When creating a fractal, we start with a large shape, a triangle say, with the interior open. We then fill the interior with copies of the original triangle, and then fill each inner triangle with still smaller triangles, ad infinitum. The universe works the same way. It starts with a hole -- Nothing! It then fills the hole with smaller holes, thus creating Something! The filling conforms to the shape of the hole it fills. Finally, after about 4 billion iterations, we reach the hole or niche that the modern man or woman is designed to fill. This is why everything "aligns just right" for us to exist. The glove and the hand define each other.
Pi, pi, everywhere, but not a slice to eat! Pi exists in every possible universe and every possible time: We're truly stuck with it! What we don't realize is that a human being exists in just the same way. This is the meaning hidden in the word "being". The essence of a human being is a very long DNA sequence, which can be translated into a very long number, and this number exists everywhere and exists forever. So whether or not I am immortal and ubiquitous depends on whether or not I identify with my essence. Neat! Asking about the essence of a human being is like asking about the essence of a book. Is a book the paper, the ink, and the binding? Or is it the story the book contains? When a book is published, we have thousands of copies. Unfortunately, the copies are unable to communicate with one another. Similarly, a human being may have thousands of copies spread across the universe.
I don't necessarily believe it but I think it's a fun thought experiment: If one assumes the possibility of the view that QM allows "parallel universes" then one interesting thing that happens is in theory all constants and all parameters have been fiddled across all space/time. There are an infinite amount of universes with all combinations of these constants (and really what leads to these constants) having been tried. And who knows what those multiverses turned out like... maybe much like ours? Maybe not? You get to questions like... if PI happened to be a different number AT ALL, does that mean no life could ever form? Are there universes where PI is like 1e-9999% different from our value of PI and it still leads to life or is it impossible to have life if PI changes at all?
We can calculate the value of things like π and 42, but not 1/137 - must be better versions of Physics yet to come where some of these parameters are calculated - because there are an embarrassingly large number of things to twiddle. Nice forest.
i'd argue that we technically can calculate 1/137 - we can do calculations w/ that number just fine! there's not any mathematical difference between fractions and decimals. we technically *could* write out the decimal value of 1/137 it would just take longer than the universe 😜

I thought the video is about physical contacts 😄
Aren’t miracles grand! 😊
