Just noticed that Dredd figured out Schneider's character was in the droid because he was using his own voice in place of the droids own. The unmodified drone had a much deeper and monotone sounding voice and even played a little jingle as it went past in one scene. Figure he ripped out the electronics and control modules to fit in and had to do everything manually which is why you hear the clang of a dropped plate when it stopped and covers him in food. I like little things like that that go unnoticed, might have to see if there is a deleted/extended version of it, .
@Sebastian Thor *This Summer!*
Thank you for this explanation, I was just searching for an answer!

**Jumps out window**
**Dies**
Dredd: Illegal suicidal infraction. Sentence; 2 years.
Is that a thing?
Str4t0sPh3rE defenestration was legalized in the Great Window War of 2050
2 years later
Judge: “alright you’re free to go, grab your stuff and leave.”
Skeleton:
Judge: “refusal to obey a judge is illegal! 5 more years!”
🤣🤣🤣
*Body lies on the streets*
Dredd: Littering in the streets! Sentence: 3 years.
You know, now that I look back on it, this movie was actually kind of great in its schlocky own way.
In a mortal Kombat movie way
There were a lot of pretty good, schlocky films released in the late 80s, early 90s
It was an ok movie, it was just a bad Judge Dredd movie...
It was okay. The studio was responsible for insisting as much time as possible with Dredd's helmet off. They believed the movie would perform better in theaters if Stallone's face was visible. Stallone himself wasn't necessarily okay with it.
There was a lot of cheesy, dumb stuff in it but this scene also shows fun SF ideas and good dialogue.
I don't understand how people could hate this movie
because Dredd never removes the helmet in view of others
People act as if this movie had no moral ambiguity or dilemmas, but here we just saw the hero throw someone back in jail for reasons completely unjustified. Which kinda shows how much Dredd is way too stuck-up about the law to see that the guy needed to GTFO and disguise himself as a serving droid.
🙄 🤔
😹 😹
@@j.i.s.l178 The *Fuck* is that supposed to mean? I've seen you comment on another post, but all it is are those stupid ass emojis. If this is bait, ya got me. If not, why even comment that?
I knew you'd say that
In the comics Dredd is a complete whack job psychopath little better than the criminals he judges. This movie was just a caricature of the comics.
@@nonaurbizniz7440 And the comics themselves are a caricature of fascism, so the shoe fits.
"Maybe if we treat them kindly, they wouldn't turn out this way..."
-Judge Minty.
"Bloop" - Judge Fish.
'That would've been suicide.'
' Maybe. But it's legal.'
Dredd was uptight about the law. But RoboCop is the real android between the two 😂
Robocop is a cyborg. Not an andriod
Weirdly suicide is illegal IRL, so i guess they've abandoned that law at some point in the future.
That line about recycled food was a great piece of world building.
Still is.
UN 17 Sustainable development goals, goal #2, “ ZERO HUNGER”, circular economy, ZERO WASTE.
Have you been sleeping under the rock ?
That will be how they advertise insect protein.
@@HawkGTboyHuman centipede part 4
Solving world hunger circular style
that sounds like a modest proposal!
After the Atomic War, all food in Mega City One is either vat-grown textured protein (called "munce") or reclaimed corpse starch.
Raw munce has a horrible stench if exposed to air. It's used to fumigate RadFleas from housing blocks.
Eat recycled food.! It's good for environment and ok for you :D
you do know what they mean by ''recycled food'' in the judge dredd universe, right?
@@bostonianful hrmmm?
@@Mr-Ad-196 well, in the judge dredd universe, the earth has been devastated by nuclear war and resource depletion, which means there are no suitable farm lands on earth that are able to produce food. so how do they make food? the answer is both simple and mildly gross.
basically, nothing in the mega cities goes to waste, not even the dead, and due to the population of the mega cities and the state of the earth, only the super rich have the privilege of burying their own loved ones in the ground. but for all other dead bodies, which counts for 95% of deaths in the mega cities, their bodies are taken to a Resyk center. at the Resyk center, their bodies are completely recycled. in which their bodies are broken down into the most basic components and the nutrients of the body are removed, recycled, and placed into synthetic foods, hence the name ''recycled food''. all the other body parts are recycled to be used as organ donations, among other things.
@@bostonianful oh God............can't they just dig deep unground and grow mushrooms? They are easy to grow.......
@@Mr-Ad-196 appearently not, the ground has been destroyed and poisoned by radiation, unless you want to risk being radiated, its not gonna work, not to mention that most of the soil is too fertile and any seeds that are needed are either contaminated or missing. sorry, but this is the judge dredd universe, and its all they've got.
every time i watch this version all i think when i see the judges uniforms is them attempting a Captain Falcon cosplay
Lmao
FALCON PUUUNCH
Ironicaly they are on par with the comic book.
They predate Captain Falcon. The huge metal paudrons and badge lanyard are as per the comics.
1:06 **grumbles in Dredd**
This was basically another version of Demolition Man. I hated this film when I was a kid, but after rewatching it a few weeks ago I thought it was pretty fun.

Eat recycled food
It's good for the environment
And ok for you
Fitting how Diane Lane’s character is Judge Hershey, because she is sweeeeet.
Beware the arbitrators, the enforcers of the Emperor's will
"He's habitual Hershey". "Maybe, but it's legal". Classic.
0:34 can't believe that was cleared as a big budget costume in 1995 man times have changed.
Idk, I think it makes them truly memorable. And not in a bad way.
Molds can be expensive. Especially when you need a large order. The production company probably got milked in making those costumes. Besides its not about how good they look, but how hard they’re to make and the materials used.
They were trying to replicate the look of the comic books. Someone should have told them that what looks good on a comic doesn't necessarily look good on screen. The 2012 Dredd film with Karl Urban was a lot better in that respect.
I like how Stallone imitates the stand over aspect of Dredd.
Practically speaking, all food is recycled. We eat it, we excrete it, it fertilizes plants, some of which we eat, some of which feed animals we then eat. It's a roundabout way that takes decades, but still.
After watching Dredd, I've got a pretty good idea on what "recycled food" is.
Soylent Green.
@Natasel That's a good possibility. I just remember in the opening scene of Dredd, "Multiple wounded, and bodies for recyc" that he was calling into Control. Which sounds a hell of a lot like they recycle dead bodies for...
I skip the middle man and eat my poop
found the rick and morty fan
Nah! They want you eating food made from recycled plastic and bugs. You got it all wrong! Sustainability is the name of the game.
This movie taught me to loathe comic sidekicks.
*HALT!* Still Love this campy Dredd
I found a book of old Judge Dredd comics on a coworker's desk. He pretty much matches what I'm seeing here, way more so than the 2012 movie.
The 2012 film put it's own spin on judges and the look of mega city 1.
The 2012 looks way better and less cartoonish, though.
@@AnimaMik each movie set out to do something: this one wanted to be a bit cartoony and fun, the 2012 wanted to be a bit more grounded and gritty
Both accomplished their goals, imo

They look like the Arbiters from 40K I think the same designers were involved in makeing 40K and Dredd.
Pretty sure 40k took inspiration from Dredd, like a lot of their stuff.
You're correct, in the early days of 40k they used some of the same artists who worked on the Dredd comics.
Seriously... Wh40K borrowed from Dredd, just as they "borrowed" from Dune, Starship Troopers, Alien, Star Wars, etc... it's not original.
Dredd and 40k have the same art designers.
@@wiseguy01 it's still really cool, but your still right since Gears of War also borrowed stuff from 40k.
Rob Schneider deserves 5 years alone for Deuce Bigalow - European Gigolo

"Eat recycled food"
A polite way of saying "eat shit"
More like eating corpses!! Recycled foods are created from nutrient extracted from corpses!!
@@tomxaider2058 pfff they want to liquify bodies and water your crops with in the real world too.
In Judge Dredd, "recycled" means corpses whose organs are salvaged (thus, recycled) to be later processed as food.

As far as I'm concerned, you can have it all to yourself. This tastes like recycled cheese.

Born in 1980, saw this movie and loved immensely. Wanted to be a street judge ever since. The way things are going in America, I might still have a chance.
Why does Diana lane look so fine?
Because she’s Diana Lane! 😍😍😍
Weird how Dredd's initial trial was _en banc_ (a panel of judges) but this guy only gets Dredd despite multiple Judges being in the area.
Heck, if anything else, he should have been able to request a different Judge hear his case.
That's because Dreed is a judge, but Megacity One "judges" are policemen, lawyers, actual judges, and executioners.
So when a citizen breaks the law the "judges" can arrest them, state their crimes, judge them and dictate sentence, and execute them if necessary.
I’d shit my pants if Sylvester Stallone yelled at me to halt
“Halt”(0:34)
Eat the bugs
I say this once a month.

Diane Lane was soooo hot!
I want to like Judge Dredd but everyone is so terrible there’s no room or time given to moral ambiguities. It’s all just part of their society and the fun moral questions are given less time than the fighting...

Is this Seattle Autonomous zone so-called CHAZ?
His right pauldron is giving me serious w40k vibes.
Well Eagles tend to be a commonly used trope in any sort of authoritative presentation. The Imperium/Mega City One are both autocratic institutions. Also, 40K definitely took a lot from JD/AD2K.
HALT
They nailed the costumes, the futuristic tech and the sheer weirdness of Mega City One, but that script... eeugh :(
come to think of it, the whole Dredd story is a form of regressive and arrested development; that brute force is the only answer to the problems of humans existence and Dredd knows nothing of irony even after the end of the story.
Well maybe in the US and European Megacities, but there are other Megacities, most notably in Asia and what not where society is living much much better. The Judges of those cities actually have leisure time and some even spend it among its citizenry in comradey
Im sorry but the suits literally look like Captain Falcon.
Out of all the Laws that are illegal Jumping out the window is legal.
The new Dreed movie is way better. Waaaaaaay
1:21 Fergie: Comic relief 😌 😌? Automatic 5 years just for illegal tampering with an food city droid and hiding in one? Are you kidding me? No! No! I had no choice during the block war they were killing each other in those rooms. 40 floors? It would of been suicide. What? No, don't close the case. You're misjudging me.

So... How is food recycled? Do they... Dont tell me they reuse shit.
Recycled foods are made from nutrients extracted from corpses
@@tomxaider2058 .......i don't know if thats any better......
So Dredd is the bad guy?
So I never got this: how did Dredd know someone was hiding in the droid? Did he just bluff or was it movie logic?
The droid voice was different due to the hack. It's like recognizing that SIRI is too high pitched on one specific phone
The original droid plays a jingle as it drives by and had a deeper, more monotone voice. Rob was using his own voice for the robot (most likely because he had to rip out so much of its guts to fit in there
The best part of this movie is foreshadowing of legal cannibalism in our future….
I always say, the movie is a mess, but a well meaning mess. Okay, the plots all over the place, and has more hole than the Jigsaw Man, but the opening Block War scene was like an 80s Brian Bolland or Ron Smith strip brought to life. They got Mean Machine right, even though he only lasts barely 30 seconds of screen time (seriously, The Angel Gang are the greatest anti-hero sci-fi punk movie not yet made). The production design was spot on (no surprise, considering they had actual 2000ad artists contribute), and until he took the helmet off, Stallone did a pretty good pass at Dredd. And I will never stop loving Diane Lane in a Judge's uniform.
But after that first 20 minutes, it just becomes another copy&paste Stallone movie, that would still be almost passable as a guilty pleasure, so bad it's good movie, if Rob Schneider wasn't there all the time with what they assumed was comic relief, and that cringey "I knew you'd say that" catch phrase.
is she MarthA?
