Hi Doc, I have a question about vision therapy (VT). Is it true that it's more difficult to treat vertical misalignment than horizontal one with VT? If so, why it that? I've been diagnosed with mild hyperphoria in my left eye (3.5 pd) at distance. Can vision therapy treat it successfully? I'm at the cross-road considering whether to do vision therapy or use prism, but inclined to do VT. Hope to hear from you soon. Love your channel and have subscribed.

Hello! Vertical can be tougher since we are wired to make lots of horizontal inward/outward movements where our eyes cross and turn back out. We don’t have any reason to move our eyes in opposite directions vertically so treatment can be less intuitive for your brain. However, you can still be very successful in VT! We address hyper and hypophorias frequently and you should be confident your eyes can get better! A small amount of prism (not 3.5 pd) can help you feel better in the short term without interfering with your improvement, and I even find that helpful to speed up your recovery since you can be challenged quicker. Best of luck!
