    Please note if you’re not confident working on your vehicle take it to a specialist, I’m happy doing my own jobs and if this guide helps you then you’re welcome to use it, please don’t slate my work or moan if yours went wrong it’s how I did it not necessarily how you would do it.
    Cheers Rick.

    Nice one Rick, well explained and captured. I had looked at PF Jones and had a quote but still not had it fitted yet 😆. Have fitted plenty over the years but as you say cars are more complicated now so was unsure about doing myself. Guess it doesn't affect the parking sensors either. Cheers

    Thanks Rick, that was very handy for me as I recently purchased a new fitted out Fiat campervan (in Australia) and the manufacturer forgot to fit the towbar. I got a refund and thought its easy to get one fitted later on but when I went to the local Fiat distributor they made a big deal about it and said that the internal furniture would have to be removed to do it etc. etc to connect wiring to the front of the van... big $$$.
    Then I started on you tube and discovered they were only banging on about a power wire connection to the battery and I'm thinking why they either didn't connect to the house battery (in the rear of my van) or run wire under the van! Now I've seen you do it clearly its not hard and I was going to be ripped off.

    Hi Rick, just waiting on delivery of my towbar for our 2013 Ducato X250 campervan. Excellent video. I bought similar electrics to you i.e. piggy backed off lights etc. I noticed that LeisureBit only had to basically connect a plug to canbus and an earth at the back. Assume the newer models are different even though my ECS kit says ‘2011 onwards’. As a retired mechanical engineer the electrics sometimes scare me !

    Hi. Fitted a tow bar yesterday after watching you vid. Thanks. Just got the wiring to do (connect into the van) just wondering if t you know of a piggy back cable available anywhere to save using the scotch locks which sometime sever the copper and well as the insulation!! Failing that I'm tempted to make a piggy back if I can find the correct plugs!! Cheers

    Rick. Thanks very much for this. We have a Witter towbar, factory fitted by Elddis. It was slightly off level and causing the plastic step to rub on the bottom of a barn door. Whilst sorting that, I noticed one of the three bolts from each side in the triangle configuration were missing. Do you know what the metric thread size is for them and if they are all the same thread/length?

    Is there any special precautions in disconnecting the reversing sensors

    • @RickandHeather
      @RickandHeather  Před 5 dny

      I fitted them anyway so I don’t think so, if you have factory fit you can have them coded out when reverse is selected with the trailer plug connected

    • @RickandHeather
      @RickandHeather  Před rokem +1

      No, modern vehicles have CanBus wiring, the voltage sent to the bulb is a signal trigger more than a straight 12v so it throws errors on the dashboard such as bulb failure etc.
