If you want a good example of a well made ghillie and how to make one Id suggest kicking mustang he makes them himself and actually puts them to use and even people that know what he looks like walk 2-3 feet infront of him. He will also sell them soon as the kmcs ghillie
Ok. imma buy a gillie suit now. Thanks Brian.

The Australian 'yowie suit' is not to be confused with the Japanese 'yaoi suit'. They do not serve the same purpose.

Pretty sure they do. If you wear a Yaoi suit, people will go out of their way to pretend they dont see you.

Yaoi suits are better.
You guys need to find a former sniper or something to come teach you about camouflage. With all that terrain around your property, this seems like the sort of thing to do a follow-up episode on.
And then a live stream of a giant hide and seek game with all the cast and crew where the sniper will find them and shoot them with airsoft BBs. That will be hilarious
This 100%. In the "wild" Ghillie suits used by marksman are made mostly of materials gathered around them.

Yeeeah... I think a redux of this episode would be worth doing with a scout/sniper team. Still loved it though.
@T Lynch you never take items from the area your hide is in, always from the area you're moving through. Most military ghillie suits have no need to put materials on the chest or front of the trousers, they're just going to fall off and potentially give you away. Most of the time you're staking you are prone, so that is why material on the back of your clothing is more important.
shadows move as the sun does. Snipers don't. Your best bet is making your own ghillie that isn't so bulky it increases your silhouette and then lying prone using the natural terrain to your advantage. Hills, mounds, and other actual earth to get behind, as well as bushes are key.

Yeah that's what I think would be the case as well , the materials used in Jason's suit are more likely to catch fire if small sparks or flame touches it but the layers underneath are relatively safe unlike if Brian's suit were to catch fire it be melting plastics all over his body and it's harder to quell the fire as well in that case
@Anonymous Anonymous that was exactly what I was thinking!
You should try to fortify a foxhole in the woods, with sand bags and mesh and stuff

@Anonymous Anonymous The text summaries were descriptive enough to spare me from needing to image search. Mobile browsers may not be so lucky, though.
I found an effective way to build one is use and old flight suit or BDUs. Dye woven burlap like you'd get at a craft store, cut it into strips of varying length, frey the ends slightly, and glue the strips on with a hot glue gun.
I have camo burlap and I'm thinking of cutting it up into strips and putting it on a longsleeve cammo shirt and pants
This was what the pre-mission prep was like for all ghillied up

A follow-up episode with the snow Ghillie suit would be cool! Travel and film someplace in the NW or NE.
Modern Rogue NW would be GREAT!
Since you guys have all the trails and everything on the compound, you should definitely do a short series on tracking. Being that it can be somewhat of a self taught skill, and that im sure there are more than plenty experienced people willing to do a collab/tutorial, it could easily be done in proper modern rogue fashion
billy Horat I’d love to, but yeah ... I’d definitely prefer we have an expert. 😁
I built my first Ghillie suit back in 1992, I weighed 215 pounds at 6’5”, now I am pushing 260, the Ghillie suit doesn’t cover as much any more, but It still works for coyote hunting. I used army surplus BDUs, about them a few sizes bigger, I got some cargo net I stitched to the BDUs, and then spent days tying burlap to the netting. Then I went down to the local laundromat and put them in the dryer, because I didn’t want to run my laundry machines. This teased the burlap stringers and caused them to, for lack of a better word, tease like dreadlocks. The first thing I do when I go to a hunt, is grab whatever debris is on the ground and throw it on the suit. It adds to the local flora.
OMG TODAY IS THE DAY. I HAVE BEEN WAITING SO LONG TO SEE AN EPISODE ON THIS. I SUGGESTED IT ONCE AND YOU LIKED AND REPLIED. THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!
Boy, do I sure love turning on notifications for TMR so that their videos can get as much recognition as possible!
Ghillie suits are supposed to pick up the terrain around you. When the army uses them, they drag them across the ground to pick up any debris of the surrounding terrain. It makes them blend in better.
Yeah, a good rule of thumb is to just roll around in the debris a bit.
This is the best channel. You guys should do a challenge where you have to make something and you can only source the materials from Goodwill or a thrift store.
Id suggest watching kicking mustang he makes great ghillie suits and plays airsoft with them and people just walk right by or even take cover next to him and dont notice him
There is limestone on your property, another clue... We will find you!!!! 😂😋
It took me about 3 minutes to get both home address and a business address that appear to match the footage in satellite imagery through a few google searches... you cant be 83rd on the now defunct google+ and expect to have any privacy
Katamari Damacy reference gets a like from me
A good idea to really break up your silhouette is to find a 2 piece canvas tent from a military surplus store, (you only need 1 part of it), cut a hole for your head in the center of it so that you essentially wear it like a poncho(or you could just use a canvas poncho like I did but good luck in finding one of those cheap...I found mine for $7 at a flea market) and then do the rest kinda like Jason's though there's a vital part that you missed....the obligatory mud roll. Yep, on a good rainy day(or when you have a good mud puddle when it's not rainy) you take your suit out and roll in the mud with it. If you're doing it on when it's dry but you have mud, you can then go find a pile of grass and sticks and roll in it. Let it dry and break up some of the clumps and you'll have something that'll be so hard to see that you will be completely surprised. Also, you can wet down baking soda and put it all over your suit to make it more fire retardant. Baking soda will give off CO2 when it reaches a certain temp and it'll kill a fire pretty fast. That said, the mud will help with the fire retardant aspect as well.
I was today years old when I learned that Jason was married to Allison Murphy from one of my favorite Rooster Teeth shows.
No... that can't... oh shit, what.
"Stay low and move slowly. We'll be impossible to spot in our ghillie suits."- Cpt. MacMillan
They better not fuck up the new one
Why is no one mentioning that modern rogue has always done conversion from imperial to metric and money, like they even differentiated between aud and nzd
They've done it for a long while.
A couple years before i joined the navy i bought a ghillie suit for halloween purposes. Turns out it works amazing for the fauna near me especially if i rolled around in some leaves and everything; at night if i laid down anywhere in the grass i would completely disappear which i utilized the next year and following year. My favorite times were when my buddy and i would run through the neighborhood at night during the summer (different color ghililie suit) and just walked around. People would chase us and we would duck into bushes. Theyd get about 2 feet away from us before walking away
Never realised until today how grateful I am for your conversions XD
Yes!!! Never thought my suggestion would be done

You can also just make a burlap robe/poncho with longer pieces of grass and such. The best part about burlap is that you just thread the flora into the fabric.
I feel like tactical ghillie suits should (and may) have a sort of leg flap that can be pinned up so you don't collect so many twigs while walking
Ronindrix extra camouflage
Who ever wrote the closed captions is a genius, "Moss man and the Raffia Reprobate" lol!
I some some nice ghillie suits in the Marines. Those guys would spend so much time making them. They would custom make them for the terrain they would be in and they would become nearly invisible. You would walk right past them and not realize there was 12 guys there. We did similar things to our vehicles, once parked in a good spot hundreds of people walked past us and never noticed. It really depends on how motivated you are to not be seen.
In the Army Cadets (UK, ages 13-18) they teach you to cover your field gear in plants that are just around, like you did here. As you can imagine, a bunch of kids aren't very effective as this, as the best we got was bush boots.
Hid the black, shiny boots against the greenery pretty well though, and started the bush boot clan.
"i hid in the bushes and scared children"
-brian 2019
When the rogues have it off it's called a ghillie suit ,but when they put it on it's a silly suit
thank you for the conversions
Over the years, I have made many Ghillie suits, and the best way I have found, is to buy used ripstop military B.D.U.s and cut small slits in the fabric. This way, you can change the camouflage patterns and materials.
It's always a pleasure to see Trevor.
Thumbs down, not enough conversion rates :P
Also you missed an opportunity to use Zimbabwean dollars 1 euro is 92,233,720,368,547,760.00 ZWD right now :D
A funny joke, but how bad is the Zimbabwean dollar right now? I know they were trying to fox the economy by printing more money, since that always works
"The First Zimbabwe Dollar (ZWD) is obsolete. In June 2006 it was
replaced by the Second Zimbabwe Dollar (ZWN) at a rate of 1000 to 1. A
third and fourth dollar were later introduced and then the currency was
abandoned. Zimbabwe no longer has its own currency and Zimbabwe dollars
of all types are worthless."
-Quote from: coinmill.com/EUR_ZWD.html
Probably better info: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zimbabwean_dollar (its hard to understand the actual/historical conversion rate, the number I gave was what first popped up in a google search)
Wait until the U.S. dollar tanks from the endless deficit spending
4:00 I didn't even know there was a allergie to grass. Well you learn new things each day.
The way the store bought ones are supposed to work is you attach the plants in your area to your suit, in environments with a lot of thorny bushes such as gorse it will attach itself to your tassels.
Oh no. You should have checked urban dictionary before shouting "Yaoi out!" Oh well. Too late now.
Wait a minute, wait a minute. Brian knows the main theme of Katamari Damacy? WAT?
Katamari Damacy isn't a really unknown game, most people probably know it
I always enjoy watching you guys do whatever you guys do :D
I made mine with camo burlap sheet cut into strips and glues onto a camo outfit. the twigs getting caught in it caused them to fray more making it more effective over time
Making a ghillie suit from scratch is time consuming and expensive, it's better to start with a cheap one and replace/add local flora.
Or you could look online for one that looks like local flora instead
Or just call in an air strike.
Hide and seek advanced
Play with 6 people 4 hider and 2 seekers one with ghille suit 2 with hunting camouflaged and one with just dark clothing
im down, where are we meeting?
So one of the best and most inexpensive ways to make one. Start with pants and a long sleeve like Jason. Then get twine and sew it through leaving two sides hanging. Tie off and unravel the twine then get local foliage to decorate. It takes about 6hrs and costs about $60
Loved the conversion thing.
Oh I thought a, "Yaoi Suit" was a completely different thing. My bad.

Alright Murphy where did the guille suit first get used?
Joogsquad
Gotta love watching CZcams on your Birthday!
So a little add on to the show. If you buy burlap and strip the jute out yourself it is generally cheaper. Stripping jute is a pain in the ass though. Also you don't keep the local vegetation on the suit after your op is done. You 'veg' when you get out into the field, so it looks perfectly natural to where you are, and you pick a spot based on what you used. If you used a bunch of hemlock then bush into a hemlock grove. If you used lots of grass be prone in an area with grass. When you are finished with whatever you are doing in the field, say paintball, airsoft, hunting, or the actual military, you strip that plant matter out before packing your bags. Also an upgrade on making one yourself, start with a camouflage base, like some old BDU's or something from your local army navy store, then cut out most of the back and up to the shoulders, and sew the fishnet on there, makes some breathing area, which helps save on the warmth of the suit, as they are hot af. If you don't want to sew use shoe glue or other fabric glues. The jute layers should overlap vertically downward, for complete coverage, use the jute to tie the plant matter in, don't tie the plants to the jute like Brian did.
Please keep putting Trevor in the videos!
Even the ads are funny! Like you guys so much!
After a long day at work I needed nothing more than a new MR episode ❤️
I believe military snipers make their own which might be an idea which is better

I absolutely love the banter. Especially at the end 😋. These guys appear to be good friends.
typically with the shop bought one you'd still put your own materials in it. Snipers will take a base colored suit and at their sniping location thread in their own fauna. They turn up hours before whatever they're there for and set their suit up, They get little sowing kits as well to kind of stitch in the grasses if they needed to. Same with their gun, covering it with grasses. Not only this but they did the same thing to their surroundings and landscaped it to mask them even more
you can see how it'd work when you keep getting sticks stuck on yourself, it kind of grips to the material.
Brian’s cover of the Katamari Damacy theme when ?

When I was 15 years old, my hick friends and I played extreme games of man hunt and airsoft every day and night through the summer. I got a guille suit exactly like Ryan Rushwood wore here. Because of the low sticks and sticker bushes all around, the string on my pants got all natted up and caught up and slowed me down. I eventually just wore the guille head cover and jacket, without the guille pants. For pants I wore my full length Army camoflague cargo pants with my black combat boots.
Yeah I pissed my friends off quite often.
