people who comment about painting the car instead of the wrap..is annoying. period.
Love the videos man. I'll watch whatever the hell your building tou hands down have helped me every time I have a question on an older honda. Static video always come in clutch
I know , how many times have we seen you paint a car 🤦🏻♂️ not only is this new content for us but its also something new for you to learn well! Good job bro!👊🏼
You also asked for feedback on the wrap and you’re getting it so not sure why this comment is here. I’ve noticed for a while now you ask for feedback and when you get it you get offended by the feedback.
@@ChamakitoEl787there's a difference between feedback and just plain whining
@@ChamakitoEl787 bro what don't you get!?? Hes wrapping it , how can you say learning how to wrap cars is a needless skill?? The wrapping industry is huge especially in commercial, its annoying because he's asking for feed back on wrapping! HE'S NOT PAINTING IT! HES WRAPPING IT! IF YOU KNOW DANA SO WELL ,THEN YOU KNOW HE'S NOT GONNA GIVE UP....😤
Yo Static, dont be too hard on yourself man, what you show is your real process and we all (most of us) respect the hell out of you for it. Trying news skills out is hard enough especially when your recording it and there are so many "experts" telling you how easy it is.
Keep up what you're doing and im sure youll get better at it.
Great videos dude, thanks for all the entertainment, tips and tricks over the years
Its only your first one, you learn as you go and it always gets easier. Dry weave CF is so much more easier to work with and more forgiving. Highly recommend doing the hood with it. BTW that catch can absolute fire!
It is better to have tried and failed than to have never tried at all. Keep up the good work bro. I love the build.
Dude you definitely are my generation with them strap on shoes from walmart. I remember guys from high school rocking those in 2000s! Thanks for bring me back!!!
One man job ain’t easy on wraps…live and learn you doing great. 🇳🇿
I would just paint the car, it will probably be cheaper and will for sure last a lot longer than a wrap. Keep pushing man, loving the progress.
You do a freaking mean az job. It looks badass in my eyes and i work on / mod cars every day. I know how being your own worst critic goes. Maximum love from New Zealand to you man. Keep going.
Hey static just a quick tip. When you’re done with each panel post heat the shit out of it. What that will do is make the vinyl adhere a lot better and you can push out any bubbles that pop up. Don’t be afraid to really get on it with the heat gun the vinyl will not burn once on the surface. If you don’t post heat bubbles and defects will appear when just sitting out in the sun since summer is coming up. Good luck.
i dont always comment but i want you to know i love your videos!! i watch every one and am always waitin for the next one, started watching you back in 2015 when i got my first civic. keep up the hard work bro and keep doin what u love!!
Maybe do carbon fiber wrap on the hood and trunk and gloss black for the roof to save some of the blue wrap for the other panels. Keep it 100 guchi tatters!!!!
Great idea
Great idea!
CF vinyl is so much more forgiving and easier to work with. You can literally crumple up a piece and use heat to straighten it all out.
Dana. I'm late! I moved so I've been off CZcams for a bit. It's kind of nice to have stacked videos lol. But keep up the good work. You don't learn unless you fail. I've wrapped a handful of hoods and that's about it. And they can be tricky as I'm short too. But the body lines you have.. good job. Let's the haters hate. You've done many amazing paint jobs before so it's good to learn something new. I know you won't see this but enjoy everything you do and have for the last 5 years.
Hell yea I knew you would get it!! I was really hoping that you wouldn’t give up! You’ll have it down like Paradox The Wrapper by the time you do the hood!💯🔥
After that nap came back like a pro lol 😂CZcams certified 😂😂❤❤❤
It looks good to me bro it's your first time seeeeend it!!!!!
I enjoyed the time lapse. Lots of tedious work. Much respect
I’m just happy to see you try something new. 😅
the wrap makes it look more fresh…❤❤❤
Dude iv watch a tun of wrapping videos, and the way youv filmed and talked about how you did stuff. Helps its like were learning with you. I appreciate what your doing man, keep it up!
Mistakes are just how you have to learn, no bodies perfect first time but I think those came out dope!
Do your thing big dog i think your doing great enjoy watching learning etc its a journey your journey your real fans and supporters always gonna be with you wrap paint whatever you make great content and you have real knowledge and skill 💯👍💪
Thank you for sharing how hard it is to wrap cars! Holy cow, kuddos for learning a new skill!
Long time fan, love your content. I also vinyl wrapped my car after body work. Vvivid vinyl plus. I did have issues where the vinyl would lift pieces of primer when I would go and make adjustments. I did my whole car, except my bumpers. I waited over a year to attempt my bumpers. Tore my vinyl when I was pulling on it. It surprised me, because the material used to be very pliable. I noticed the tack and stretch wasn't the same as it used to be. Your vinyl might be older. Watching your video now, and you're getting it done. You got this static 🫡
You're doing great for a first time don't be so rude to yourself, it's cool you're trying something new
I am inspired!!!🤣...👍🏽 Never thought about wrapping my EJ until seeing this, but vinyl is expensive for what it is.
IMHO, painting is less stressful. I learned from working at body shop in the 90s the car must be on its four wheels in order to get all the panel line / gaps correct. Doing that while on stands will not work once the car is on the ground on wheels.
And the thing with not enough vinyl.. just go with a carbon fiber vinyl wrap for the hood and roof..
Found the wrap in The Netherlands for you, here i can order it in all sized starting from 1 meter (it's 1,52m wide)
Maybe i can help you out from here?
Love it you didn't give up im like you i go to sleep and i come up with ideas how to fix things or make is Easier ....🤟🤟🤟🤟🤟
Get one or two people to help you hold the wrap while you work on the big areas like the hood and roof maybe it will help get less wrinkles and like you said go even as you go from side to side, but it looks good cant wait to see it all one color🔥💯
Idk if someone has already said it but i think is easier to get the bubbles out of the wrap if you apply some soapy watter before, anyway i freaking love your videos dude keep the good work and energy
You've done pretty well so far. I tried last summer with some Vivid wrap. Had nothing but glue lines. No matter what I did. Huge glue lines, wasted a whole roll of 60' on the driver side.
My biggest piece of advice from what I learned. Get more sets of hands for prestretching bigger pieces to limit the amount of initial wrinkles. To help with working yourself into corners, you want to have a starting line to work from. So mid starting line and working up and down from that spot following that initial line.
Obviously your method is working for you as someone with no experience with it, so do what works for you at the end of the day. The color looks great and so far your application has been way more successful than mine. If I could go back in time, the tips I mentioned would be something I would do myself and potentially solve my issues.
Definitely not an easy task but it’s going to look fire when it’s done. Keep up the good work
I don’t care what no one says brother learning something new is never failing and you did damn good with the pieces that you put on
Fender came out pretty decent second time around!
Make sure you “glass” the vinyl down first before using squeegee it’ll make the process a lot easier and cleaner
LOOKS REALLY GOOD
well paint the roof, hood.trunk same color as you did the enginebay for the time if you find the rest off the vinyl down the road it got atleast some paint under it
Yessssir! Unlocking a new skill I see! 💯 I'm excited to see this new skill get better down the road because when you do, i know I'll be learning something good from your videos.
Yoo for some vinyl suggestions while everyone say carbon..why not Kevlar type look. 😅 who knows..
My favorite shoes from Walmart everybody back in Hawaii uses it for breakdancing
Gonna look so sick
I think you did a really good job. I personally have no experience with wrap either. Stuff is a bit too expensive for quality material.
Good progress, looks dope....
I’ve seen a lot of people wear those slick gloves to wrap it makes it easier to slide your hand and guide it. Based off what I’ve seen don’t quote me on that
looking good brudda.!
Bro that 3M is a monster to work with on your first go. I did my charger with the same wrap in black and it also broke and split. It is VERY sensitive to temps and needs to be handled with care. I did 80% with the 3M and ran out with all my mistakes. The Vivid black wrap was MUCH more forgiving!
Get a carbon wrap for roof, trunk, and hood. Possibly even fenders
WRAPPING LIKE A PRO
Paint job time fam😂 the engine bay is 🍒🤙
Good ish my man, take ur time. U eventually got it lookin Gucci taters, that’s all that matters. Shhhhiii well watch u wrap it 10 times if we gotta haha
Those sticky lines happen when you lay the wrap then heart it up and peel it back. The glue actually moves because its hot causing that blob once it cools.
Yo bro for your first time you are doing amazing job
Driver side front fender is short. But you can stretch that vinyl up to 30%. You can take the 30% at 1/3 from back and center of vinyls. And some at the front tip.
Vinyl shrinks back after streching, it used to have a mechanical grip on the edges but can still shrink amd lift. Its best to try and use the heat gun as little as possible.
@@samuelfoote9135 it will shrink back if you don't remove the memory. This is why I told him to take the stretch from sections and just at the tip. Because all your ur doing is over stretching it.
The wrap might be alil old, but you have to lay it all down first and make sure you glass it and then run your finger on a body line to keep it from moving, and start using the squeegee and heatgun. Glassing it keeps it from giving you all them wrinkles and it’s easier for it to stick
Let's go static my boy
Do the roof and hood in a carbon wrap and then you'll have enough for the trunk and fender
Or black on the roof and hood
Glass out your panels. This will get rid of most of your issues. Youre gonna want to peel half of the liner, then lay the wrap down with magnets then peel the rest. then glass the panel. Use the magnets for insurance (2nd pair of hands)
Juuuuu sHuuud pAiNt tH3 cAr ese!
Sheeeesh looks good to me send it!!!!!!
I always caulk the gutters or window trim after paint use black sikaflex polyurethane and tape off iam local from the hood if u need help👍👍👊
That is the same reason I won't apply tint. My OCD won't let me be happy with me doing tinted windows. Good luck Dana.
PAINTS THE WAY TO GO. you gave vinyl wrap a go . You got to experience wrap at least...... 😊. You wouldn't do wrap again In future ? 🤔
Just some advice for you brother. When you are wrapping you need to work on a “glassing technique” it will save you so much time and you will have way less wrinkles. I would also highly recommend using 70% isopropyl alcohol on the panel before wrapping to insure adherence. If you haven’t already watch some of CK wraps videos on CZcams. He will walk you through literally everything. I have wrapped my own car using his techniques and it came out great. Awesome staying with it brother. I wish I was local so I could come help you out.
Let's goo!!!
I'd be tempted to do a carbon fiber wrap on the hood, roof, and trunk lid if I were in your situation.
Gloss ice blue is carried by Instawraps in Ontario, Canada but it is out of stock atm
Walmart shoes caught me off guard hahaha
How old is the roll of wrap that you have? Maybe over time if it sits too long it might become less plyable? I just started wrapping my del sol (1st time ever wrapping anything) with 3M 2080 flame red and that stuff stretches forever. Then again, its a brand new roll. Just food for thought.
Do the roof black!!!
Its not you, its that vinyl is fighting you itself. Its cheap and doesn't have air release as tears too easy. I will say put the heat gun down until the very end after trimming to tighten edges only. Also work from the center out.
I say just do ur magic and paint it man.
Carbón the hood and the rufff
I wonder if the plastics in the vinyl degrade over time, or if the wrap subjected to heat and cold cycles while in storage can cause it to be more fragile and easier to tear?
maybe do black across the top and use other pieces on the sides
yeeee
A hair dryer might be better for stretching since heat guns run 1,000 plus degrees
Wrap up the car bra finish it you might love it I am already loving it less job than painting
My dude got skateboard holes in his kicks!
Great Content as always, if you don't have enough wrap for hood, roof and trunk why not do it BLACK ik blue is nice but try two tone the car🤔
Reminds me of Suzuka blue
Hay Vinyl wrap pros give him a shout-out help.
Rock a black or carbon wrap hood and roof??
Dude, I'm the same with clothes and shoes. Literally they have to fall apart for me to stop wearing them, I ruin everything with working on cars and bikes lol
Try a gloss black bonnet and roof as it's relatively cheap and common. You may be able to contact a local wrapper and but some from them 👍
Use knife less tape on the roof, it is a life saver.
Bro less heat more water 🤙
Go-Go;BRO
Hey bro i have mint co dition 89 crx complete tail lights for sale even the loght for the hatch. And mirrors.
I also have a 89 integra gauge cluster for a manula car for sale as well.
You did very good job bro what was up
👍🏻
Haven’t seen the cats in vids in awhile, got to wondering about’m
If I was you I would call all these companies and see if they have any left over off of a role that they would sell you it wouldn't hurt to check
Ask paradox the wrapper for some advice and help
Wrap gloss black on the roof
Paradoxthewrapper collab
Yo Dana, Fiber roof and bonnet.... maybe trunk?? Think it would go hard!
Na OG wrap is temporary you might get 3 years out of it stop playing and paint the car lol. Look up post heating, tuck and cut ,wrap glove ,glassing and always chase the wrinkles away from the panels, 10 % stretch the triangle technique, Justin Pate wrap institute
Me personally I hate wrap. The lifespan is short if vehicle is outside all the time and if covered, can maybe get another year or 2 on top of the possible 3 in the normal elements. Paint 100%
The time spent prepping and getting everything ready for the wrap could've been spent on painting it since its going the same color its just a re spray. Youre not looking for a $5k paint job so it doesnt have to be so extensive but ive learned that to only wrap something if its in carbon fiber vinyl for aesthetics only.
He would have had to prep it for paint too!🤦🏻♂️ he's painted plenty of cars , he's trying/ learning something new.
@@gb361TX I’ve been watching Dana since he was converting cars RHD I know he paints cars. I also have him on Facebook since then too. That’s why it’s kind of dumb for someone with his skills. That wrap won’t last longer than 5 years at best without flaws. It would’ve been cheaper and easier to paint it the original color. I get it’s a new skill but not really a necessary skill. Towards the end of the video he pointed out issues with the wrap which happens but my point is it just wasn’t worth it and to pay $1.2k for another roll of wrap is ridiculous imho with the budget this car has.
Dude... black vinyl down the center of the car, hood, roof and truck
you should hit up paradox wrap for a collab.
Holy $#!+ meow meow eatin good
