Buy DJI certified refurbished. Maybe not the best discount but you have peace of mind that it will work and can be activated.
Is there any information on where the refurbished drones come from? Are they returns or are they drones that were replaced with DJI care (they send the user a new drone and if it is worth doing they repair the drone and then sell it as refurbished)?

I bought a mini 3 pro from FB in Blackpool, i went from Bolton to pick it up, the bloke removed account from controller but not drone, luckily i had his phone number snd he went online to release the drone, so was very lucky there. Since then I've had hours of flight time with it no problems

I sold my Mini 1 this week, that isn't bound to an account - I couldn't see the option in the Fly app and contacted DJI to check, they confirmed the Mini 1 doesn't bind like the later models.
Just liking buying a used iPhone or iPad from someone, you have to make sure they logged out of their accounts. Good tip for some one looking to buy a used drone, and also for drone sellers to help them better prepare their drones for sale. Thanks for sharing.

When I was selling my Mini 2, I was surprised to find that the total flight hours are not stored on the drone. I think it would be nice for buyers to know the total hrs a unit has been operated. My drone (via the app and my account) showed way too few hrs because I typically flew using 3rd party apps, and because of that the hrs were not tracked.
I buy and sell a lot of used DJI drones... Don't forget to check the gimbal movement idk how many times the gimbal jitters or doesn't move correctly. Also just the joysticks. I've seen them that don't react accurately, I've even seen one where the joystick was wobbly.

I had these issues when i bought my Mini 3 second hand, after nearly 2 weeks going back and forth with the seller i finally got it unbound from his account, as you say many people don't realise this when they sell their DJI drones.
Bought a Mavic 3 and the previous owner was still logged in but luckily i just tapped log out without having to enter any password and was able to log into my account 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👌🏽😅. Funny thing is it came from Best Buy for $1100 with the RC with built in screen which was a steal!!!!! 😳 I ordered that thing asap and when it arrived i couldn't believe i found such a deal. No scrathes and thing flies amazing!

I bought two refurbished drones. One from Amazon and the other from Best Buy. Best Buy I got the Mavic 3 pro fly more kit for $2100 USD. The drone didn’t even have 2 miles on it. I now have DJI care refresh.
I had a problem with used drone which was not deactivated. I contacted dji, that was quite a headache. Though it was resoved
Just bought mini 4 pro used from eBay store seller that listed unbound. When I received it yesterday, it say already bound to another account. Was activated 65days ago and now I have to wait until next week when they are back to work to reply back. DJI cannot do anything

Had an email from UAS General ref my easa registration for flying in the EU.
This basically states that as from 2025 ALL drones must have remote ID.
I fly a 1 year old mini 3 pro
The EASA video suggested an after market remote transmitter, but will this not take the drone over 250g.
Should I consider a mini 4 as I intend to fly when on holiday

What if i only erase all the data on the rc1 controller will it log out my account i just sold my drone yesterday (i just unbinded my acc on the dji fly app does this also work?)
When i try the 1st sequence it does not show the phrase REMOVE DEVICE FROM ACCOUNT Does this mean i do not have to do this and just do the remote LOG OUT part ?

I remove all my drones from linked account as soon as warranty is past , ok if stolen anyone can use it , but saves any hassles later on down the line , I might be run over by a bus next week and my spouse wont be able to sell the stuff if it is all still locked 🤣
Made the mistake of attempting to buy a mini 3 pro on Facebook marketplace Not a cheap deal so thought should be ok. Should have known when they asked first a PayPal payment to a different name - his ‘mate’. Luckily only sent £100 as a test but they disappeared as did my money. Lesson learned. So I agree - use Dji refurb or at least no money unless you get to look at the product.
The big problem occurs when the drone is not only connected but a replacement device for this drone has already been sent to the original owner via Care Refresh. In such a case, the previous owner can no longer log out. The device belongs to DJI. They can recognize it based on the serial number and will not just unlock it. Different if no Care Refresh has been completed. Here you have a much better chance of DJI breaking the connection if you can provide proof of purchase (Ebay, Amazon). Those who don't pay attention to the email from DJI (can't find it?) are often fully aware of what has happened and, with fraudulent intent, deliberately no longer contact you....
How about DJI Care? Does the next person can still keep it if I do this in the video or is it linked to my account with that drone?
DJI Care is linked to the drone not to the owners account. I just bought a refurbished Air 3 fly more from Best Buy. I checked the serial number for DJI Care and to my surprise it had a 2 year agreement. FYI the Air 3 was in excellent condition just like new. 👍🏽
it's called a "bound" drone. I just bought a drone and did this exact thing, Original owner had deleted his DJI account too... fun times c:
Btw I bought a used mini 3 ended up returning it because it was locked and I contacted dji and it was a NIGHTMARE they want a much of info from the last owner it’s honestly ridiculous

It's great that you have made a short and simple video on this, anyone buying a used drone on ebay can just send this video to the seller and ask that they can make sure this has been done.
Some of the prices used drones sell for on ebay are ridiculous though. I saw a mini 4 fly more combo sell with 18 months DJI care sell for £900, you can buy it brand new for £980 minus the DJI care. I have seen mini 4s sell for £800 - 900 even without much or any DJI care on them. The good thing is that it means when I get mine and I want to sell it I can get most of my money back.
