Thanks for the positive Feedback!! 😊
Excited to see your Kona prep. I'm not sure I responded in the last video about content. I love your videos now but since you asked... How you recovery after works. I'm 57 training for 70.3 Chattanooga 2024. Sometimes finding the time to get the workout in is hard so I never doing anything for myself after the workout. Plus, right now, I'm only doing one hour or sometimes 1.50 hour workout so not sure how important it is to foam roll or stretch or replenish nutrition etc. Thanks for sharing your career with us!
Hey Lisa! Thanks for your Feedback! I will try to share more about my recovery. I can understand the struggle to find the right balance, that's probably the biggest challenge in Triathlon. Many greetings from Maui!😊🌺
Surprised you would have to pay for your total trip to Hawaii. An interesting video would be a recap of all of your expenses and if any sponsor help you get for the trip. I don’t know if I will ever have to plan for this but shedding some light on this would be informative. Thank you and good luck in your race.
Thanks Kevin! I have to pay for everything myself. Since long distance Triathlon is not an olympic discipline it's not supported in any way. Of course I have great partners that help me to make a living, otherwise we couldn't race on this level. Sending you many greetings from Maui!
Dear Laura and Philipp,
Firstly, I wish to express that I very much respect you both, your approach to training and what you are achieving as a team. It is wonderful to watch.
Secondly, I offer the following input simply based on that respect I have for you, and because I genuinely believe Laura is absolutely capable of becoming World Champion. (Also, I acknowledge English isn’t your mother tongue, and of course there are cultural nuances that don’t always translate across languages in your videos).
So, my offering is this:
Your approach to physical/physiological training is wonderfully diverse, extremely thorough, scientific, and personalised for your optimal physical performance.
However, may I ask if you are also adopting this ‘leave no stone unturned’ approach to every corner of your mindset/mental training… to every detail of your psychology, self-awareness and outlook on life and how this may be impacting your performances at big events?… to your inner-dialogue (self-talk)?… to your expressions and your language? … to your beliefs about how things ‘can’ or ‘should’ or ‘will’ go in the future and in life?
Perhaps for a future video you could discuss what mindset and mental training you do, or would like to do, on your path to becoming the best in the world.
It is just my observation - that it seems you have a strong commitment to a set of (limiting) beliefs, and perhaps even emotional blindspots, around what is ‘optimal’ self-talk, what is an optimal mindset, what is optimal in terms of how you think and express your ideas.
I mention the above, with reference to Laura’s verbal expressions in this video, and many previous videos... for example, around preparation and travel, logistics, race days, training camps etc. Things like…
“I hate it”
“I always think I will forget something”
"This trip will be exhausting"
“hoping things will be a little better”
“Unfortunately… Sadly…. etc etc”
With beliefs and language such as this, you are quite literally programming yourself to experience exhaustion, stress, forgetting things etc. Ultimately, the brain is setting up a set of parameters about the future, and then the brain/persona will actually seek out and create those circumstances in the world, and then, as a ‘reward’ the brain/persona somehow experiences ‘stress’, exhaustion or other challenging events, which completes the closed loop based on one’s beliefs, thinking, verbal expression and of course, one’s personal identity (which is based on living as a person that always has ‘exhausting’ things or 'bad luck' ‘happen’ to them).
Each year, from your videos, you demonstrate your strong belief in and commitment to ‘things being stressful, exhausting, ‘hard for you’. Yet, I offer this question - Who decides that? Who decides when or why something is hard? From a different perspective - I highlight to you that a list of things/logistics ‘to do’, for example, is simply a list. A list has no inherent meaning within itself. Humans are therefore free to decide or project any perceptions onto a list, whether it be easy or exhausting or even better still, just a list, that will be completed, free from mental / emotional energy or disempowering beliefs and words. A list can be completed neutrally, without force or stress or mental effort. That is always a choice, based on your beliefs.
(We also know from modern science, as Dr Michael Levin and many other scientists often point out, science has been demonstrating for generations that… “your cognitive intentions, wanting to do something (or believing something needs to be done) changes the way molecules interact in your muscles).“ This is extremely powerful.
I also trust that you understand that a negative (or positive) feedback loop does not ‘happen’ by chance. It occurs through your beliefs about yourself and the world, your intentions, and your actions. Much the same as with physical training.
I offer the above based on this premise - Do you believe that working towards and setting one’s own intentions for a future event that is emotionally connected to hate, exhaustion, forgetting things, hoping things go better, stress etc is truly aligned with ‘leaving no stone unturned’ on the path to becoming World Champion?
Given the immense level of detail you are focused on in physical training, its does not appear (just in my observation) to be carrying over into analysing your beliefs, your mindset, your identity, your self-awareness, and the intentional statements you are making about future events.
I also consider (just in my respectful opinion) that you are continuing to repeat the same ‘mindset’ mistakes over and over again, yet somehow hoping you will see a different result in your race performances, especially at World Championships.
Also, please know, these questions are simply meant to challenge your perceptions about things and push you to be the best you can be, outside of your emotional safety zones. These questions are offered respectfully and mindfully, without judgement, and with much support for what you are endeavouring to achieve in triathlon.
Again, I genuinely consider you have the capacity, talent and physical ability to become World Champion.
I offer this - What if your mindset and your strong investment in this identity that ‘things are exhausting’ is ‘costing’ you 1%… 2%…. even 5% of your physical potential and performance? (Especially at Kona, where you seem to create an immensely stressful event out of just going to the islands and making it to the start line).
(I also mention that this is based on my understanding of Germanic culture and mindset, as I’ve been travelling and living in Germany on and off for almost 20yrs, and many of my dear friends are German/Austrian. I very much understand that this way of thinking and speaking is a cultural norm in Germanic cultures. I don’t say this judgementally, but simply to point out that just because something is culturally ‘normal’ it doesn’t mean it can’t be respectfully challenged and changed, to ensure someone can live a more ‘optimal’ and neutral outlook on life, and possibly achieve things that they once believed were impossible or ‘exhausting’).
Again, I simply write out of respect and support for you both, and out of wanting to point out that I strongly believe you are capable of much much more in this sport. I also strongly suspect that your mindset, your current beliefs and personal identity (your ego) are holding you back from becoming World Champion. Also, I have and still do work with Olympic-level athletes and coaches, pointing out the exact same things to them, just with love and support, nothing more. At some level, one has to ‘give up’ some (or all!) of their perceptions about the world to ensure they are not entrapping themselves in a version of reality that is actually limiting their own potential and detracting from the other great things they are doing.
I wish you very well for your physical (and mental) preparations there in Maui. Viel spaß.
Mit liebe Grüße,
Nathan
Bitte mach weiter Sau 😊
Viel Spaß in Hawaii 🌺
Vielen Dank!
Hi Laura, I'm a big fan and always look forward to your videos. Have a great training camp in Maui and I hope you crush your race in Kona!!! In this video I noticed your bike seems to have the Radsport Ibert extensions with a cover/fairing on the bottom. I would like the same for my Canyon where can I order one or was it custom made?
Regards
Doug
All the best for the next weeks! Time to work, as always with fun and passion! There is enough time to talk after the finish line! Enjoy! :-)
❤
the video was very nice. 😊
That's great to hear! Thank you so much for sharing!😊
I've been living here in Hawaii for years, I should try the 70.3 at Kona some day.
Is there a reason for choosing Maui for your training location instead of the big island? Is it more cost effective to lodge there for a while and train and then pack up and take a short flight to Kona instead of lodging and training there?
Good luck with the race!
I will cover your questions in my next video straight here from Maui! 😁 Unfortunately it is even more expensive...but I will share the reasons to come here first! Many greetings to you
Du du ca 5 Wochen dort bist benötigt Mann / Frau sehr viele Sachen
Welche schuhe benutzt du für track?
👈🏿 gutes Gelingen 👊🏿
Laura ich liebe dich, echt! Du bist traumhaft! Dein Mann hat soo Glück. Der kleine***********😅.
Haha, ich danke! 😜
Great vid. Nino v cute, good luck 🤞 in kona
Thankyou😊✌️🌺
If 30k is your longest run since Roth , my question IS what is your LONGEST RUN OFF THE BIKE ?
