Banks Power Derringer Diesel Tuner + Intake + Exhaust on the Lifted Duramax - GMC Denali Ep. 1

- We're taking on a bit of a different project than we normally do this week. We're not working on a classic muscle car, an old squarebody or our Tesla swapped truck. We're doing some much needed upgrades on our shop's project hauler, the late model GMC Duramax Denali. We got a ton of parts from Banks power that we're installing, including a cold air intake with a filter the size of Mikey's head, the Derringer tuner, as well as a new 5" exhaust and new differential cover. With the lift and large tires, we're looking for some more throttle response and torque for this diesel to help us pull some of the heavier cars we take to shows; and we're hoping this Banks set up will help us out with that! We do a few baseline tests to see how this truck performs before installing our upgrades, do the super simple install of all of our new parts, and take it on a test drive to see if we can tell a noticeable difference in the 2500HD. With just the intake and exhaust we shave over a second and a half off of our 0-60 time; and adding the tuner to the mix, we pulled almost two and a half seconds from our 0-60 compared to how it was stock. We're super stoked with the response this truck had from the upgrades and think this will really help when hauling all of the heavy classic cars around Florida and across the country!

Glad you're enjoying the equipment, Mike. Combined, Derringer, Ram-Air Intake, and 5" Monster Exhaust add 98hp! FYI: During street testing, you were adjusting only the PedalMonster throttle booster and not the Derringer tuner. You had the Derringer set to Level 6 the entire time. We have to make a note next time not to throw out the instructions after the install! lol We'll have to give the testing another go when we have a trailer hooked up and heading out to a show!
The only reason I came to the comment section was to say the same thing Banks said. Only thing my 2021 GMC Sierra 3500 is missing is the diff cover and intake. I can’t wait to finish my banks powered truck.

Crazy how much of a difference a few bolt on parts can make in those diesel trucks! Should definitely help with hauling as well. Some very choice additions to an already badass looking truck! 👍👍

What you need is a TC lockup switch...lock it soon as you are in second, locks up the TC goes into overdrive than it's 1:1 ratio
Tow/haul mode will do that
If I ever get a diesel banks would be the route I'd go. I don't know anyone who's ever had an issue with any of their products that they didn't do anything possible to help fix

The pedal monster doesn’t change anything other than throttle sensitivity. You have to change the derringer setting.

I've been wanting to do the same thing to my '04 F-350 I've got the intake and exhaust done but I NEED that tuner and dif cover! I watched a video by Banks on how much better the gear oil flows with their cover. I won't be able to go full track bc I'd blow my shitty stretch ass head studs but I think ole girl could handle city on full😂👌 Love the content!!!

Yeah, that was the first thing I thought when I saw that B-pillar cover. How's the old man gonna get up in the truck? I need mine and I don't even have a lifted truck.

Diesel tuners have gone underground or moved out of the US because of the EPA crackdown. At least tuners that are worth a damn.
What did this do to fuel economy? Did it improve towing capabilities?

It's a bit early to say. Like any time you tune something or do an upgrade, you tend to be a little heavier on the pedal. But once the fun of having something new in the truck wears off, we'll be able to see if there's a real MPG performance difference.
What did it do to your fuel mileage? I have a bone stock 2017 and I’m looking at doing pretty much everything you did minus the lift and tires ( that size). Sick build all around
