  • Same goes for BT200X, CT200U, CT200U-EXR, CT200U.. (and Maybe Trailmaster MB200-2, not sure yet, will update!)
    I need to put a reminder on here, these sharper pointier foot pegs are probably more dangerous if you crash! Always wear boots, jeans, a long sleeved shirt and gloves, and a helmet while riding!

    Regarding stainless magnetism:
    There's a lot of different types of stainless steel and some are magnetic and some aren't. I wasn't using it as a test to see whether or not it was stainless though, just curious. Those black ones are cast "aluminum" (probably pot metal) and falsely advertised as stainless steel. The ones I used are stainless of some sort, maybe not 409 or 304. It's Chinese cast "stainless" which you saw had a very little bit of magnetism but were more than twice the weight of the falsely advertised black aluminum ones.
    It's not 304 stainless like on a nice car muffler that isn't magnetic. But 409 stainless is magnetic, I just installed a cat-back exhaust on my car made out of that and it is magnetic and also stainless steel..
    help.summitracing.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/3932/~/what-is-the-difference-between-304-and-409-stainless-steel%3F
    "409 stainless steel can be almost 90% iron. This means a magnet will stick to it. It will also develop surface rust over time, especially after being exposed to heat"
    "304 stainless steel has a much lower concentration of iron. A magnet will not stick to it. It will also develop a golden color over time, after being exposed to heat.
    "Welded or bent areas of 304 stainless steel could be magnetic. If you do check it with a magnet, check a straight section that has not been welded."
    "All stainless steel contains chromium and other elements. The added elements make the metal harder, stronger, and resist corrosion. The 2 main types of stainless steel used for exhaust parts are 304 and 409."
    "The difference between the types of stainless steel is the amount of chromium and nickel found in each. 304 stainless steel contains a much higher percentage of chromium and nickel. This makes it much more resistant to rust. 409 stainless steel is still more rust-resistant than Aluminized Steel. However, neither type of metal is 100% rust-proof."

      That's awesome! Aren't they great? Hey something I forgot to mention.. They will do more damage to you in a crash than stock ones, so I'd always were boots and jeans if you run these types of pegs. These aren't too sharp but probably worse than the stock ones. Just something to think about.

Those Stainless Steel ones look a lot better! And by the way stainless steel isn't suppose to be magnetic, but it can be if it is cheap and lower quality.

      TrailWayMarc LOL yeah I’m sure it’s low quality 😆 But for these mini bikes it’s ok. Those Krator ones work great on the TW200. Sometimes they go out of stock for a long time. Right now they are only about $17!

  • @whereswaldo5740
    @whereswaldo5740 Před 7 měsíci

    Those black “plastic” foot pegs are new wonder material called aluminum.
    That being said.
    I really didn’t have a problem with the factory pegs. Actually was surprised they weren’t more slippery than they were. Wanted the red anodized as I saw them in a video and thought the looked sharp. Have after market pegs in my KLR so thought I’d give em a try.
    Cheaper out and got the black aluminum like in this video. Did not drill out the bike. Reused original pins. That way I can replace original pegs should the break.
    That being said. Yes they are grippier. The return spring is nice. But … they are shorter and have less surface. Not sure I like em.
    But those Stainless steel ones look longer.
    Just my two. Ride on.

    • @bwxmoto
      @bwxmoto  Před 7 měsíci

      More like chinesium pot metal. I'd eat my hat if it's pure aluminum, probably a lot of zinc and other dirt and garbage scraped up off the floor and thrown in there. Seller listed them as stainless steel. 😆

    • @bwxmoto
      @bwxmoto  Před 4 lety +4

      I would but I've never had to do that. I think most people just cut it or drill it out. I would actually drill it out and use the threads to put in another one and use that if a new rider or child wanted to learn to ride it. On all mine I have Predator motors with throttle screw in tact. On the one that is the original engine, I don't think the throttle screw is welded, they only did that starting in 2019 or something like that. But yeah I'd just get a hack saw and cut it or drill it out with a drill if you want to remove it quickly.

    Love the shop. Great review. Need to replace some on my minis, but why would you even drive in weeds like that in the first place? Dude. Never had my foot pegs pop up. Going in my amazon cart. And subbed your channel. 3/4 plywood would work good for seat riser and cut to follow seat form.

      @johnbass7551 Před 4 lety +1

      Well even at 6'2" I didnt think of a seat riser (so used to the shorter mini's I was happy the seat is as good as it is), now Im intrigued. Think I even have some 1" rough cut somewhere.

      @bwxmoto  Před 4 lety

      John Bass Yeah I mean if you’re just cruising around on easy terrain I don’t think you need it really. But if you start trying to climb some really steep stuff it does help quite a bit to be a little bit higher up. Especially since that seat kind of makes you feel like you’re falling off the back sometimes if your front wheels in the air or something like that! LOL

But I'd just get the cheapest one that is the correct size from a seller that looks legit on Amazon. Sometimes ebay has them a few bucks cheaper.

    How'd you get your money back yet you still have em?

    • @bwxmoto
      @bwxmoto  Před 2 lety +1

      I told them I'd send them back and Amazon said just keep them. They were more expensive than the identical ones being correctly advertised as aluminum at the time. So it was false advertising. They are definitely not steel (those black ones), probably not even aluminum, probably cast "pot metal" which is total garbage.
      Not even sure I'd use them as a spare, I think they might break and leave jagged edges, could cut your leg up if not wearing high boots if you break them riding. They feel lighter weight than even solid aluminum would.

    Magnet don’t stick to stainless steel

    • @bwxmoto
      @bwxmoto  Před 2 lety

      Actually it depends. There's a lot of different types of stainless steel and some are magnetic and some aren't. I wasn't using it as a test to see whether or not it was stainless though, just curious. Those black ones are cast aluminum and falsely advertised as stainless steel.
But 409 stainless is magnetic, I just installed a cat-back exhaust on my car made out of that and it was magnetic and also stainless steel.
      help.summitracing.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/3932/~/what-is-the-difference-between-304-and-409-stainless-steel%3F

    • @bwxmoto
      @bwxmoto  Před 4 lety

      They flip up - I don't see how they would bend the frame. These would also break before the frame I think, they are cast steel which is much weaker than forged or even steel tubing which frame is made from.
