I have a story to tell. A while back, about 2 months ago I want to say, I made a ranking video. To be more specific, a video ranking the top 20 lanterns based on looks in my opinion (I swear this isnt self promotion its part of the story). At the time I thought I had the most insane, outlandish ranking there was, but that changed today. You sir, are the most insane person in the Hollow Knight community, and I don't know how you do it.
3:03 To pass this room you need to cut off the vine holding the log, and to the right above it there is a secret place where you can cut the vine, and after that you can get to the grub without dash (Sorry, I do not speak english well).
I Mean you do have to get the progression items Anyway, so for me it makes sense to rate 'difficulty' by how hard the grub is to find / get to when you first encounter it. For example, #45 should be way higher on the list, because most players don't know how to, or even that it's possible to pogo on spikes, and will wait until they get mantis claw to get it. So it's +2 skills harder. Meanwhile a lot of grubs in harder areas you just stumble upon while exploring, so they feel easy (even if the area itself has been hard.) like the first one in Queen's gardens is imo fairly easy because you don't even get hit by the Fool Eaters if you wall climb reasonably fast. Even noob players should only get hit like 3 times, max. Fairly easy. Harder to find than to get to.

That sucker took way more attempts than I'd like to admit to (I didn't count, but feel free to imagine a lengthy montage of the Knight careening headlong into thorns and you've got the idea), and before the first round of tries, I killed all of the nearby enemies, so I didn't even have anything to dreamnail for soul (and I may or may not have died trying to get back through that annoying thorn platform section, but we don't have to talk about that). After retrieving my shade (or not, I admit nothing!) and going back for round two, I left some of the spiny husks alive for easier soul gathering, which made the process somewhat more desirable than it otherwise would have been (although it would have been better with deep focus and grubsong, which I forgot to equip). On the bright side, I was so tilted from getting the grub that dying to Traitor Lord 34 times in a row seemed positively delightful (I love this game - I never said I was *good* at it). Queen's Gardens is such a beautiful area, but my goodness is it dangerous. It feels like every square inch of the place is covered in thorns. On a completely unrelated note, I'm just going to keep on pretending that White Palace is not a thing that exists...and not fight any dream bosses...and, you know, forget how to get to resting grounds. "Oh, gee, my dreamnail doesn't seem to work on this Kingsmould, what a shame..." **fidgets nervously**
