Geographically, I've never heard of the term "West Asia", but rather a Middle-East. Few of the countries were Central Asia such as Azerbaijan and Armenia in your list.

The identification of West Asia has always been controversial and has many different definitions. Some definitions include the countries of the Caucasus region, while others do not include these countries. Some other definitions takes Iran into South Asia while others include Iran into West Asia. Some similar definitions such as Southwest Asia, Middle East suggest different boundaries. The term West Asia, in this video, is commonly used to refer to a geographical area, which is located in the southwest of Asia.
Middle East is a derogatory name the Brits gave us by their own choice. We never had that name nor did we suggest it. "Middle" is understandable because it looks in the middle of 3 continents, but "east"? East of what? That term only applies to the location related to the UK. Nothing else.
The correct term is West/Southwest Asia and I have always used it.
