    Very nice quick test. I’ve never trusted the gorilla brand before as I used their polyurethane glue when I built a pack saddle for mule to haul salt licks and hay and it failed only after 4 months. I did a few tests and found UV to be the biggest culprit but even on the samples not exposed they failed within 6 months. The glue turned crystalline. I rebuilt the pack saddle with epoxy and is still together but not used in 25 years. All wood was quarter sawed white oak.
    I will now try their wood glue. I’ve been using TB for 30+ years.
    Thanks for the video. Look forward to your next video.

      I never liked polyurethane glue though, now I am removing it from my shelf, thx for sharing your experience 🤝

    I also use this glue exclusively, for all projects from shaker doors to worktops, on all wood types oily olive wood, oak, beech softwood with all it performs excellently

      Thank you for sharing your own experience, it will be awful to use glue on a project that you have spent hours and hours to finish then you encounter such a nasty surprise. I hope this will help other woodworkers too.

    To clarify none of the 'waterproof' glues are intended for complete immersion, or sustained continuous water, and they say so on the label.
    More like for holding up to rain for outdoor furniture.

    hey would you consider the gorilla glue for fixing a broken guitar neck? إيه أحسن نوع موجود في مصر لتصليح اللات الموسيقية هل hide glue? اسمه إيه في مصر

    • @TheWoodCrafter1
      @TheWoodCrafter1  Před 2 lety +1

      Hide glue is recommended for musical instruments as you can loosen it with some water and heat gun! If this is not a concern then you can use a normal wood glue.
      I am not aware of the Egyptian market, but you can still order it from Amazon.

    It says right on the ultimate to get the wood surface damp before you glue! I use a spray bottle, mist it and let it sit for a few minutes before I glue!

    Supposedly, the Titebond brand of wood glue is the best. They have by far the most documented research and testing. They have 3 types of glue: Titebond regular for use on interior wood projects, Titebond II water resistant for use on interior/Exterior projects, and Titebond III water proof which resists exposure to water for sustained periods of time. I think Titebond III would perform better than Gorilla Glue Ultimate in the water test you did although I am not sure any of the glues can hold up to soaking in water for 24 hours.

      What’s written on the ultimate gorilla glue is waterproof! A waterproof epoxy can stand a 24 hours test I guess! Maybe it is water resistant but not proof, also when dry tested it also failed compared with their normal wood glue. Honestly I wasn’t expecting that, and I have bought 2 bottles 🤔

      As long as it is not wet all the time and the weight is not heavy then it should be fine.
