When our travel plans changed, we decided to meet up with some friends who were staying just outside of Creede, CO. We weren’t disappointed, to say the least! In this week’s video, we explore the town of Creede and its rich mining history. We go on an Underground Mine Tour and drive the Bachelor Loop to see all of the different mining districts and ghost towns. We even find an amazing boondocking area and share those details with you!!
There will be more to come from our time in Creede, including a 4-wheeling adventure, a hike to Wheeler Geographic Area, and a motorcycle ride to Lake City.

SW Colorado in September, the second best thing in life. The first is SW Colorado in October.
Those of us in the know try to keep places like this quiet. I usually tell people there isn't much to do there, your better off going to Florida :)
4wheeling in the San Juans, Hiking 14ers, Hiking 13ers, Hiking anywhere in Rado, camping,
fishing, chasing the fall colors, breathing clean mountain air, 300+ days of sunshine each year, skiing, Silverton, Ouray, Durango... aaahh, just can't beat it!
Shhhhhhhhhh
This is probably your best travel video yet. Thank you. I think the music really helped and matched the video experience very well.
Creede has a 4th of July parade during the day and at night they will shoot fireworks from the top of the mountain. Pretty cool!!!
That sounds awesome!
Creede is such a hidden gem in southern CO! My sons and i went last summer all over southern CO and Creede was definitely one of the highlights
When we go to that area we usually stay in South Fork. Great restaurants (especially the steak house and the mexican restaurant) and an old-timey grocery and hardware store. The fall color in late September and early October is usually brilliant gold. And Creede is one of our favorite places! Can't wait for part 2.
We stay at River Bend in South Fork, it's a nice base camp for venturing out to Creede, Lake City, etc. lots of great fishing and 4x4ing. I will say the veterinarian in Creede is outstanding. Last year we had one of our dogs get injured and had to make a visit to the vet.
@@humbledsparrows4687 We stay at Peacock Meadows. Wonderful base camp. And Lake City is one of our favorite places to visit.
This video really warned my heart. I spent the summer of 1991 working in Creede building log cabins and I stayed in South Fork with family. I loved that area so much. It was a perfect summer. It made my day to see your video and bring back so many memories. Thank you...
Great job on this one 👏
Dont be giving my camping spot secrets away! LOL
We're on the road, so I was thrilled to see this great video of home. My grandfather was born at Bachelor in 1895 and our family still owns a portion of my great grandparents' homestead property out on Moonshine Mesa. Thank you for this wonderful video!
Now that's a smart chiropractor lol
Daisy is so adorable she funny as she watching you talk her expressions are so cute
Nice to see it in the condition it is in, thriving little town and all. Keep up the good work, you are saving us money every time we watch where you have been. Much appreciated, Rich n Pat
Totally enjoyed it! Happy travels...
Love it...just wait till you continue on up to Lake City and beyond.
Colorado is hard for most people to understand.
When you get off the beaten path...it's almost unbelievable.
And I hope it always stays that way.
Nothing better than Colorado in the Fall. Thanks for the awesome video of your visit to Creede. Looking forward to Part 2.
Very interesting area. We live in another mountainous state, so Colorado wasn’t very high on our bucket list, until we see videos like yours! Maybe this fall… thanks for the great footage and accompanying music. (P.S. Tara does a great job editing👍🏻)
Amazing town, loved the video presentation and the music selections. This is a must-see town. Thanks again for your hard work producing these videos.
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for watching! 😊
Great video and I loved the music.
Wow ! Amazing ! Beautiful !
Hey guys! Thanks for the heads up on the spot! We are parked at that spot right now! It is AMAZING! Much love from fellow full timers! Hope to meet on the road.
Very interesting area, will add it to my list to visit. That on the bench that you were wondering what it was for is so you switch the backrest to sit on either side of the bench. Have it one way look toward the road and move it to the other side and sit towards the stores.
Just had the pleasure of bringing my teen sons to the southwest and CO for their first time and Creede was one of the most epic highlights of our journey. We drove the entire Silver Threar from south to north. Awesome! Next time have to camp up off the Bachelor Loop
We were in Creede last 4th of July. In fact, I think you guys took some video and photos from the place we camped at the top of the Bachelor loop. It is such a fun town. My wife and her family grew up in Alamosa and they went to Creede all the time.
9:00 the backs of the seats move foward so you can sit facing out or in.
It does look like that but they didn't budge. Maybe I didn't push hard enough.
Having spam and canned ham always works in a pinch. Love your videos
love this video!!! thanks so much sharing this with us....
Very cool! Great tunes too...
The back of that bench holds hay and the knob is to tie off the reins of the horse.
I can't wait!... I retire in 11 years... you guys have given us a plan for the future... can't freakin wait!... keep em comin changing lanes!... first stop Zion
So thankful I pull a teatdrop trailer and don't have to park in commercial campgrounds. I camp at Beaver Creek outside of South Fork and Palisade between South Fork and Creede.
Absolutely 💯 %amazing. God blessed ya'll with some beautiful places to share with us. Thank you so much , I can't wait to see what's next. Thank you and be careful
well you have added another place to our list. love the video. I wanted to comment on the bench you seen and said what was the back for I was thinking it could have been a hay feeder for horses but didn't get a good look at how it was laid out for as surroundings.
Colorado is my favorite state to play in. Have not been to Creede yet. Grandby, Pagosa Springs, and Buena Vista are awesome.
Beautiful video guys!!! Loved it!! We hope to visit Creed Colorado and stay at Mountain Views at Riversedge.... Gorgeous Country!!!
Take care and stay safe!!
Great video! As many times as ive been in that area, not once have I drove "The Loop" until about 2yrs ago. And in a 2whl short wheelbase truck. Thank god for brand new tires. Of course i took the 4x4 route. Some of those turns were 180 degrees strait up. Somewhere along the route, I found myself coming down the wrong way. Yep, just as scary. But I made it or else i wouldnt be telling you this now. Lol!! Very scenic at the top for sure. Creede will always hold a special place in my heart until the day I die. Lots of history and great fishin!😎
I failed to mention, I think i was up there not long after this video was made. 4th of July weekend is when they have the big festival.
One of your best videos thank you
Another gem! Thanks…
Love your music. Lumineers!
Beautiful footage guys...Creed is definitely on my list!
We were there in August of last year, a month before you folks. Did the mine & the loop drive but stayed in South Fork, CO. Small world.
Headed to Colorado this summer will definitely put Creede on our list
Very Very cool, I should be there some time late this coming week or early next. Thank You!
We met Scott and Christina at a Taco restaurant in Casa Grande a few months ago! Great people!
It is amazing those are still standing with all the snows etc. for years... Do you know the story behind, "... going to hell in a hand basket"? Nice instrumentation in the music too. It too is wonderful how people naturally love the beauty in the Creation.
Hello from Ouray CO! Thank you for this awesome video! Creeds is really a great town to visit. Lots to see and do in the town….and a ton of national forest to explore.
Safe travels!
What a great little town - that’s my kind of place.
We love Creede! We are actually here right now 🙂
Absolutely beautiful! Thank you for taking us along 😀
Just found y'alls videos, love em. Watched about 6, enjoyed all of them. Had to subscribe so I wouldn't miss any.
Really enjoy your videos and your interaction together. Thank you for what your doing and keep up the great work.
Its funny you mentioned Bryce Canyon. We took a job at Bryce Canyon Hotel an camp Ground this year so we can go back to Alaska. We are Show me RV Adventures. Clayton&Denise
And here I thought Silverton Colorado was your favorite little town :) with them Funnel Cakes :) Senior Chief USN RET
Colorado is an absolutely gorgeous state. The colors are incredible. What time of year was this video taken?
Thanks we have been to Winter Park many times to ski, so it was great seeing places we have been but now we have to to Creede, we been to South Fork and stayed at Fun Valley and have great memories
That place is so cool. Thanks for sharing. I know I’ll never get to get locations like that or see something like that much better than Encyclopaedia Britannica when I was growing up.
Y’all drove past Chalk Creek Campground in Nathrop, CO where we are work camping!
Chad, Tara thanks for the memorial park shots. It means bunches for this old SeaBee.... How'd ya like to drive a big rig down into Granby, Silverton, Durango and Crede???? Yep I did that!! delivered many oversized machines, equipment to those little towns up in the hills!! Carry on hoss!!
Love your scenery videos and the history❤️
We're finally making it to Colorado next month for a wedding. Stopping along the way. Crede is going to have to be a stop on another trip sadly. But we can't wait to finally get rolling.
I love Creede, I use to back pack up there in the National Forest. Coming from Texas it's pretty cool to see where the Rio Grande begins.
That is way cool Would be cool to travel there
Loved this video
My home state, welcome. It's beautiful here.
Great video, thank you 😊.
Absolutely beautiful! Love seeing where the Momentum can go since we have the 2021. We hope to go to Alaska next year and this would be a great stop on the way!
Worked in Monte Vista at the Coors grainery on 3 separate trips in late fall. Awesome area. Aslo took the wife thru to Pagosa Springs. Toured around and ATV'ed further west, but not to Creede. Next time.
Looks like a really, really neat place, wish I was there, but I might be some day. Psssst, don't tell Tara there's probably bears up there. Keep the good stuff coming guys.
Looks like you can flip that bench back to the other side so you can sit in the opposite direction.
Just found out that there is another mineral County out there from this video I live in mineral County Montana and it also was a mining town you should check it out I know you guys love Montana.
Great episode and beautiful area!
We are headed out that way in a couple of weeks. I think I might have just found my first boondocking site. That looks outstanding and Creed looks like a definitely good place to stop as well.
Looks like a place to put on our list !
I love Creede! I'm really jealous you got to go in the fire station!! I love the museum. We were only able to do a very small part of the Bachelor Loop. We went in October and it started snowing on us and didn't want to be too far from town if it got really bad.
"I hear you like this @#$%^&*()" lol, fantastic!
Fantastic!
Colorado is wonderful! My home town state !
Beautiful area
I have been in many firehouses in my career. I have never been in or seen any firehouse like the one there in Creede.
Very interesting.
Nice road trip
Fun video. We are going to Creede in ten days. What kind of car seat does your puppy sit in up front?
How long did you stay in the Creede area? It’s always nice to know how much time is needed to take in all the sights!
Great video once again! You guys do an awesome job recording your travels.
Go Navy!
What a nice town
Thank you for sharing
What a beautiful place.

Awesome video Chad! Makes me miss Colorado. We're still in Florida waiting for fuel prices to drop...;-)
Thanks! But, I just showed up.. Tara makes the videos... 😉
Nice video.
The bench, was it built to switch sides? Could the back rotate to have the bench face the other way maybe?
15:50 Go Pack Go!
man Creede co looks heavenly to me.Pismo Paul
Chad, two for you and one for Tara if you are not driving! Just saying, looking out for my people!
What service do you use for finding music for your videos? Love your soundtrack selections for all your videos.
Thanks! Please see: changinglanesrv.com/faq/?Display_FAQ=2178
Great scenery, thanks! Any issues with having 3 axles, like side loading the tires? I have a 95 HR 37' 5th wheel and when I was pulling out from a spot when I looked at the tires and it looked like was going to pull a tire from the wheel. Could be grade of tire since yours is heavier and beefier tires. Trying to justify keeping my 5th wheel vs getting a toy hauler vs converting my 48' Featherlite gooseneck into a toy hauler. Being able to haul my Road Glide Limited and my 97 Land Cruiser tells me I need to convert the gooseneck. Or move the 5th wheel 100 miles and then go back and get the gooseneck. Haaaa, man that would be a pain.
Wtih three axles, there will always be some side-loading / drag. We just take it slow if we have to make sharp turns.
With regard to light check. I was told that if you turn on your emergency flashers and everything works then everything will work. Any comment on that?
Needing help setting up our walkie talkies. Where do I start?
That looked like a 2-way bench. Just push the back to the other side to sit in the opposite direction.
Edit: I just found your reply to another’s comment. 👍
What apps or websites do you use to your traveling purposes?
I think you might have talked about it in a previous video a year plus ago.
Thanks
Also have you camped at the bar harbor Maine campsite next to the ocean. That's on are list when we start traveling
yes.. see this video for our planning... but we don't use that GPS anymore. changinglanesrv.com/rv-trip-planning-and-gps/
