  • Heavy metal and Satan played a role in the introduction of the explicit lyrics sticker.

The explicit lyrics sticker is one of the most recognizable images in American music. Its placement on an album cover signifies you’re going to hear something for adult ears only, and it’s an image we often take for granted. The story behind how we got that sticker is bonkers, to say the least.
The very public discussion around the advisory label involved the Parents Music Resource Center (PMRC), a group led by the wives of Washington politicians and a few musicians including Frank Zappa, Dee Snider, and John Denver.
While the PMRC’s involvement was allegedly sparked by some raunchy lyrics from Prince’s 1984 album Purple Rain, the debate over rock lyrics had been infiltrating American culture and politics for a decade. The driving force behind that debate was the rise of heavy metal, a genre that saw explosive popularity with the launch of MTV in 1981, and the growing influence of the religious right, who saw rock music as a powerful threat to Christianity.

These are the kids who line up to fill auditoriums and see Ben Shapiro or Jordan Peterson. This is why people are so divided and hyper polarized, people no longer gather for the mutual enjoyment of rocking out at a concert. They instead prefer to watch bigoted nerds revise history and misinterpret events in order to inculcate them into Conservative politics. I prescribe a return of the underground rave and for the music industry to return to where Grunge left off, or De La Soul, depending on your musical preference. .

That mother is Tipper Gore, Al Gores ex wife. As an older mellenial I remember she went after any type of media that scared her sheltered christian world view in the 80's and 90's. She basically hijacked her husband's political power for her religious crusades against music, TV, movies and video games. She's one of the biggest reasons why a lot of people voted Bush over Gore in '00, after seeing what she tried to do before and while she was the 2nd lady.
Gore once made a joke that after their divorce he finally watched Terminator 2(or it was another classic) and really liked it. They got divorced in 2010.

Kids, especially teens, always find a way to rebel against their parents in some way. If you tell something is wrong, or in this case, not listen to certain type of music because it could be potentially harmful, of course they are going to do it.

I myself am a Southern Baptist, but I come from a relatively diverse church with Korean, Vietnamese, and Spanish services and a pastor from Ghana. I've been a devout Christian ever since I was old enough to understand the idea of going to heaven, and it's depressing to see so many of my fellow Christians have such shallow, artificial faith; for example, all these Southern Baptists turning out in 2016 to vote for a candidate who ran a fear- and hatemongering campaign. A plant is identified by its fruit, and these "evangelists" aren't evangelizing, they're turning people away.
