      @trpremote I was thinking the same thing lol. 400hp with no intercooler, gen3 blower, and by the looks of it a 3.4 pulley. He obviously forgot to show us the 150shot of nitrous.

    That supercharged 3800 is a blast. All the reliability of the bulletproof 3800 that GM made for a long time. With the power of a eaton m90 blower on top of it. Such a cool car. Even 21 years later it's amazing to see one in such great shape. The 1997 to 2003 Grand prixs used to be everywhere but as a kid I always looked for the GTP badge on the door.

    • @bwofficial1776
      @bwofficial1776 Před 11 měsíci +3

      @@bwofficial1776 I did a look on autotrader, there aren't many for sale and the ones in good shape are about $10,000 now. I remember a time when you could buy these cars in good shape for $5,000 with less than 100k miles. I don't think you can even find them like that today .

    I think it's a great looking car for the era! I still remember the late 90's Pontiac commercials where they touted the Grand Prix's "Wide-Track" design echoing heritage ads from the 1960's. I had a 2002 GTP for 3 or 4 years and it was fun and reliable. A good value, for sure. I miss that car and wish I hadn't sold it. Wouldn't be surprised at all to see it on the road today.

    That gray early-00s GM switchgear is oddly comforting. The supercharged 3800 was a sleeper engine and is easy to tune. This car is clean. It seems that Pontiacs turn into beaters especially fast so to see one running, let alone one that's in good shape is rare.
    Early 2000s Pontiacs all kind of look and sound the same. It's hard to tell the difference between a Grand Prix, a Grand Am, and a Bonneville. The ribbed taillights and curved sides are distinctly Pontiac. The one with four reverse lights always fascinated me.

      It's extremely easy for me to recognize the differences between early 00's Pontiac sedans, especially since the Bonneville has an very pronounced wedge shape and an extremely distinctive tail light cluster with amber turn signals, the only Pontiac with them at the time.

    Are you sure this thing is making 400 hp? Does the owner have a build sheet? That sounded very tame for 400 hp. Most exhaust, smaller pulley, and a tune 3800's don't even crack 300 crank hp, much less 300 whp. Most M90 builds need E85 and/or rockers to be over 300 whp.

    Desmogged L67 supercharged 3800, tuned, larger injectors and E85 fuel with a smaller boost pulley for more boost. Thats going through a T5 trans.
    I’m shooting for a sub 2000 pound weight, but I’ll be happy even if it’s 2300.

    I bought an '04 in 2016 out of desperation, because my Monte Carlo was totaled, and needed a car asap. It had about110,000 miles on it. I bought it because it was the only one on the car lot that didn't look like a mutation. I didn't qualify for a car loan, so I put it on a credit card. Not many places will take a credit card, because THEY want the interest money. Unfortunately, whoever had the car before me didn't perform oil changes, as there was a large amount of sludge in the oil pan when I had a remanufactured engine installed last year (2022). They also poured green anti-freeze in with the Dexcool. In the last year, I've replaced nearly every other component under the hood. I even had to replace the steering rack. It now has 238,000 miles on the car, but the engine and the other parts are only a little over a year old. I had to declare bankruptcy shortly after I purchased the vehicle, so I got it next to nothing. In spite of having to replace all of that, I'm glad I bought it. The 3800 engine is extremely reliable, as long as you change the oil regularly. I'm looking forward to keeping this car for the next decade or longer: hopefully I'll drive it into retirement. If I was making more money, I'd still probably own one of these. I still like it better than the new cars that I've rented while I had this one repaired.

    I am not sold on this car being 400hp. I don't see an intercooler, there was no mention of e85, it is on the stock manifolds, and it didnt really pull like a car making even 400hp at the crank, for how light that car is. I think the owner may have been misled on promises related to the mods he has. It requires a ton of work to reach 400hp even at the crank, and I am just not convinced this car has that work. Clean car though.

    When you raise the horses in the 3800S/C engine make sure you switch the cheap factory cast aluminum pistons to forged aluminum pistons.

    The Grand Prix Gtp is a solid. And when modded right, they will embarrass seemingly much faster cars.

      Seems to be a common theme with Pontiacs. I can't tell you the last time I saw a modern Pontiac that wasn't a beater. Even the G8 and GTO aren't immune.

  • @TechTokOffical

    Lol there is NO WAY dude pulled and additional 160hp to an engine by only swapping a pulley and doing a tune. Lemme guess this 3800 was a special one GM only put in a few top secret concept cars and accidentally ended up in this consumer car....aside from that how could u actually allow him to claim 400+hp without uncontrollably laughing?

  • @PlanetX87
    @PlanetX87 Před 8 měsíci +1

    A smaller pulley and a tune = 400HP. Lmaoooo. Bruh... You might get extra 20HP on top of the 240 if you're lucky. You're gonna need a TON of supporting mods to accept enough boost from a pulley and get that much HP. And not just screwing around with the intake. We're talking new camshaft, complete exhaust, heads, valves, lifters, fuel injectors, among other changes to even come close to 400HP. You (and possibly your friend) don't seem to know much of anything about these engines.

    I bought the orignal 1997 GTP new & fully specd out (1st model/year) and was the best American car I owned and loved until it starting fallint apart at the 25k milestone. Pure American junk and its no wonder Pontiac doesn't exist. Interior plastics and leather aged terribly, creaks and cracks everywhere at 10k miles, buttons print wore out, you could hear the wind and road noise at anything over 40mph. In closing a fun car, decent drivetrain for its time especially for a FWD "sports sedan" but honestly an overall terrible GM craftsmanship and build quality of a car. I had high hopes for my 1st ever American GM vehicle purchased in 1997 but instead felt like I bought one of those cheap 3d printed animal figures from a zoo and promised myself to never ever buy American vehicles again. #SorryNotSorry

      @@Llggd around here these old GM cars especially the 90s Buicks have a reputation for being drug dealer cars. The majority of them are owned by sketchy people. And like I said about these Pontiacs, they're always owned by annoying 20 smgs tryna show boat. Some of those dudes tend to be sketchy too. Idk what it is about old GM cars but they attract a certain crowd of people around here.

      @@bricegraham8256 ah yes, I've seen the videos. (Recently the one of two Buicks ramming each other and the other dude flashing $400 at the other dude lol) They don't rust down there so it's probably why they are everywhere. I agree. I have gotten many looks from hood people when driving into the inner city of Harrisburg. They love the car because it's dirt cheap for the horsepower. Old Pontiacs have had a reputation of being a ghetto car even back in the 80s. They had an acronym for it which I will not say because its pretty racist. I think I own one of the few Grand Prix GTPs in my area. I know it's not super fast but it will surprise many faster modern cars due to how it puts power down to the wheels right away. The big turbo four cylinders are always playing catch up on the highway.
