    People are quick to label Heimdall as a puffed up prick (which don't get me wrong, he is), but from his first interactions with Atreus, you can see he's right.
    At first, Atreus wasn't there to sight see or to legitimately help Odin, he just wanted an escape. He knew Odin would receive him, so he never set the words of his father aside. And Heimdall literally *sees* that. He knows Atreus is a problem to Asgard more than anything, and he tries to warn Odin, but Odin is so arrogant and so sure he will succeed that he pays it no mind. Heimdall is probably aware of everything that's gonna happen, he's just trying to stop it in advance. But Odin, in his ways, doesn't listen to him. And pays the price.
    Heimdall is the singlemost important ally Odin has. If Heimdall was around during the war of Ragnarok, Odin would probably have won.

    • @user-ki2ez3vp1p
      @user-ki2ez3vp1p Před rokem +11

      Bruh, you clearly didn’t payed attention to Odin’s Perspective. He knew that Atreus was going to backstab him at some point before he would do the same to him.
      As you can see, of course Heimdall did warned him about Atreus, but he pretended to not care to show Atreus that he is “good” because we all know that he was DISGUISED as Tyr. I mean, why else did he invite him in the beginning of the game and send out his ravens to spy on him, Kratos and Mimir? Not to mention that he locked himself away for them to arrive and break “Tyr” out, until the Einherjar came so that he could infiltrate Sindri’s house to listen to their plans. Odins not that arrogant, he’s actually pretty smart. He was just using Atreus for his advantage, Just as he used Durlin to set them up to fool us thinking that he “helped” Kratos and Atreus to locate Tyr. Plus, when he met Kratos and Mimir again, he sought to gather him “truce,” but Mimir doesn’t believe him as much Kratos does.
      Heimdall on the other hand is the one who acted ignorant, cocky and narcissistic. He always has his pride and ego to get in his way. If he hadn’t invade Vanaheim to capture half of Freyr’s Crew, Then he would’ve lived. He should’ve stayed up on top of the walls to keep watch. That’s what got him killed when he met Kratos after he acquired the Draupnir. Compared to Loki, he went fully entitled more than him after Kratos hitted him and had to regenerate his arm during his “prime.” If anything, he lacks his fighting skills (if you look closely to his move sets and see what they are.) Hence why it was his fault for no longer focusing on his foresight.
      Besides, Asgard would’ve lost and been destroyed and Heimdall would die either way, no matter if Kratos no longer holds back and hears that Heimdall successfully killed his son. It was all according to the prophecy.

      @@user-ki2ez3vp1p If you had to see everyone's shitty thoughts and intentions all the time like Heimdal does, you would probably act similar.

    • @archangelmichael9415
      @archangelmichael9415 Před 7 měsíci +1

      Hmm debatable on Odin winning if Heimdall were alive during Ragnarok. After all, Kratos still had the draupnir spear which is his weakness. Also, for Ragnarok to start, someone would have to sound Gjallarhorn and if for whatever reason, Kratos took it but spared Heimdall, Odin would probably banish or kill him for his incompetence. He killed Thor for saying 'no' to him once.
      But, on him having a bit of a point when encountering a stranger in a suspicious situation, that's true. I mean, he read Atreus's intentions and knew that Odin usually invites his guests via his ravens. Plus, with Baldur's death and Ragnarok close, he was right to be wary of an outsider climbing up the wall. (I mean, it's his job to keep danger away).
      Still, his approach was unnecessarily cruel. He could have taken Atreus captive until he figured it out with Odin.
      Buuut, as others have pointed out in the comments, Atreus coming across Heimdall and his cruelty was part of Odin's plan to make himself seem like a "chill and reasonable guy".

    So I have a theory that because of Kratos' originals outside of the Nine Realms that screws up Heimdall's ability to predict things. With Kratos it means that he gets nothing and must rely upon skill alone to fight him (notice he can't get a read on Kartos in their fight, stating that he can't figure out what Kratos is thinking). That's also why Draupnir defeats him: it is made of Kratos' blood so he can't predict it.
    For Atreus though because he is part giant it causes a different reaction: it projects Heimdall's own inner self back at him. Listen to how he describes Atreus when he first meets him: every word could be used to describe Hemidall himself.
    "You are too eager to prove yourself" Heimdall does all he can to show Odin that he is serving Asgard. Quick to claim tasks are easy or he understands things that others do not.
    "Due to being overshadowed by a father you can never live up to" No matter what he does for Asgard Heimdall will always be hated while Odin is loved despite how he mistreats people.
    "You are Disrespectful, entitled, and impulsive" Heimdall is rude to everyone, thinks he can do what he wants without question, and acts without thinking
    "You are here to help yourself. To manipulate and lie to get what you want" Despite his claims that he is working for 'The good of Asgard' he disobeys his father multiple times (attacking Atreus, abandoning him and Thrud in Hel, going to attack Kratos. He also tries to anger people to get them to lash out so he can claim they were the aggressors)
    "What a twisted little soul you have" Heimdall to a T, who happily torments his own niece.
    "I watch your mouth move and I see cities burn" Heimdall declaring that he would kill Atreus is what led to his very death which, in turn, led to Ragnarok and Asgard's fall.
    Heimdall isn't reading Arteus' mind... he's seeing his own and doesn't realize it. Hell, him even claiming that Atreus will betray the all father? Heimdall JUST DID THAT by trying to kill Atreus KNOWING that is the last thing Odin wants.

      It's even more interesting if you consider Heimdall is a dark reflection of Atreus' aspect as Champion of the Jotnar:
      -Both seek to protect their homes and take pride on their titles and want to protect their fathers from harm. Both are also entitled, disrespectful and reckless, wanting to live up to the expectations of an overshadowing father figure.
      -Atreus eventually let's go of that mentality and is a curious, compassionate and kind man, Heimdall makes no attempt to change his ways and is an arrogant, cruel and selfish asshole. In a way, Heimdall can be seen as representing the kind of person Atreus would have grown up to be if Kratos didn't snap him out of his "I am a God, I can do whatever I want" phase.

    I recently revisited GOWR and I've been thinking about the relationship between Heimdall and his father.
    Heimdall, in his blind loyalty, seeks to protect his father from any potential threat. He shows a misguided but genuine admiration for Odin and his approval is extremely important to Hiemdall.
    Then there's Odin who knows how loyal Heimdall is, yet even his death elicited no emotional response from him.
    He said that "if Brok dies, we are square for Heimdall". The death of Brok, who is a stranger to him, would satisfy the loss of his own very loyal son.
    There is no parental bereavement, guilt, or vengeance the way Freya and Kratos have expressed.
    Essentially, Heimdall's loyalty truly was for nothing.
    Side note, I think it is impossible that Heimdall would not be able to see how little he meant to Odin, which leads me to believe Odin may have used magic to alter how his thoughts show and trick Heimdall's sight (might be related to the tattoo on his head idk). After all, he even concealed Huginn and Muninn's thoughts from Atreus.

His purple eyes are side effect of bifrost energy that pulsing in his body. the only thing that different in here is his personality and he did not wearing Helmet, also Gulltoppr are supposed to be a golden horse not some wild beast like creature
