    I knew this had to work for larger decals just like a tint job. There was no way I was going to attempt this on a 30$ factory sticker without water. Thank you! Short and to the point. Exactly what I needed.

    Well everyday is a school day as they say your never too old to learn. I have to shortly put new bonnet decal stickers on my tractor I was dreading it but after watching this you made it look so easy many thanks for sharing this

      You can't use to much water solution. Spray a ton on, slide it around so it's right where you want it then squeegee it out.

    Thanks for the tutorial. I will be putting new decals on my Bobcat loader and excavator soon. I was concerned about trial and error placement with the dry method.

      Yeah, you only get one shot trying it dry. Don't be afraid to use to much spray.

    I was about to mention that you can use soapy water in a spray bottle and it will come out just fine no special solution needed!

      They charge way too much for application fluid when a few drops of dish soap (Dawn) mixed in water works just as well.

      For every 20oz of water add 1/4 teaspoon dawn dish soap and 1/2 teaspoon of 70% or higher isopropyl alcohol
      There ya go , the same exact stuff we use to put on our decals at the Ford shop , take your time go slow, if you don't have a heated garage wait to do it when
      It is hot outside for better adhesion and DO NOT wash or wax for at minimum 72 hours , we don't wash them for five full days after the application...
      Be paient and good luck

    I worked at fint assembly and have probabky imstalled at least 5000 of these, also the mylar that is on the beds. We used a little liquid hand soap with water in a spray bottle For the decals . Then we used some alcohol with water in a spray bottle for the mylar.

    What about decals that have backing on the back and transfer film on the top? I guess it would have to completely dry before removing the transfer film?

      You do it the same, as long as you squeegee it good and pull the transfer off slowly, it will be fine. Thanks for watching!

      Clean, unwaxed surface, water with a few drops of dish detergent, I used dawn.

    Would have been useful to know what's in the solution. I've read water and washing-up liquid elsewhere, then you see shop-bought solutions...are they superior in some way?

    Thanks for showing this, I just purchased a large Harley Davidson decal for my back truck window and it was terrible trying a dry install, had creases all over it. Did you you use like a soap and water solution to apply yours?

      Usually small decals I put on dry. But as long as you can squeegee the water/soap mix out then yes.

    What's the best method to seal the edges to prevent peeling? I'm redoing a set of $80 graphics because the automatic car wash made a fine line of the graphic peel up...

      No way to seal the edges. Best way to prevent that is to make sure the surface is perfectly clean and free of any wax before installing. This will ensure the best adhesion and help prevent any premature peeling.

      Yes, just a bottle of water with a few drops maybe 4-5 drops of dish detergent, some put a spoon of vinegar, I don't.

      You can't use just water, It was a tint solution that I was using but basically use a spray bottle of similar size and put 4 drops of dishwashing detergent in it, slush it around a little bit and you're good to go. Thanks for watching.

      It's tint spray, you can use a spray bottle filled with water 3 drops of Dawn dish washing liquid. I've used the dawn for many many years, I just has this tint spray on hand.

      Crooked Level no i tried to use water. I fucked up. Lol def. need to add some type of soap. (Not much) just enough for the decal to be able to slide around a bit freely.

      Crash 1974 Oh yes, that's one of the reasons to do this. When it's wet you just work out the bubbles from the center. Zero bubbles!! You'll never do that dry with a decal this size.

      @@therealmccoy5433 the paper is on the backside so you have to take it off. The body line drops in the front towards the wheel, so following the body line would have been crooked.

      @Dave Smith if I was doing it dry I would have left half on but when using this method you don't need to as you can slide it. The tape line was the straight line for lining it up.

    Air bubbles go away on their own, by the way. It may take a while, but the air escapes.

    Alcohol is what you clean the paint with. You will hate yourself if you use laquer thinner.

      Nah, I've used automotive lacquer thinner on urethane paint for over 30 years.
