is becoming a CRV sized CUV. Idk how to feel about it.
inches bigger isn't huge
It’s not the long/width but the overall size. It looks like a passport
@@joseacuna3239 I'd have to see it in person. Videos has nothing to compare it to and anything next to Mark looks big.
Among other things, it tells you the next-gen CR-V will get bigger.
The interior looks very practical and comfortable, as you would expect since it's based on the Civic. But that's the only thing I like about it. The design is blobby and looks a bit outdated. Looks like a mid 00s SUV. Also, the wheels look tiny on it. Why does there have to be so much space left in the wheel well?
Because it is the type of car for long suspension travel. (At least as an option you can make use of. It adds versatility.)
Big wheels will look so dated. All the most beautifully designed cars of the 50s and 60s have tiny wheels and big tires
@@BugOnAChip Even so, I don't mind. I just think the wheel wells need to be filled out a little more.
is this different from the current 2022 HRV asian market?
I really like the look and styling of this! Might be a little small for me, but if this updated look is any indication of what Honda is going for, I really can't wait to see the new CR-V. A larger version of this would not be a bad thing.
I'm not the target audience for this, but I like that it's not an overstyled mess that looks like it was drawn by a five year old. Would be nice if they could apply these design principles to a small hatchback like a an "Si" trim Honda Fit.
This is just another pumped up, inefficient hatchback. Doesn't deserve any press, because it is no different to its rivals.
I’m actually excited to see this one. some things that used to be great about Honda are now returning!
Looks like an amazing every day vehicle that's well priced, I'd jump on this if I needed to get a car.
Station Wagons are back! We just decided not to say it.
Agree that this is a stellar car with the downside of MPG - throw a hybrid in it
BAM!
Thanks!
The on-screen info graphic for the engine says "DI". Isn't this just the same engine as the base model Civic? That one has multi-point injection -- a big plus, no?
Anddd the Corolla Cross’ brother looks prettier. :)
And gets better MPG...
And it’s more powerful
We made the HR-V bigger! Next Up, the all-new CR-V with a third row and 5000lb towing capacity! The Ridgeline gets a $10,000 price hike and we remove every physical button from Odyssey Mini-van!
Man I know you’re kidding but a 3 row CRV that can tow 5000lbs isn’t a bad proposition if it still can get CRV fuel economy
Hey! They CR-V already has a 3rd row in Japan. All they need to do is get the towing figure.
I might have missed it, are they phasing out the crv?
This looks fantastic and a great upgrade from the out going model. In europe though, they do have a hybrid model which would be nice to see in the us
For this gas-guzzling tub of meh, they killed the Fit.
They don’t kill what people buy, and I had one.
Ford Escape?
It's just the round grill.
I like the front design
can phone navigation be piped to the screen?
Which would you choose, Toyota Corolla Cross, Mazda CX-30 or Kia Sportage? I choose death.
Corolla cross. Bigger, more reliable, better transmissin, and better fuel economy.
Kona N an just have fun xd
With the HRV increasing in size, the new CRV is going to be massive compared to the outgoing gen.
Not necessarily. As this is the bestselling market category other makes have already introduced more than one model with minor differences in size (Mazda and Ford come immediately to mind). The current CR-V is already one of the biggest crossovers in the class. The HR-V will be competing with the Corolla Cross, Kona, Seltos, etc, all of which have smaller crossovers in their lineups (arguable, in the case of the Soul), as well as bigger compacts, too. They will keep this just a little bit smaller and cheaper than the CR-V.
Not really CR-V is an international car they can't make it too big. And tgis is not a real HR-V, it'a a rebaged ZR-V so the real HR-V is still the same size as before. CR-V will be that way too
Looks nice and all but why a CVT?
That new HRV looks amazing both inside and out. No turbo option? I have a sneaking suspicion that a manual turbo HRV at some point in the near future will be offered.
This car makes no sense at the top end. The Sport AWD and EX-L trims are pushing Rav4 territory and the rav4 is not only bigger, but also more powerful and still gets better fuel economy somehow. The corolla cross straight up murders this thing if you are looking for the technical. It is techincally larger, and also more efficient, and cheaper.
But we all know what is going on. Honda is desperate for that cash. They have zero cars being produced, honda dealers are literally EMPTY for the forseable future, this is a paper launch at best, won't see but 1 or two of these per dealer and there will be a minimum 8000$ markup (literally went to 6 honda dealers and they are doing it across the board like a cartel).
Honda is bleeding, and Japan will most likely ask toyota to bail them out like toyota bailed out mazda and subaru.
GG's but...toyota I guess has officially won at this point. Out produced, out engineered, and out efficiency-ed everyone in their segment.
CRV to RAV4 is actually the correct comparison, not HRV to RAV4
@@user59371 if you read further you would've seen he compares this to the Corolla Cross
Those markups go to the dealership the not the manufacturer, lol. I would choose this new HR-V over the Corolla cross all day.
@@MikeJones-on9vm no, they go to the manufacturer. Ask your dealer manager :) they'll tell you they don't have a choice.
@@imnotsqiddy why would I read any further if their idea of a fair comparison is a HRV to RAV4? Clearly they don’t have all their mental faculties.
I really like the simplicity of the interior. Like the Mazda 3. My stoned teenage self would have loved those little touch lights in the back.
Going Doug! good for you ( being early is a huge thing in Germany and Japan, i assume...
Where is it made?
